  • The handling noise is the LOWEST of all mics I own.
The selling point of this mic is the low handling noise. I tested this against many other mics I own, and I can indeed say that this mic has the LOWEST handling noise of anything in its price range that I have used. This mic has a nice clear sound. Very good value.

  • NOT AS ADVERTISED
This is NOT a QUIET HAND HELD mic as advertised. I've run karaoke shows and a recording studio for 20 years. I bought two of these and both are the worst mics I've ever had in my 30 mic selection when it comes to handling noise. On the positive side IT IS a VERY decent sounding mic if it's in a stand and not touched. Incredibly low ambient noise compared to other hand held mics for recording. Great frequency response and off axis rejection. But sadly, as I said, NOT a mic you could use for hand held use. I pair it with an mxl 770 silver on a single stand for doing vocal and acoustic guitar tracks which sound amazing. I got mine on sale for $55 which I think is a decent price. They've gone up to $70 now and I wouldn't spend that much for one. Drop the extra 10 or 20 and get a sure sm58. If you can get one for 50$ish, it's worth it however as long as its glued to a stand. ... show more

  • A Bit Pricey
Overall, I'm pleased with this microphone. I use it for small shows and karaoke. It works as advertised and has a noise-canceling feature. It feels nice and solid in my hand. The sound is clear and sharp with no crackling noises. It sounds better than my cheaper Pyle mics, but not that much better. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's kind of pricey. • No on/off switch - being returned
I would have used this to replace an old microphone that we use on whale watch/research trips. The lack of an on/off button made it useless. We typically often need to turn off the microphone. To do so by disconnecting the microphone to its cable, exposing the connectors to sea air and sea water isn't appropriate. ... show more

  • Well made "low handling noise" mic
I don't do a lot of singing or music recording, so this is coming from the point of view of voice recording and someone who once was a radio DJ. I think this mic does a good rendition of my voice with good output levels for recording. Since it's a dynamic microphone it does NOT require 48v phantom power or any batteries, so it's pretty much always ready to use. With it they include a 5/8 mic clip (no adapters) and a sturdy 14 foot XLR cable. The overall build quality of the mic is really good too, all metal and should be strong enough to take a lot of mishandling. I started testing it with a MOTU-2 XLR audio interface and it sounded great. I did not have to turn the gain up too high to get a usable signal. Just for fun I also tried one of those bare bones USB-C to XLR cables with built in ADC. This also worked with the mic. There is no gain adjustment with this kind of cable but the mic delivered enough signal so it worked. This would be a very portable way to hook this mic up to a phone/tablet. In general I would say this mic works best close up, like within a few inches, but with a bit of gain boost it will work further away. Up close you also get that "fat" sound that a lot of vocalists like. The mic is highly directional. I tried talking very close up to the side of the grille and there was a dramatic drop in volume, an even bigger drop to the rear. So this is a good mic for picking up a voice in a noisy environment like a stage as long as you always talk into the end from fairly close. The main party trick of this mic is definitely the "low handling noise". I was very surprised at how well this works. If you have to deal with people that throw the mic around this will deal with it really well. I found I could change hands or even tap on it with my fingernails and this noise was very low. If someone was talking or singing the handling noise would be almost inaudible. I even tried rapping the mic on the table a few times and the noise was more like a click than the loud boom you would usually get. There are two models of this mic, one has a slide switch. When I was reading the product listing it wasn't clear if that was the only difference. Now that I have one I can tell you the slide switch is the only difference, both mics come with the same manual, specs and sound...so just choose if you want the switch or not. I use mine mostly in a studio so I got the one without, the switch might be handy if you are using this with a PA system or don't have someone running a sound board to turn the mic on and off. ... show more
