Smaller than I thought it was going to be. How ever will hold like 15 pounds of lead in a cast iron pot with no issue. Made Of good quality materials. Would be great for backpacking.

My son likes to cook on the fire pit in my backyard, but I didn’t want a permanent tripod for a big cast iron pot. This little thing does the job that a permanent one would, without the hassle of building something. It’s sturdy enough for the large pot, lid, and about 2 gallons of chili!

I've used this nightly for over a week to suspend a 5-quart pot over some INTENSELY HOT campfires, and it has held up spectacularly. (I would not recommend heavy cast iron or much larger than 5 quart aluminum pots, however-- but a larger version of this same product is available for more weighty cookware) The threaded rods break down to a small size for travel, and the hanging chain/pin design makes changing cooking height very quick and easy. I expected for this to hold up a regular 2 quart pot steel and it does not.
