Great workhorse sun hat.

I purchased this hat to wear on our family's week-long Orlando theme park extravaganza vacation. I was VERY happy with the hat's performance for this purpose. Here's what I loved about this hat: -Extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear. I could barely tell I had a hat on. It fit comfortably, not too tightly, and when I took it off, I did not have hat hair. -Cool to wear in the Florida heat. The fabric was cool and smooth to the touch and didn't trap heat. The ventilation band helped air flow into the hat. It did not feel wet or sweaty and if I was sweating at all, I didn't notice it. -Did indeed block the sun. I was under no illusions that my sunscreen was going to cut the mustard in all that humidity and heat (though I doggedly applied it anyway). The hat kept the sun off my face and I did not get any color of any kind, no redness, no tan, no freckles, nothing. -Stayed on during every ride due to the chin strap. It was easy to operate the strap and to loosen and tighten it on the fly. -I could abuse this hat and it still looked good. There were times I needed to take it off and I could let it dangle down my back, sit on it, wad it up and shove it in my purse, whatever I wanted to do, and it snapped back every time to its original shape. It packs absolutely flat. -Washable (I did it by hand because I was doing some other stuff by hand at the same time, but I think I could have tossed it into the machine) and dries very quickly. Looks as fresh as it did the day I bought it. -VERY cheap for the number of benefits the hat provides. I want to buy it in a few more colors for next warm season. It would be good for going to a kid's ball game, Renaissance fair, etc. It is not a "pretty" hat, per se. Wearing it; you will probably not feel like Jackie Kennedy sunning herself on the White House lawn. (I didn't.) But it absolutely does the job I bought it for and I would buy it again.

Excellent Hat
I love this hat and I'm not a hat person! I bought this hat as my job required me to work outdoors. I tried baseball caps and other styles but the bak of my neck was always exposed to the sun. Living in Florida and working outdoors in the sun year 'round this an take a toll on you more than you realize. ( especially me since I shave my head ) I had bought a few mesh baseball caps and while breathability was good I was worried it didn't protect my head from the sun. I wear sun block to help but more protection is better. I decided to research more hat options on Amazon and came across this one. The hat is very well made, excellent quality. The vents along the top of the hat allow the breeze to pass through so you can cool off quickly without having heat built up in the hat. The adjustable band has a good locking plastic cinch so you can adjust the hat to fit your head. It seems to be one size fits all, since I'm a smaller person I had no problems with fit and adjusting it to stay on my head. The brim of the hat is wide enough to protect me from the sun, it covers my eyes and the back of my neck. The brim is also the right firmness to adjust it and shape it to your preferences. I bend the back of the brim a little lower to cover my neck. The stitching is excellent and I'll soon test it for it's washability since it says it is machine washable. The hat is super light and I forget often that I'm wearing a hat. The neck strap hangs low enough to remind me or when I hit the brim on something close to me because I'm not used to the circumference of the brim on my head. If anyone is debating on buying this hat, from my perspective it's an amazing purchase. For the price, the quality and features make it a bargain.

Nice hat for the money.
I bought this as a backup for my similar Columbia. This hat seems slightly less durable but worth the price I paid for it (1/2 the cost of the Columbia). The brim is great for keeping the burning rays at bay and the headband can be cinched down to stay on my head in a stiff breeze. The crown allows good air flow as well. Perhaps I was just lucky but the hat arrived within 2 weeks. Since it was shipped form China, I find that very satisfactory. I have not really applied much wear and tear yet but I see no reason why it won't take normal abuse for quite some time to come. I would buy another if a need arises for this type hat.

