A wonderful starter pack, I purchased an additional set of 30, 35, 40 and 45's to go along with the set of 5-25's. There is a very strong odor, suggest washing each piece outside before setting up inside. Overall good quality and great price.

Great deal. Yes, they are packed coated in oil to inhibit rust, so they each have to be washed and rinsed with a soapy cloth. And they need to de-gas for sever days for the "new rubber" smell to go away, but this is pretty standard for this type of weight. The base was easy to install with an 11/16 ratchet/wrench. I agree with another reviewer that it is better to put the nuts on the outside of the frame. All around very solid and good quality.

This is a very good product. Solid. Sturdy and easily accommodates the set of 6 barbells I bought. There is, however, one major problem, and that is the Instructions are woefully inadequate. That is why I have only given them 4 stars. The major issue with assembly is that they do not tell you that securing the locknuts has a point where a considerable amount of torque is needed to get past the lock point. I thought the product was defective and contacted customer service (to their credit responded within a few hours), and they told me the following: "The lock nuts have a lining on the inside that the bolts must pass through to tighten. You may need to use a tool to hold the nut while screwing in the bolt, as it needs force to pass through. Once you have passed through this lining, you will be able to tighten down". What they didn't mention is that it requires the use of vise-grip locking pliers to accomplish this. They only provide an Allen wrench, which, unless you have a Herculean grip, is impossible to turn. So buy this and be aware this is an assembly need: the supplied Allen wrench, PLUS a vice-grip plier.

I was worried when I first order because some of the reviews had mentioned a strong smell or that some of the weights didn’t arrive, but I didn’t experience any of those issues. The smell was not really there and didn’t smell up my house nor did I have to air them out, they all came as they should and are better quality than I thought. The stand is much sturdier than I had expedited as well, and all the handle grips are smooth and not spiky or sharp. Over all I’d say this is a very good starter set either a good weight range! Definitely would recommend to everyone.

dumbbells 5/5 stand 1/5 CAP makes decent weights for the price -- not much can go wrong you'd think the stand would also be hard to get wrong, but: 1. the screws are of the absolute worst quality 2. they don't even provide you the tools to put it together (you will need plies or wrench for this, and you will need A LOT of forearm strength to hold the nut as you fix it in place) this is the second CAP stand I bought, the other design is just as terrible (I bought them at once) to sum up: do buy CAP weights, do NOT buy CAP anything that requires to be put together

Great set for the price. They don’t smell wonderful but it does say it’s “recycled content” so I expect a bit of an old tire smell. Not too bad. Definitely a great deal for the quality of weights
