  • PEOPLE NEED TO REALIZE
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
This IS the game we have been asking for. For so long we wanted boots on the ground again without ridiculous abilities and boost packs and poorly designed maps. I truly feel like I am playing old school call of duty again and it has brought back my love for the franchise. The campaign is nothing to write home about, however it is a scenario that has been done so many times by so many games and they did a great job recreating it. But we buy call of duty for the multiplayer and zombies, not the campaign. Multiplayer I am in love with. The gun selection is amazing, the supply boxes are abundant, I never feel as if I need to spend extra money on this game for credits to get more. The maps are so nicely done, they are creative and well placed. They have a great flow to them. And regarding the battlefield comparison with size and leveloution. This game was never meant to be something like that, if it tried battlefield would destroy them. This is strictly a fast paced arena shooter. The score streaks are very well thought up and not overboard at all. My only complaint is it still doesn t capture the I'm in war ambiance like world at war did. But it is close. Regarding the bugs. This is a NEWLY released game. They are working on fixes every single day and giving regular updates. So calm down. Regarding the balance of the weapons. Half the time it's people that suck and can't even use a overpowered weapon anyways complaining that something is OP because they keep getting killed by talented players. Yes their may be some balance issues but it is no where as bad as people complain. Regarding the graphics. It is a nice looking game, the reason why they can't drastically improve on it is because this is a fast paced multiplayer game that NEEDS a steady 60fps. Every stutter in a game like this is highly noticable. Their is more going on than people expect in a game like this with score streaks going off, explosions, spawning and so much more. I'd gladly sacrifice graphics just to keep the game perfectly smooth. I bought a console for smooth and seamless multiplayer. I bought a gaming computer for stunning graphics. If you people have a problem please go to pc. Zombies. They managed to really impress me. A secondary gamemode like this needs to be over the top and tons of fun. The sheer selection of abilities. The giant intricate maps with so much to do and the fact they truly made it Nazi zombies again truly won me over. It is dark, scary and creepy. Most of all it is damn fun. Overall this is a extremely well built and designed game and I plan on having many many hours. Do i think it deserves 5 stars? Yes but barely. But it earned it. I just ask in the future they try to make it at least a 10 hour campaign. ... show more

  • Why the hate? This is a fun game!
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
Some background, I am an old school FPS player that hasn't really gotten into the COD franchise the past 8 or so years. I really enjoyed the first two COD's on PC, ironically back when it was a WW2 theme with single player emphasis. Those were super fun. The single player in this game is like all of the recent COD campaigns, ridiculously short. If you want to buy this for single player, don't bother. I actually bought a few of the last boots on ground games, and they had replayability due to the scenarios you could play, even in coop with a friend. I never got into multiplayer on any of the COD games because it was just a bunch of random people running and jumping all over the place. It didn't have the same realism that the campaign modes had, where you move around purposefully and tactically. I just thought the multiplayer was too arcade like. I enjoy arcade play as much as anyone, but I didn't connect with COD as an arcade game. I was hoping for more Rainbow Six purpose. I won't even get into the jetpack games. To summarize, not a fan. Now on to COD WW2. This game has slowed things down, making it harder to just run around aimlessly with no purpose, jumping and shooting. It's still COD, but it's a little more realistic and...human. This game has made me play more than an hour of multiplayer for once. I'm playing a lot and enjoying the COD party everyone's been raving about. To add to my enjoyment, I am a history buff and love the backdrop of WW2. Yes, it's not exactly historically accurate, but the elements and environment are accurate enough to be enjoyable. Really enjoying the real weapons that the game weapons are based on. I didn't realize there were so many obscure weapons used in the war, but yes, all based on real weapons. I'm currently on 3rd prestige and I don't think I'm slowing down anytime soon. I bought the DLC and it's only added to the already fun experience. Maybe this game isn't for everyone, especially the arcade jetpackers who think games suck when you can't easily shoot people in the back, but I'm really enjoying it. ... show more

