Last 3 cartridges purchased have NOT lasted anywhere near what it claims it should print!
This Canon PG-245XL printer ink cartridge does NOT last anywhere near as long as it claims. I've found that these cartridges, which are supposed to be the XL (more printing) are going empty just as fast as the smaller/regular ones. Also, be sure to notice the prices for these cartridges. Amazon has them for 1 x PG-245XL Black = $25.99, 2 Pack = $139.99, 3 Pack = $198.99, 4 Pack = $257.99, 5 Pack = $315.99. Anyone else see a problem with Amazon's math? You can buy 5 individual cartridges for just $129.95, as opposed to purchasing the 5 pack "deal" for over $300. That's inconceivable! While the CANON PIXMA MG2520 is a great printer, the last 3 Black cartridges that we've purchased from Amazon directly have run out VERY quickly and haven't lasted anywhere near the claims of others on here. Maybe we received a bad batch? We don't know. We will be needing to order more ink soon, but we may look into the generic/aftermarket/non-Canon ones this time around since this low ink issue keeps happening. Finally, we've cleaned the heads, run the alignment, printing on Draft or Regular mode, and we are NOT talking about the software telling us that the "ink is low". We are talking about installing a brand new cartridge on April 3rd, then printing maybe 100 sheets of half page text, and it's already spotty and running out. That's simply unacceptable. A good example would be going to a dealership to buy a car that states that it gets 35 MPG, yet after purchase it only gets 12 MPG, even with minimal use. :-/

Beware: only printed about 70-75 copies before dying
I bought a genuine cartridge, xl size, black. Yesterday I printed 50 plain text pages. Today I printed 30 plain text pages and about 20-25 in, the cartridge started dying, only partially printing the last 5. WTF? The cartridges are expensive and don't last worth a damn. And the printer it goes with is a total piece of crap, too. Total waste of money.

barely any ink
I fell into the trap and bought the "XL" thinking it would give me more pages than the regular cartridge....WRONG. This is such a scam and waste of money. At $25 for this & less than 70 pages printed (probably more like 50 in the last 2 months, but I'm rounding up) it costs more than $0.35 per page. Wayyy more than just going somewhere to print. So annoying. Do yourself a favor and listen to the other reviews that this is a ripoff. I am about to purchase an "off" brand because the name brand clearly means NOTHING.

DO NOT BUY - POOREST # OF COPIES PER CARTRIDGE EVER!!!!!
Horrible! I can't say anything else. These XL cartridges will not give you any more than 120 copies. Poorest ink cartridges on the market. And they are XL. OMG!! My HP printer cartridges give me more than 300 copies and those are the regular sized ones. The XL ones give me at least 1.5Xs more. SO that makes Canon look pretty bad!! I'm sorry I bought this printer. Next garage sale that comes up it's going in it! I may have saved a couple of dollars when I bought it BUT the ink cartridges have put me in the poor house. Just purchased generic brand ink cartridges to run in the Canon and they say they'll print 300 copies per cartridge AND they only cost $13.97.....half of what the XL cost here on Amazon. We shall see. If they do print 300 copies, I'll be back to report the outcomes.

It says XL but lasts only 3 days after printing ...
It says XL but lasts only 3 days after printing 30 small brochures with minimal graphic and color. The single cartridges lasted longer ( one week) after doing about 60 brochures double the amount that the XL cartridge did. Makes me wonder if the cartridges are full.

It’s just not affordable
I have a canon MX492 wireless all-in-one printer and this is the ink (PG-245) that it requires. Honestly, I’ve been considering purchasing an entirely new printer because the price of the ink just continues to increase. It’s reached all the up to $50+ dollars sometimes now! I found this ink being the lowest price, both online and in various stores; however, when I compare the sizes of the regular standard ink cartridge to the XL version of this one that I just recently purchased, I see no obvious difference in size. They appear to be exactly the same!? I don’t know…. I just think this ink is beginning to skyrocket and it may be more budget friendly for me to simply buy a new printer after doing some research on various ink prices…. I’m including a few photos of this XL cartridge compared to that standard size version. Hope that helps!

Great product, terrible online experience.
I have always bought this Canon brand ink for my printer, and it has always lasted several months and the print quality is beautiful. I normally buy them in store, but I thought I would try online because my local store was temporarily out. I guess that was my mistake. I ordered this product, a single black ink cartridge, and there were some flags. It was more expensive here than I remember it being in store, but it was 5-7 dollars and the convenience of ordering it made up my mind. Second, the wait time was two weeks. Well that was fine, I wasn't completely out of ink yet. I ran out of ink a little over a week later, and I was anticipating this coming in the mail. On the day it was supposed to arrive, my order was inexplicably cancelled. They had two entire weeks to cancel, and chose to wait until the arrival date. No reason was given for the cancelation, and while they did refund my money, this put me in a tight spot. My local store was still out, and I ended up ordering refilled ink cartridges for much cheaper, and they shipped in just over a day. So while I have been a loyal customer of this brand, I will most likely continue buying the cheaper, refilled versions that work just as well. I feel I am getting better value for my money that way. Their product is still just as good, but my online shopping experience has turned me off them entirely. 5 star product, 1 star customer care. As a side note, I love my Canon printer and will probably continue to buy Canon products in store, aside from ink.

My new Canon cartridge preference (XL)
All the advantages of a NEW (not a refilled) cartridge. Clean printing and 100% reliable. And I strongly recommend this XL version. The standard 245 cartridge seem to go empty pretty quickly. I didn't count pages but I'm pretty sure this XL lasted well over twice as long. I've switched to XL's only.
