This is a generic design CO alarm that has been on the market for some time now. I own several of these and they work very well. This particular seller initially had some logistic problem that held up my order, but it has since been resolved. I really like that the footprint (0.98"D x 2.36"W x 2.36"H) is significantly smaller than the typical CO alarm, making it ideal as a travel unit when staying in places with lax code enforcement, or for putting in RVs, boats, GA airplanes, heated tents etc. It runs on two standard AAA batteries - cheap and readily available everywhere. Like all CO alarms, it features a piercing audio alert when the CO level reaches an immediately dangerous level, but in addition to that it also sports a backlit digital readout that indicates the exact amount of CO present - even at levels low enough not be immediately deadly. If no CO is detected, the display is turned off to preserve batteries, although the alarm can be tested and the CO level verified at 0 PPM by the press of the front button. If low levels are detected, the blue display backlight comes by on by itself and the PPM level is shown. If high levels are detected, the audio alarm also activates. All in all, this is a great design. My only suggestion for improvement would be this: The actual sensor in a CO detector has a limited service-life - 5 to 10 years during typical operation - after which it cannot be guaranteed to do its job. As such, a CO detector should preferably keep track of how long it's been in operation and alert the user when it has reached its end of life. This alarm lacks such a feature so the user would be well advised to write initial service date on its back, to be referenced each time batteries are changed.

I bought a few detectors to replace the aging ones in my house. One had already shut down after telling me it was at End of Life. Time for a replacement! I got the VLAIAN Carbon Monoxide Detector first so I mounted it right away. It has a back plate that screws into the wall with the supplied hardware then the detector slides onto the plate. It did not come with batteries but, for once, I am not arguing. The price point more than makes up for supplying 2xAAA batteries myself. Once on it goes through a self-test and gives you a readout of any CO2 and a PPM count. You can force a test by pushing the button at any time. I usually test my detectors once a month just as I'm walking by them. Doesn't require much effort and you're sure they're working. Now it hangs at the top of the stairs above the furnace and hopefully I will never need it. Knowing it is there though is a peace of mind everyone should have.

This carbon monoxide detector is a breeze to set up and use. The digital display is clear and easy to read, and the alarm is loud enough to get your attention. It's a great basic detector for peace of mind. My only suggestion is that it should include double-sided tape as a mounting option in addition to screws. The detector is so lightweight that it would easily adhere to the wall with strong tape, making installation even simpler. Overall, this is a solid and affordable carbon monoxide detector that I recommend.

First and foremost, I gotta love (being sarcastic here) the mysterious message printed on the side of the box: "This product is only used to reduce the accident, cannot make sure everytime. Except use our detector in right way, please also pay more attention in your daily life and strengthen safety and security conciousness." WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN??! This does not give me any confidence that it will save my life. LOL From previous experience, I know CO detectors generally have a limited lifespan of 6-7 years. Nowhere on the package or documentation does it mention this. Will it beep and flash something onscreen to remind me to replace the dead CO detector? I have no idea. Am I supposed to write a note for myself to know when to replace? Again, not much confience here. I'm not a fan of these new style, mini CO detectors. It does not come with a dedicated mounting bracket. The battery compartment cover is loose and comes completely off. It then doubles as the mounting piece. There are simply two holes in the battery compartment cover that you put two screws through. In effect you are permanently attaching the loose battery compartment cover to the wall or ceiling. I find this a very odd way to save 10 cents of plastic. Do I trust this unit to alert me of a life threatening situation? Not really... I will spend more and purchase a better known brand like KIDDE instead of this no name brand.