  • Great Game. Not understanding Bad reviews!!!
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
On purchase of this game, I have played it continuously for 4 hours. I have found it to be a good game. Download time for the application and update was 20 minutes. I found the multiplayer to be smooth and played quite well with a slight lag of game load times. However the headquarters part is more than a bit much. I found that confusing and hard to understand parts of it. Have not been able to access my game statistics outside of pregame lobbies though. I have played all of, and only play Call of Duty games online. I’m just not seeing why this is getting the bad reviews that it is. Download was quick and smooth. Game play in multiplayer was very smooth. I could live with out the game follow screens where they have top players. Just show the score board, who won and who lost and move on. 1* reviewers. Come on guys. You said last time you weren’t going to buy another COD game and here you are reviewing the latest one. This is the game everyone asked for at the launch of COD-IW. Which was a horrible game. 2 steps worse than COD-BO3, I deleted Infinite Warfare after 2 months because it was so bad and did not get any better. BO3 is next to go. The Jumpy, Jumpy, Boingy, Boingy, Spacey, Spacey crap is just that, crap. Glad to see Activision listened to it consumers and created a good game that plays well, and the maps are incredibly detailed. If you have problems with this game, get over it, or go play something else. I’m looking forward to seeing some more Remastered Modern Warfare games if they do that. Thank You! ... show more

  • Big Improvements
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
Overall this game is very fun. It is so nice to once again play a WWII game for a change. I first started playing the Medal of Honor series on the PS2 and moved to COD on the PS3. COD4 and MW2 will always be my favorites no matter what. Both of those games had a fun campaign and fun multiplayer. World at War had a good campaign but I wasn’t a big fan of the multiplayer. Black Ops, MW3, and Ghosts we’re all OK games. Games that I would never play again but were fun at the time. The other games I absolutely hated and refused to buy. I did not like the direction COD was going. COD was basically turning into halo. I was so excited for the release of WW2 and I will give all the details. First about the campaign. It’s disappointing. Bringing in a huge star like josh duhamel didn’t do anything. The story was ok, but a bit unrealistic. It’s basically you and your friends against the entire German army throughout the campaign. Everyone on the boat at D day pretty much died except for your friends. They also introduced more of a stealth aspect and it was ok. The biggest question is and remains, where is Japan? Only fighting in Europe is disappointing. The Nazi zombies is fun if you’re into that sort of thing. I was never into the whole zombies craze because I don’t feel like you are ever working towards anything. You can now level up in the zombies mode but you are still just trying to get to a higher level than you did last time. It is neve The Nazi zombies is fun if you’re into that sort of thing. I was never into the whole zombies craze because I don’t feel like you are ever working towards anything. You can now level up in the zombies mode but you are still just trying to get to a higher level than you did last time. So far the online multiplayer is fun. The number of maps is really small and I am getting very tired of playing on most of them. The weapons overall seems very balanced. This game has some nice customization when it comes to picking out your players outfit and appearance, but it still needs more. I love how you can pick a faction that gives you better perks for using certain weapons. I hate having to pay real money or pay with points to get better weapons and attachments. This game allows you to earn attatchments, camos, and titles. I’d rather earn things that pay for things with earned points or spending real money. It is cool how they give you challenges that can give you double XP, points, and supply drops. Supply drops are pretty cool because you can unlock some really awesome stuff but most of the supply drops are filled with pistol grips and useless emotes. One of the biggest disappointments about this game is the fact that there is no swastika. I don’t understand how call of duty thinks they can erase history by not including the swastika. People nowadays are too sensitive and get offended way too easily. You can’t erase history and I feel like the swastika should definitely be included in this game. ... show more

