CAP has been around for a long time doing these, so their reputation for a "good value" dumbbell is not to be questioned. Are there more "quality products" out there? Probably, but for the price and quality, this cannot be beat. I would personally rate those neoprene at about a 9.5/10 which is near perfect. They are VERY comfortable in terms of grip and the size is proportioned. Extremely easy to work out with, won't slip from your hands either and sweat won't be a problem with those. 2 lbs. is a tiny size and may look "cute" for most. For me though, I do a lot of drop sets and wanted to micro-manage my last set with the max I can tolerate after all that pain. Also important if you do boxing or martial arts to "shadow box" with, again with the max you can tolerate on a particular day. Finally those are great for jogging as well. Being black, they don't look corny like... pink, yellow or whatever weird pastel color which most 2 lbs. are. Great set and works great with my other "light weights" from CAP.

Purchased these weights for my yoga studio to offer a yoga sculpt class. Very happy with my purchase! The matte black color is sleek and modern. The weights are comfortable to grip while using them for a workout. The handle fits well in your hand and the texture is soft but not slippery with sweaty hands. Highly recommend these weights!!! The smaller, light weights are perfect for in the go - easy to toss in your bag and bring along for a portable workout!

For the money these are good weights. I have them in 5, 8,10 and 12 lb. The diameter of the grips varies depending on the weight and is fairly large on the 10 and 12 lb. weights. I am a woman about 5'8" and usually where large gloves so my hands are fairly large for a woman's. The grips are just barely OK for me on the 12 lb. weights but they might be a little uncomfortable for people with small hands. The neoprene coating is pretty thick and it makes the weights easy to grip and they feel like they are well balanced. However, the coating isn't 100% uniform, and on some of my weights there are little ridges and bumps where maybe the coating wasn't dipped and cured as well as it could have been. For me these small defects don't really affect the performance except that sometimes I can feel the little ridges/bumps under my hand a little bit depending on how I pick the weight up, but I don't feel like it would warrant going through the hassle of a return. I wonder if maybe all weights of this kind might have similar small defects as part of the manufacturing process. All in all these are good weights for the money and I'm glad I choose to get them instead of the vinyl ones.

Well, the delivery woman said, "Look out, this one is REALLY heavy (I had seven packages)." "That's because I bought two 7 lb. dumbbells, and I'll bet they're both in one box", said I. Yep!! We had a good laugh... They were really well-wrapped (thank you, CAP) and the neoprene covering seems to be of high quality. Would NOT hesitate to order from this company again. I've bought from CAP before, but always in a brick & mortar. Nice to see that they take care when shipping, as well. Highly recommend!
