Never, ever, ever use bootleg ink for your Cannon printer. The printer will stop at the worst time. I had to go through a Youtube video to figure out the process to get the phony cartridges out and replace them. The printer is designed to only let you remove the cartridges when they are empty and the phony ones will stop working in the middle. They are a lot cheaper, but not worth it in the end. ... show more

I have use non-Canon cartridges, and while some work fine, some just do not. Sometimes the chip does not register, and you have to pry the used-up cartridge out. These may be costly, hence 4 stars, but they are at least dependable.

I have purchased a few different types of ink for the Canon Maxify MB2720 printer, and I can honestly say, ONLY USE THE GENUINE CANON INK CARTRIDGES! There are cheaper ink options like this one from MIROO: MIROO Compatible Ink Cartridge Replacement for Canon PGI-1200XL PGI-1200 XL Ink, High Yield (2 Black 2 Cyan 2 Magenta 2 Yellow), Compatible with Canon Maxify MB2320 MB2120 MB2720 MB2020 Printer. For $23.77, MIROO will give you two complete sets of XL ink! That sounds like a great deal! However, their cartridges completely broke my Canon Maxify 2320 printer. I had to upgrade to the Canon MB2720 printer, and I promised myself never to buy cheap ink from China again. Even though it's more expensive ($34.67 for just one XL black cartridge), stick with these genuine Canon products if you want to have consistently print jobs at the highest quality without worries of your printer completely breaking. When I purchased this XL Black cartridge, I was given the option of 1-day free shipping with Amazon Prime! The ink showed up the next day, and I was back in business.