  • COD Got it Right- Black Americans Were Involved in Battle of the Buldge
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
Response to M. Wier’s incorrect statement that African- Americans weren’t involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Please read the following: Major Gerald Johnson article from “Lest We Forget” “The 333rd Field Artillery Group, which had been in support of the 105th Infantry Division at the beginning of the battle, was attached to the newly arrived 101st Airborne Division and ordered to move to the vicinity of Bastogne on December 19. This was a unit with a Black Headquarters and Headquarters Battery which was used interchangeably with white units as the need arose. When they received orders, the group moved to Bastogne with one white (the 771st) and two Black battalions (the 969th and 333rd Field Artillery Battallions). The 333rd Field Artillery Battalion moved to Bastogne at less than full strength. It had fought so far forward in support of the 106th Division that, after the evening of the 16th, the entire battalions had only five guns. This Battalion sustained heavier losses defending Bastogne than any other VIII Corps Artillery unit. It lost six officers, 222 enlisted men, nine guns, 34 trucks and 12 weapon carriers. The other Black unit in the 333d Group, the 969th, entered the defense of Bastogne by chance. It had been assigned to support the 28th Division and had been ordered to move west. When the enemy broke into the open, the battalion was already moving out of the Bastogne sector. On December 21, under heavy fire, it moved a half mile west of Bastogne where it manned the guns another unit had abandoned along with the remaining elements of the 333rd Battalion. The 969th was later recommended by Maj. Gen. Maxwell Taylor, commander of the 101st, for the Distinguished Unit Citation for its actions around Bastogne. The February 7, 1945 citation was the first award of a distinguished Unit Citation to a Black combat unit in World War II. Another Black battalion that took part In the Battle of the Bulge was the 578th Field Artillery which was attacked at Heckhuscheid. The men armed themselves with small arms then fought as infantry with the 424th Infantry Regiment whom they were supporting. On December 20, the battalion reverted to control of its artillery group and picked up a white howitzer battery and anti-aircraft platoon. On December 22, the battalion was attached to III Corps. Despite the long road marches required by these orders, the battalion fired 3,455 eight-inch rounds during the next few weeks. There were three Black Tank Destroyer Battalions in the Ardennes; the 630th, 701st and 502d. Gunners of the 630th formed a roadblock in Sibret and fought as infantrymen to delay a company of the 5th German Parachute Division on December 20. Elements of the 701st fought with B Company, 35th Tank Battalion west of Lutrebois on the 30th and ambushed a German Panzer Company that was attacking Alpha Company. A platoon of the 502nd provided the majority of the firepower remaining in the 28th Division's reserve when the division commander combined it with survivors of the 110th infantry and 28th Division stragglers. On the morning of December 22d the unit beat off the first attack by lead elements of the German 5th Parachute Division. After the Americans realized, on December 17, that a major attack was in progress, more than 60,000 men and 11,000 vehicles were on the move to reinforce the First Army. Over the next eight days, three times that number were diverted to meet the Germans in the Ardennes. Among the units diverted was the 761st Tank Battalion, the first Black tank battalion to see World War II action. The 761st was initially assigned to the 26th Division of XII Corps in the Third Army and spent 183 consecutive days in action after being committed in Morville-les-Vic in November 1944. The unit ended its commitment when it met the Russians at the Enns River in Austria, March 29, 1945. Ten 761st tanks were part of the honor guard when the German forces surrendered. The 761st fought mainly in platoon or company sized elements attached to various infantry regiments or divisions. Piecemeal employment was not unusual for separate tank battalions. It was attached at various times to the 26th, 71st, and 87th Infantry Divisions, the 17th Airborne Division and the 17th Armored Group. The battalion was committed with the 345th lnfantry around Bastogne and had successful operations at such places as Bonerue, Recogne, and Tillet. During operations in the Ardennes, when trucks could not reach elements of the unit, the light tanks of Company D towed ammunition trailers from ammunition dumps to supply the medium tanks. The 761st motto, "Come Out Fighting," exemplified the spirit and the attitude of Blacks in World War II. It was an opportunity to show what Black soldiers could do. ... show more