Decent hat at a great price with lots of color choices

The GOOD—lightweight, packs flat, Amazon description claims UPF 50, good ventilation, one size does seem to fit all (or at least most), lots of colors to choose from, chin strap with easy adjustment, head band adjustment, and the fantastic price. The NOT QUITE AS GOOD—no UPF certification on the actual hat itself, the ventilation might allow some sun on a bald head (if this is you I’d suggest sunscreen as a backup), and brim tends to fold up or down in moderate ocean breezes. BOTTOM LINE—A decent hat that offers sun protection at prices so low you could have a different color for each day of the week. Is it as good as my tried and true Tilley that has floated in three oceans and numerous bays, rivers, streams and protecting my dome from blistering sun and pouring rain? No. But, Camo Coll does a good job at a tiny fraction of the cost. Great for yard work or for situations where a lost hat is a distinct possibility.

Best had I've ever had

Best had I've ever had! I have a tiny head--my head actually measures smaller than the smallest size indicated for this hat, but I was able to use the little bungee drawstring on the back to make it fit properly. With the chin strap cinched up, it stayed securely in place in 30 mph winds. And it even looks good! It's a little goofy, but cute. Most hats look terrible on my tiny cranium, but this one looks nice. It also stands up to extreme Texas outdoor weather in the middle of July; I was at the lake all day, and the hat kept the sun off my scalp, face and neck, it got wet and dried quickly, it stayed cool and ventilated, and again, it stayed put in strong lake winds. The quality seems decent, but I've only had it for about a week, so I can't tell yet how durable it is. I got the light sage color, which is a nice neutral color and doesn't clash terribly with the rest of my clothes. I really think I'll get another one in a different color since it's so hard to find a hat that fits well.

Meh
The brim is rather shorter than I expected (It's 3 inches all around) and while it keeps the sun off of my head and out of my eyes, it doesn't protect the lower 2/3 of my face, unless the sun is directly overhead. And it's very flimsy. It came in a completely flattened plastic bag and does not even hold its shape unless it is being worn. It must be hand washed and air dried (If I'm correctly reading the tiny "care" tag inside, which consists only of tiny symbols either with an X on them or not). I've only had it for a week, but as I bought it for daily outdoor exercise, I frankly don't expect it will last too long. IMO not really worth $12.

The Boonie of all Boonies
🔮 UPDATE 2026, almost 8 years later ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️++++ This hat has made it through probably 100+ trips. It’s been to other countries. It’s been on backpacking trips. It has encountered bears. It’s been kayaking, river tubing, mountain climbing, beach skimming. It now clocks in mostly in the garden or at a local park, but it’s never called out sick ✊. I’ve graduated college, gone through a divorce, moved countless times, floundered, even. But the hat remained steadfast. The face underneath remained unaltered by the UVs from above and the metaphorical UVs all around. What was one of my very first Amazon purchases for a trip in my very early 20s has shaped my silhouette. It is now the staple piece my child will likely remember me by in their memoir written in old age. After all this time, only a slight fray of the string from my soul dog taking a nibble (may he RIP 🙏) and overall fading to show the passing of almost a decade. Will update in another 8 years if I’m afforded them. Great purchase. Original review 2018: (OG is photo 1) I bought this hat before a trip to Death Valley National Park and it was a complete life saver. It's not thick & hot like a ball cap. I use it to cut the grass when I don't feel like slathering on sunscreen and it works great for that as well. Probably one of my best Amazon purchases.

Nice sun hat--venting is great and fit is nice

This is a perfect sun hat. I ordered larger size because I am tired of hats coming too small. This hat not only has a chin strap, but it also has a stretch draw string to tighten the hat size if you need it (what a lovely idea). The brim is wide and firm to limit sun exposure, but not so wide to be feminine. I think it will be okay after washing, but I am hoping it doesn't get soft or flimsy after washing. The hat is extremely comfortable and the meshing around the side of the hat just under the top crown provides much needed cooling without exposing the crown of the head to direct sun (for those with thinning hair on top of their head). The only thing missing is an option to snap the sides up like an aussie safari/outback hat (yes, I realize it would defeat the purpose of having a wide brim limit sun exposure, but sometimes it is a nice option).
