  • Canvia vs Meural 2
Color: Black
I bought the Canvia and the Meural 2 both for side by side comparison. I really wanted to like the Canvia but I don’t feel like it is quite ready for prime-time. If you are only interested in displaying their artwork, then the Canvia in my opinion is superior to the Meural2. The way it changes the color of the artwork based on the light around it is pretty awesome. It adjusts dynamically. For example, I had a picture of a sunset and then turned on blue lights near it and the picture of the sunset adjusted automatically to be like the night sky with dark blues, etc. With the Meural2, it only can adjust the brightness. However, I bought it with the intent for displaying family photos not for artwork. Neither one gives you very much space for that although the Meural 2 does allow you to use an SD card. What was very frustrating about the Canvia was the process to upload photos. Although you could use the app to upload photos, you could not add them to any playlist. You had to use the web to upload photos if you wanted to add them to a playlist. However, in the web, you could only add one photo at a time instead of being able to multi select them. Then, if you wanted to adjust or crop the photo, you had to go back to the app instead of using the web. Furthermore, when you were trying to upload multiple photos to a playlist, it kept adding the same photo with the same name even though you selected a different photo. It was just awkward to use and not a good user experience. They need to spend more time working on their interface. Meural on the other hand has a leg up on interfaces because of Netgear. I found that their app was straight forward and very easy to use. The one disappointing factor is that for that amount of money, they only offer 8 GB of space which is appalling in this day and age. Overall, I felt the way that Canvia displayed artwork and photos were superior but the difficulty of using the interface was too much to overcome for my tastes, this the reason for my returning the Canvia. Perhaps they will overcome these issues in the future with better software. ... show more

  • The apps (desktop and mobile) are primitive and bearly functional.
Color: White
The concept, color, resolution, construction is all good actually very good. Its beautiful to watch and I am using in my home art gallery as a way to reclaim wall space. But the apps are garbage, which lessens the 'dynamicness' of the frame. If you envisioned changing pics, galleries, or even settings on a drop of a dime forget it. This BS application doesn't set up easily and I'm a techie A day later I'm still not clear on how you manage the local content (not web based). It is not integrated with anything. Drive locations, flash drives, alexa, chromecast, major cloud drives....etc. Out of date tech given the 2019 release date and the user guide is incoherent. A better/more clearly written user guide would address some of these shortcomings. Too much trail and error. This is $150 thing w/ a $400 sticker. Last thought...if this was a more mainstream product, then rooting it would be figured and give us some options. ... show more

  • Great product, love it
Color: Black
I was a bit apprehensive before actually buying Canvia, but it has turned out to be awesome. Its a big ticket item purchase and also its a completely new product. We also considered Meural and as much as went to see it in the beta store. Meural looked good but still it had that feel of a regular screen or monitor. Finally, we went ahead with trying Canvia and purchased it from Amazon due to 3 reasons: (i) Canvia's display quality (kudos to their proprietary technology) (ii) Free 2500 artworks even if you don't buy subscription (iii) company is based in US and their customer support is also here. Canvia is definitely a huge step up from Meural when it comes to display quality. Artsense, as claimed by the company has an awesome effect that makes any painting look like a real one. You can see textures and brushstrokes like you would see in a real painting. Apart from the technology, Canvia has a lot of new features that look intimidating when you go through their online tutorials for the first time. I had lot of questions as well and I was surprised with the quick responses from the support team. Once I understood the features properly, Canvia has been lot of fun. Our guests get mesmerized by the quality and resemblance to other wall art (or even printed photographs). I have access to a lot of artworks from modern and contemporary artists as part of their premium collection which is free for one year. It looks like a growing list and hope they will add more (one of the reasons we decided on Canvia was that they provide 2500 artworks free irrespective of subscription which is really generous). However, given the quality of the Canvia display and great premium content we are actually looking forward to be on the premium subscription once the trial period is over. We hope that by that time they will improve their list even further in next one year. ... show more

  • High quality frame with amazing support
Color: Wood
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. If you are searching for a photo frame to display high quality artwork, get this frame. Zero pixels even when you zoom in, accurate colors in all light conditions, and almost convinces me I am seeing texture. My initial outof the box setup experience was disappointing until I called support. Imagine my surprise when I found the CEO answering the call. He walked me through setting up the frame properly and answered my endless questions on using the app. I wanted to create an Alexa skill to voice control the frame (I am a developer). Canvia supported my effort completely. Now, I probably own the only Alexa controlled art frame on the planet. Lol! Even with app/software that is somewhat non-intuitive, given the stellar support... This is totally recommended! ... show more
