I've been playing Ping drivers for years and always said I never hit a Callaway driver I liked, mostly based on feel. I played (and loved) the Anser, G30, and G400, all of which have a very satisfying feel and sound when you hit them in the middle of the face, which is good and bad. It's good because you get plenty of feedback and can immediately tell when you've flushed one, but bad because you're gonna lose ball speed on off-center hits. The Mavrik's sound and feel are more muted. More of a "thud" than a crisp "whack." So you don't get as much feedback, but having hit all of these clubs on simulators, the difference is pretty remarkable in terms of performance numbers. With my swing speed of around 98, my ball speed is typically around 140. When I miss the middle of the face with my Pings, the ball speed drops to the low 120s. But with the Mavrik, it stays closer to 140, which means the ball might go a little higher or lower, but I'm not losing much distance. Simply, it means the Mavrik is longer and straighter. Having hit it MANY times now, I'm starting to feel the difference between center and off-center hits, enough feedback such that I'm not missing that satisfying "whack" from my Pings at all anymore. Loved this club so much I got the wife a new Mavrik Max driver, and a 4 wood and 4 hybrid to replace all the Ping woods/hybrids in my bag, and we're loving all of these clubs! This club has been a lifesaver out of the fairway. I tend to fade my fairway woods a bit, but not this club. It gives me a nice draw. I hit it almost as long as my 5 wood and I get more loft and more draw.

I love this 7 wood.. I tried to use my 3 wood and it’s the most difficult one.. so I decided to try out the 7 callaway wood and I start hitting my balls better. I still top it sometimes but I think I will get better when I get used to it.. the loft of it help me to get the balls go higher than I use my free wood. I highly recommend it. ... show more

This club turned my game around. All of a sudden I'm right down the middle or at least in play almost every hole. Makes golf so much easier. My confidence is much higher because I'm giving myself so many more chances to score.     • I still suck but it's not the club's fault
Got this wood to replace my very old 3 wood (favorite club in my bag) and it has definitely been a great addition to my bag. Getting more distance and pop than my old 3 wood, but still needing to work out the kinks swinging this new club. Very solid all around.
