I bought this initially to travel to Spain. I wanted something that I could carry in front to protect from pick-pockets but found hip/Fanny packs not my taste. This worked perfectly and it was big enough to carry water bottles, guidebooks, whatever else my family made me carry. When we got home I discovered that it’s a great bag to bring to work. PROS: - The only side-open sling bag with tablet capacity I could find. - Fits all my daily needs, including an iPad Pro 11” (12” may or may not fit, it was tight with the Magic Keyboard on), chargers, multiple personal care items, phone, wallet, traveller’s journal, etc. - Everything fits flat and carries very comfortably. - Has a loop to secure any excess strap. - Really like the mesh zip section in the front pocket. NEUTRALS: - The material is a lot thinner than I was expecting from Carhartt. Not terrible since this helps lighten it, but I was expecting thicker. - It has a plastic buckle. Wasn’t expecting any different at this price point, but I prefer metal. - Collects dirt like crazy. I’m not new to black bags, and this one feels like a magnet for dirt prints. UPDATE: I was proved wrong. It will hold some contrasting dirt occasionally, but it stays clean for the most part. This is updated to a non-issue. - UPDATE: The hidden pocket will only hold keys OR a phone, probably an iPhone 14 Pro Max at most. Wider phones may run into issues fitting (such as the Duo). CONS: - It definitely runs small! I wear a men’s medium/women’s large and have a large bust - there’s only a few more inches of strap to expand it. I do tend to sit my packs lower, but even so I’m concerned about being able to wear it with any sort of heavy jacket. - The iPad/tablet pocket is pretty tight for an 11” iPad Pro, especially with a case. It can be awkward to maneuver in or out, especially with other items in the bag. (I’m not convinced this is entirely a con, because it seems inevitable to have the bag keep its size/shape, which I love). But you won’t be able to fit anything wider. UPDATE: I’ve taken to just leaving my iPad out of the slot if I have a lot of other items in the bag because it’s so awkward to get in. Hasn’t been a problem doing this though, other than general organization. INFO: - I couldn’t find ANY pictures of the interior pockets; I included some here. For those with vision impairment, the main pocket has a half-length padded tablet pocket on the back, and a half-length mesh on the front. The front pocket has a zippered mesh pocket across the length in the front and is otherwise open. There is also a ‘hidden’ fleece (?) lined side pocket for your wallet/phone/misc. CONCLUSION: - I love it. It’s going to be my daily for on-the-go and hoping it has good longevity. UPDATE: Still my everyday bag. I love this thing. ... show more

I was thinking 3 pockets more like 8 or 9. I'm not a backpacker that needs a full pack but there's allot of room in here, I throw the Glock in with a couple of mags and my EDC stuff, well made as with most Carhartt stuff, would definitely buy again, btw the wine is close to brown looks good not too reddish. ... show more

    • Nice size, but the strap is too short!

I did a lot of research on sling bags because I wanted the largest one I could get. I was going to use it as a daily purse and diaper bag now that my baby is over a year old, so size is very important. Anyway, this is the largest I could find. I was so disappointed to see how short the strap is. It is extended as far as it goes and it fits me ok, but there is no way I can put a coat on and still have it fit. For a company so focused on outerwear, you’ll would think they would design this to fit over a coat. I even called Carhartt and complained. I ended up buying an extender on Amazon (Carhartt doesn’t even offer one), but it doesn’t fit the clip on the bag because it’s a unique shape, so I will return the bag. I have a larger chest, but that shouldn’t make a product like this unusable. I can’t be the only one in this situation. ... show more

It's unexpectedly perfect. The vinyl all slippery inside is exactly what I needed without expecting it, my job is dusty and it doesn't stick to this. The zippers are incredible quality, and protected by the outer fabric through the design. The pockets meet my needs perfectly and the main body of the bag is so versatile if you need to pack it full or just have a few oddly sized things loosely tucked safely in this bag held against your body. You can whip it all around you upside down with how tight the zippers are.
