I have read several 1-star reviews from purchasers that did not seem to understand how this device functions. The instructions that come with the item do instruct you to press head against corner of window (or something like that). These instructions mean that you are supposed to press the head of the device against the corner(s) of the window you want to break. The device functions by spring loaded tension and an automatic trigger mechanism. Both the spring and the strike point are concealed within the device. The strike pin provides a rapid jolt to the window only after you press the head of the device very firmly against the window at which time the tension is built up in the spring and then the trigger trips and the metal point releases and rapidly and forcefully strikes the glass thus shattering it. This device is not designed to be swung as a hammer. ... show more

First, I ordered the blue set and received the black one. Not happy about that. Second, the device adhesive disc that is supposed to be used to stick the device to the car door does not work. It is not strong enough and slide right off. I will have to get a velcro adhesive to use for this. This did come with a sample glass piece to try using the device, which was good because it was harder to do than you may think, so it was good to practice. ... show more

I had put it on my key chain and the strap fell out; the safety hammer fell off my key chain. The loop strap for the key chain is poorly made; will not stay in the top.
