  • Small, but functional
Size: 2000G Color: Navy Blue
This was very easy to set up and tear down. It was perfect for the car tent I use. It took the chill out and kept it comfortable until the sun came up. I haven't used it to cook with and don't plan on it. I did buy the small hose that was suggested to use with the small green propane jugs. All in all I think it's great. Also, I did cross ventilate in the tent, but it still did a great job warming up the tent. ... show more

  • Great kit for Tailgate, Campground, Car, or Boat.
Size: 2000G Color: Orange
The media could not be loaded. I tested this pretty thoroughly at home before using in the field. This is an awesome little piece of kit. It's not perfect, but it's hard to beat. Starting with the cons- *The burner platform for "cook only" mode (just lower base section by itself) is too wide for many common single-person pots (pics show the very popular Stanley Adventure pot... it wobbles on the burner and barely makes contact with the support legs... not advisable to cook like this). *The burner platform for the "cook + heat" mode has a little tab for switching back and forth from cook to heat, and this also causes small pots to wobble, but it's manageable. *The adjustment knob is not marked, so you need to "feel" your way from closed/off to max fuel/flame. *No instructions for adjusting air jet. *The heater screen is permanently attached to the top of the cage with a crude rivet. This is the only part of the whole unit that I didn't think was excellent quality. I suspect this will be the eventual point of failure. Everything else is very solid. That may seem like a lot of cons, but it's all very manageable. The pros: *Excellent quality throughout, with the exception of the rivet mentioned above. *Lightweight construction. *Nesting design for compact storage. *Heats very quickly in all modes. *Great range of adjustment from very low to very hot. *Very good stability for larger and heavier pots and pans. *Easy to switch from iso to propane fuel. A few other observations and suggestions: *Mark the knob and the base so you know where "off" is. *No built-in piezo. Need to bring/use a lighter or matches to start it. Long-shaft lighter is recommended since the cage will keep you from getting small match or lighter in. *The get an extension hose and/or adapter for attaching a propane bottle. They are cheap and well-worth it for the added flexibility. *The metal top discolored with high heat. Not pretty, but I think this is probably normal. You can see in the video that my well-used stainless steel moka-pot is practically brown after over a decade of indoor/outdoor use. *Keep the cardboard packing material that comes inside the base. When you pack it up after use, it keeps the cage from rattling and banging around when it's nested in the base. Overall, the cons are all manageable and the pros vastly outweigh them. This is a great piece of kit for tailgating, campgrounds, car-camping, or boating. I will be using it in all of these applications. ... show more

  • Worth the money!
Hi all, this review is for the LARGE unit, model CG-3000B. Overall, I give this model a 4. Things I like about it: -It has a standing pilot light very similar to Mr. Heater Buddy heaters. The piezo ignitor is activated by pushing in and turning the gas knob and this is what lights the pilot light. It took 4 clicks to ignite and stayed lit in 10 m.p.h. wind for an hour today. -The tilt switch worked without any trouble. Tested it 3 times. -The gas hose and regulator are durable, no issues connecting to the propane tank or to the heater unit. -The heating screen portion was very evenly heated, glowing evenly all around. The gas knob allows for infinite adjustments and does not change position unless you deliberately adjust it. -The cooktop works very well and is functionally sound. I used a Cancooker Jr. with 1/2 gallon of water as a trial and the unit boiled it within a few minutes. The flip-out pot grips are very nice and the whole unit was stable/sturdy enough that I didn't worry about it collapsing or tipping over with the pot on it. Tthings I don't like about it: -The gas knob is plastic and feels somewhat fragile. There is a little bit of slop as well as some binding in its movement so be careful when adjusting the flame. It did not malfunction but the knob mechanism really doesn't seem to be well built. -The unit comes with a small wire rod that is used to adjust the cooktop vent. It works well enough but there doesn't seem to be a place to stow it on the unit... not a big deal but I'm sure I'll lose it in the woods. However, it's not a special tool or anything... a simple tooth pick, long wooden matchstick or similar item will work just as well. ... show more
