  • It's a Hercules tale
The story does takes his time to get there but when it does and it allows itself to breathe in a way you actually get to see Sam leave Falcon behind and become Captain America it is a very beautiful story of up-and-down, There are call backs To old Captain America comics from the sixties I don't want to give anything away per but the hotline does come back ,all and all I do highly recommend it,but Take caution this story does take place in the alternate universe from the actual 616 Marvel universe this is in the Marvel now universe just for those who didn't know who may have thought this is in the 616 ... show more

  • Sam Wilson is no Steve Rogers...and that's not a bad thing
Going into this book I felt...lost. There was a lot of material that preludes Sam Wilson taking up the shield, that is in Rick Remender's run on Captain America. So, for whatever reason, when Sam is introduced as the new Captain America it sort of feels tacked on/rushed even though it is explained why he is picked. The story with Marvel's Scarecrow is both interesting/unflattering. It doesn't show Sam in a strong light though it is supposed to be a story of overcoming fear. That being said, when he finally has his own series start ALL-NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA, Rick Remender finally give Sam great character motivation. I will also say that this collection is so split up with every appearance that Sam Wilson makes as Captain America it is almost ridiculous. The INHUMAN storyline is an example of, why is this in the collection? A good 2/3 of the story doesn't even feature Sam. Anyway, glad of the collection but it certainly varies in the content. ... show more

  • Bold and Controversial
This is one of the most political books I read from Marvel. Nick Spencer has written a very bold, very topical story, this leads to Secret Empire book. I don’t think Marvel would turn this story into a movie, Falcon becoming Captain America, and at the same time Steve Rogers becoming an agent of Hydra, a very smart right wing conspiracy...there is a lot of controversial / divisive stuff here... ... show more

  • Terrible...
So bad - they stole a batman villain, with the same powers and implanted him in one of the story lines. Unacceptable. I mean this is just lazy
