The Cannon Nokomis Hybrid touring kayak paddle with a lightweight carbon-fiber shaft and fiberglass-reinforced nylon blades offers a great handling, smooth paddling, lightweight touring paddle at a great price. The Nokomis blade design reduces noise and blade flutter in the water and it's dihedral angle provides balance and strength so your paddling is practically effortless. The blades are made from super-durable fiberglass-reinforced nylon for longevity. The aerospace grade unidirectional carbon-fiber shaft offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, just the right shaft flex, ease of use and reduced swing weight. The 2-piece shaft is ovalized in both grip areas for optimal control and has push-button offset adjustment for 0 degree and 60 degree left or right hand control paddle feathering. Durable drip rings are included to keep water from running down the paddle and down your sleeves. An added benefit of having a 2-piece kayak paddle is easy storage and transport to-and- from your paddling adventures. Unfortunately, the plastic wrapping was torn and one of the drip rings fell out or it was a return and they kept one of the drip rings. I decided to keep the paddle and ordered more drip rings rather than dealing with the hassle of returning the paddle. The paddle is very light as expected and I really like the looks of it. I also like the dihedral angle. I haven't been able to use it on water yet since it's winter, but I will update in the Spring after using the paddle with my kayak on the water. ... show more

I purchased two of these paddles in advance of a family kayak outing. Both paddles arrived on time and neither appeared to be damaged in any way during shipping. Unfortunately, the locking mechanism on one of the paddles didn't work on arrival as the pushbutton didn't engage or click into place to hold the two pieces of the paddle together. It's possible this was due to a damaged component (see photo) but it's hard to say since the pushbutton wouldn't engage or release either. I figured we could make it work and manage it on the trip but was not impressed with the quality of the mechanism. Once on the water - and after only about 50 yards of paddling from the launch - my 12 year old daughter called out for help saying that her paddle broke. I assumed it had simply come apart due to the latch but soon realized it had completely folded over and broke while she was paddling (see photo). I will emphasize that she was in open water. She did not push the paddle off of the bottom of the pond, she did not lean on it or put any unusual pressure on it in any way. She did paddle with the paddle facing in the wrong direction during her paddle stroke (the face of the paddle should have been facing the other way) but the only pressure on the surface of the paddle was from the water she was paddling through. I've never seen this kind of thing before (even with cheap rental paddles) and cannot help but question the quality of the paddle. For what it's worth the other paddle - used by my 10-year old did not have any issues. I'd like to follow up with the seller to obtain a refund or replacement but I can't seem to find a way to do that. Simply returning it via Amazon didn't seem right either. I wasn't expecting a high-end paddle at this price point but I did expect a product that held up to normal use. ... show more
