  • Excellent camera, 4 days overseas delivery (wow!)
Style: Camera Only
Excellent mid-range camera with very good stabilization. Bonus point for the US edition of the device that DOES have a microphone input while the european one does NOT, ahem. Two little minuses: first, a firmware update for the touchscreen software could be useful: it uses from time to time too small UI elements making it difficult to select them. Second, the battery charges through the camera and it would be better, for a mid-range camera, to ship it with an external charger allowing to have one battery in the cam and another one charging instead of a thru-cam charging; I guess it's just another way to make the customer pay an extra for a charger. Sharp images, face tracking, very good zoom, amazing stabilization. I need more time to test deeper. For the time being, I would say it's a good price/quality ratio. Mega bonus points to Amazon.com: I ordered the camera from Paris, France through amazon.com (and not amazon.fr) on the 30th of October and it was sent from US and delivered to my door in France the morning of the 2nd of November while the 1st of November is a legal holiday here. Woah, woah, woah. Disclaimer: I am a former CTO of amazon.fr. ... show more

  • Battery wont charge
Style: Camera Only
The camera does what it says and everything is great for the price except the battery. For some reason the batter is total garbage and will not charge. I use the camera for podcast and have it plugged up the whole time so it is good enough for what I need but I will have to order a new battery for it. ... show more

  • good price for the quality
Style: Camera Only
I can't say enough about the Canon Vixia. if I had the money I would upgrade to the XA11 for about &1200 but for a entry level video camera the Vixia R80 and R800 are great buys they will get the job done. You will need to change a few settings. battery turns off after a few minutes of no recording and change setting to get the clean output aka no words on the video playback/output. Again there are many YouTube videos that can walk you through this. under $300 good video camera. Easy to use. solid quality. ... show more

  • Great Camera, but does not 'Live Stream'
Style: Camera Only
I bought the camera so I could shoot videos for You Tube. I knew I would eventually want to do some live streaming and when I saw that listed among the features I bought the camera. I like the quality of the camera and the videos are great. But there are a couple things that earned the 2 star rating. First of all, the camera is not recognized by my laptop computer so to u load videos I have to remove the media card and put that into my computer. I contacted them and was told that the camera is not compatible with all computer. Mine is only 1-1/2 years old and is a Toshiba so not an off brand. Second, this is direct from their description of the camcorder .... Additional Features > Live Streaming Feature. so when I was ready to do some Live Stream Videos on YouTube I discovered that the camera is not compatible with computers. You can record, pull the SD card and put that in your computer to download videos. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, so I wrote to the and asked "I am trying to connect my Vixia HF R80 to my computer so I can do a live YouTube video and use the camcorder as my webcam, but the computer does not see the camcorder so there is no option to select it. Do I need to down load something to make them compatible?" Here is the answer I received from Canon ..... "Thank you for contacting Canon product support regarding the the features of your VIXIA HF R80. I can assist you with your camcorder. I understand that you want to utilize the VIXIA HF R80 for live streaming. However, the VIXIA HF R80 is not designed for live streaming of for use as a webcam. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance with your VIXIA HF R80. Thank you for choosing Canon." Other than that it is a great camera and shoots good video. Oh and it does not come with a manual, it is online. ... show more

  • My Church Is Happy!
Style: Camera Only
I purchased this video camera for our church Facebook Live broadcast to replace the iPhone smartphone the operator was using. The video quality is very good and the camera works as advertised. They never use it on the battery (AC power) so I can't speak to the time it lasts before having to be recharged. ... show more

  • Super nice little camcorder
Style: Camera Only
Super nice little camcorder. I was so used to my 15 year old Sony which I thought was small at the time. This camcorder is so small and lightweight. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but I am really enjoying recording family events especially with the holidays. Great zoom in/out lens, and good picture quality. If your looking for new camcorder, without spending lots of money, then this is the one. I recommend. ... show more
