The copper windings on the motor assure longevity. Variable speed (RPM's) on the fly all the way from 600 RPMs to 3600 RPM"s provide the popular speeds for sanding, polishing and more. You'll be surprised at how heavy this tool is once you have grown accustomed to lighter duty versions. That added weight is a plus when it comes to polishing because you simply squeeze the locking trigger and move it slowly over flat surfaces letting the tool do all of the work. Speed recommended for different usages are 600/1200 for waxing and buffering. 1800-2400 polishing and cleaning, 3000-3600 Removing paint defects and oxidation. The three tiers are used concurrently with finishing polishing wax sealant. Mid-grade compound, and heavy-duty compound for the fastest speeds. The speed dial on the top has each of the speeds clearly labeled in bright white on the turn wheel. It also comes with two handles. I have been using a side handle buffer for a lot of years when I had my body shop so that is a natural preference of mine. Included in the kit is also a top handle, a preference for many. The polisher I used in my shop was a 7" pad/face. So, alternatively it is nice to have a 5" pad like this one for getting into those nooks and crannies not normally accessible with the larger pad. A 5-inch pad will do all surfaces through, so, this is all you need. Highly recommended.

This 5-inch random orbital car polisher is an excellent tool for both beginners and more experienced detailers. The 1600W motor provides plenty of power, and the variable speed control (600–3600 RPM) makes it easy to adjust for different tasks like polishing, waxing, sanding, or scratch removal. The random orbital motion works great for reducing swirl marks while being safe on paint. I used it on my car and was impressed with how smooth and even the finish turned out. It also works well on other projects like boat detailing and light sanding. The included 26-piece attachment set is a huge bonus. There are plenty of pads and accessories to handle different surfaces and jobs right out of the box, which saves time and money. The polisher feels solid in hand, is comfortable to use, and doesn’t vibrate excessively during operation. The Makihara 5-inch Randon Orbital Car Buffer Polisher has several features which make it a viable choice for automotive paint care. Randon orbital is often referred to as "dual action" (or simply DA) which is the nomenclature on the small instruction manual. First, while the trend seems to be toward larger diameter pads, I prefer smaller pads for access to some of the smaller recesses on today’s sculpted automobiles. I find it easier to avoid burning edges with a smaller pad. The buffer’s electric motor is rated at 1600 watts which is equivalent to just over 2 horsepower – lots of power. Thus, a larger backing pad could be installed, if preferred, presuming it’s possible to find one with the same attachment design. Included in the kit is the buffer with Velcro backing pad, two different handles, two dimpled and two smooth foam pads, two wool pads, ten cutting discs, a small bag with extra brushes and a hex key, a thin open-end wrench, and a bag for storage of everything. The hex key is used to remove the backing pad and to install the U-shaped handle using the hex-head bolts that hold the plastic nose on the buffer. The U-shaped handle takes a little fiddling to install. It locks at various angles. The power cord is of typical length for a power tool, but obviously, an extension cord is required for its intended work. There is a large pushbutton on the side of the rear handle to lock the trigger in the “On” position. The buffer has six speeds from 600 to 3600 RPM in 600 RPM increments. The nose features a “duckbill” to serve as a handle if you prefer that style of holding a buffer (my personal preference) or one of the two different handles can be installed to suit your personal preferences. It runs smoothly and is comfortable to hold. There are many choices of buffers on Amazon, but in my opinion, this one is comparable in quality to better, mid-range, name brand buffers and comes with an extensive array of accessories making it a great buy at its price point. It’s certainly deserving of a 4-star rating, if not higher, given its price-point and included accessories.

I bought this to try and detail my car at home and I was blown away by how professional the results were. The motor is powerful at 1600W and the variable speed dial lets you start slow to spread the wax and then speed up to polish. It comes with so many pads and attachments that I didn't need to buy anything else to get started. My car paint looks like a mirror now and I removed some swirl marks that had been bothering me for years.

I bought this polisher to clean up swirl marks and light scratches on my daily driver and was honestly impressed. The motor has plenty of power without feeling out of control, and the variable speeds make it easy to dial in for different jobs. It runs smooth with minimal vibration, even during longer sessions. The included pads and attachments cover polishing, waxing, and light sanding right out of the box. It feels solid, well balanced, and comfortable to hold. For the price, it performs far better than expected and has become a regular part of my detailing routine now weekly.

When I saw this Car Buffer Polisher by Makihara I got it for my husband and he absolutely loves it. It included 26 attachments and/or various pads; it has three different speeds for things like polishing, cleaning, buffing, waxing, and removing minor small defects; it has a relatively quiet yet very powerful motor; And finally my husband also said that this tool has a wide variety of uses from vehicles to wood to metals. This is an excellent very useful buffer; and I highly recommend and rate it a 5+ out of 5.