  • 9.5/10
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
I really don’t know where all of the hate for this game comes from. I’ve played all of the Call of Duty games and this is honestly in my top three. Yes, you will need internet, even for the single player campaign, which is advertised on the box and in the product specs. But once you look past that, this game is incredible. The campaign is honestly one of the most engaging, riveting, seemingly realistic, and unique campaigns I’ve ever played. There is a perfect mixture of fast-paced action, espionage and stealth, and unique tasks. The multiplayer is good, but the maps could have used a little more work. I spend many hours on this game, and it’s a steal for $33 if you enjoy FPS. ... show more

I bought a ps5 with a bluray so I wouldn't have to use internet service everytime I play a video game. The first thing this game says is you can't play without an update from the playstation store WTF! It should say that on the front of the box! Warning ⚠️ you can't play this game without the internet! I wanna frag people like our grandpas did but now I have to setup a wifi Hotspot over cell phone or some crap😣. The game is probably great everybody loves call of duty I like the cold War version alot, that's why I bought this. Is it so hard to imagine an old man who wants to play this game offline? Why didn't they put the update on the disk? What if yer just too broke to have home internet lately? ... show more

  • Feels like a PS2 game.
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
I have been playing Call of Duty games since COD4 on the PS3. I played World at War, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops 1, Modern Warfare 3, and finally quit after Ghosts. It just seemed the franchise was sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss with every release and I really disliked the direction the series was going. I liked the Call of Duty franchise because they usually had a certain degree of historical context, which was completely eroded away by the cheesy fantasy futuristic gameplay in recent titles. When I first heard Call of Duty would go back to WWII I was very excited. I was skeptical that it would be as good or better than World at War since Treyarch would not be involved but nonetheless I was content as it was a step in the right direction to bring this franchise back to its former glory. Ironically, this is the most cartoonish Call of Duty title I have ever played and that is not a compliment. Apart from the main menu, which was well done, the game overall seems to lack the serious tone and atmosphere that World at War had. The graphics are colorful, but look like a PS2 title that was remastered for the PS4. Is this franchise now targeted for kids? If so, why the M rating? Or was this done on purpose to create a more "nostalgic" feel for those who played the original Call of Duty titles on the PS1? Either way, it makes no sense to me and in my opinion a wasted opportunity. The main campaign is mediocre and rife with historical inaccuracies. For example, on the very first level during D-DAY you will encounter German soldiers equipped with the PPSh-41 submachine gun. For those who do not know, that weapon was used by the Red Army on the Eastern Front. I'm sorry, but I do not believe in the "but..but..it's just a videogame" argument. With that logic, you might as well replace the Bazookas with RPGs and replace the P-51 Mustang with a F-22 Raptor. Who cares? It is just a videogame, right? Wrong. If you are going to base your story on the deadliest conflict in history at least do your homework and get your facts straight. Either the developers are completely ignorant or simply do not care for attention to detail. Either explanation is equally disturbing. For those who do not care about single player campaigns and expect multiplayer to be any better you will be disappointed as well. There are currently only 9 maps and they are very small. The hit detection in this game is horrible even with good accuracy, yet it always seems you die after only 2 or 3 shots. There is not a lot of weapon variety within their respective categories (more than likely done on purpose for future DLCs) and the few that are there sound the same. Unlike World at War, there are no tanks to maneuver and no more victory songs for your respective faction after winning a match. I will admit the scorestreaks are cool but that's about it. Nazi zombies mode is still fun and I honestly have nothing to complain about that. This game is so dull, so boring, I just have the strange feeling it was rushed or was developed at the last minute. I do not understand how there are so many reviewers who keep stating this game took COD "back to its roots." Um, no. Simply going back to a WW2 setting is not going back to its roots. I wanted a similar, if not superior gameplay to what we experienced when the franchise was in its prime (COD4-World at War era) with next-generation console graphics. Instead we got a childish version of WW2 with numerous historical inaccuracies and the graphics of a PS2 title. I feel like a sucker for pre-ordering but I learned my lesson. Only reason I am giving it 3 stars is for the wise decision, although poorly executed, to go back to WW2. If you insist on buying it, I strongly recommend you wait for a price drop. ... show more
