Bought for alternative application, this spring holds a 200# cart in place in van. The length of the cart is constant. The distance between lockdown rings in the van is constant. Added a simple "hook" to attach the cart to the rear lockdown ring and attached the spring to the front lockdown ring. by connecting an over center latch to the cart and the spring a simple close of the over center, locks the cart for transport. Ok, first of all, let’s address the other users saying it doesn’t work. Not all cars have the right trunk lid mechanism for this to work but there is some where it will. They should not pigeon hole this thing as just for car trunks, a small portion of cars at that. This is a useful device if you know how to use it. You can use it to make an auto pull back on a panel, such as a fast food trash can door. Lots of other uses if you are creative enough. For 6 USD, it is reasonably priced.
