I got myself a 6 lbs., 7 lbs. and 9 lbs. pairs, so this review will be the exact same for all those three sizes since they are identical apart from the weight and size. CAP has been around for a long time doing these, so their reputation for a "good value" dumbbell is not to be questioned. Are there more "quality products" out there? Probably, but for the price and quality, this cannot be beat. I would personally rate those neoprene at about a 9.5/10 which is near perfect. They are VERY comfortable in terms of grip and the size is proportioned. Extremely easy to work out with, won't slip from your hands either and sweat won't be a problem with those. What I liked the most is that I could find a 6, 7 and 9 lbs. which are very odd and rare formats to find. Most "kits" offer 3 lbs., 5 lbs., 8 lbs. or 10 lbs. but anything in between is near impossible to find. For me that matters since I do a lot of drop sets and wanted to micro-manage my last set with the max I can tolerate after all that pain. Also important if you do boxing or martial arts to "shadow box" with, again with the max you can tolerate on a particular day. My only tiny complaint is the font they used for the numbers which doesn't fit the rest of my dumbbells from CAP. Not sure why they decided on a different font type for those, but it distracts a bit when you look at the rack and see that they don't seem to be exactly from the same collection. It's subtle though seriously and only my OCD self probably notice. Weights are weights and I'm glad CAP still makes those odd sizes. ... show more

I gave away my Amaz Basics 12# hand weights because the middle portion for my small hands was too short for me. I do skull crusher triceps prone and I couldn't fit my petite hands on the weight to get a good grip for me. The Basics were 8" in total length whereas these CAP are 10" with a 4.7" middle bar. I can use these CAP ones like all my other weights and they only cost $1 more than the Basics. Also, when prone, I can put these weights on their flat ends (vertical like I use them for skull crushers) and they sit stable. The Basics are rounded so they fell over. The CAP also feel better balanced being longer. Both sets of weights are neoprene, odorless, feel good to grip, and well made, good quality. Very good quality. I like the texture and color, which matches the color that you see online. I was happy to find the 9 lb hand weights on Amazon at a good price. I couldn't find 9 lb in the retail brick and mortar stores where I had purchased my other hand weights. They carry 8 and 10 but skip 9. Two pounds is too big of a jump for me. I need to increase in smaller, 1 lb. increments. I was concerned that due to the combined weight of the hand weights that the packaging would be damaged in handling along the way, but the packaging and the weights were all in good order when I receive them. ... show more

I love these weights! The hex design makes them stay put when you set them down and the texture is perfect for a good grip even when you are at the end of the workout and have a bit more moisture on the hands (if you know what I mean). They fit great in my weight tower (handles not to large a diameter) and it is so much more convenient to have a 15lb weight instead of having to switch out my variable travel weight set from 10 to 15.
