View larger Best in class multiplayer action. View larger Pointstreaks and Strike PackagesKillstreaks, benefits and abilities awarded for stringing together multiple kills, have been transformed into Pointstreaks, creating a system that rewards players both for landing kills and completing objectives. These rewards have been broken up into three different categories, known as Strike Packages:Assault - Pointstreaks within this package chain together and deal direct damage. It includes classics like the Predator Missile and Attack Helicopter. Your streak resets on death.Support - Pointstreaks within this package do not chain, focusing instead on surveillance and disruption. Your streak does not reset on death meaning they will respawn with you. Specialist - Pointstreaks within this package are designed for advanced players. Rewards come in the form of additional perks for optimal performance. These perks last until death.Weapon ProficienciesJust like your player, weapons now rank up, unlocking additional attachments, reticules, camos and the new proficiency category. Weapon Proficiencies not only allow you to get better with weapons, they also allow you customize your weapons with helpful attributes such as "Kick" for reduced recoil, "Impact" for deeper penetration through hard surfaces and much more. Many proficiencies are specific to their weapons class. And all are geared towards enhancing a certain play style and can allow for efficient use of your favorite weapons in maps and game modes in which they might not otherwise be the best choice.ModesAlong with the return of the fan favorites Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 introduces several new game modes. Collect dog tags from killed players, including those on your squad while you prevent the opposing squad from taking yours in Kill Confirmed mode. In Team Defender mode, grab the flag and protect the flag carrier for as long as you can to increase your team's score.2-player Co-op Special Ops Survival ModeSpecial Ops cooperative action returns with a bevy of additions, including 16 new objective-based missions and the all-new Survival Mode. Team up online, locally, or play solo and face endless waves of attacking enemies throughout every multiplayer map. Purchase and customize your weapons, air support, equipment and abilities to stand up against increasingly difficult forces and land a spot on the leaderboards. Earn experience and rank up with the newly implemented progression system. The higher the rank, the more weapons, air support, and gear armories you will have available to customize so you can change your tactics on the fly. In addition to the action packed battle for freedom, the cooperative Survival Mode also serves as an effective training tool for competitive multiplayer action. Additional Screenshots

  • Slick, polished, tons of fun.

There's little left to say about the Call Of Duty series, other than to say if you haven't tried it you've missed out on one of the most polished, technically perfect, and most importantly FUN franchises out there. As a VERY long time computer user (Applenet, anyone?) and avid gamer (Lord British got me started on an Apple][) I'm amazed at how polished and detailed this game is. It's often hard to believe I'm not watching a movie, the AI are so life-like. Sure, they're not perfect fighters and often do stupid things, but in this game they do "humanly" stupid things... and they run away, and stumble, and fall down, and make mistakes just like I do. I will point out that there are issues with Steam, the distribution network/online connection the game requires, but there's plenty of Steam help out there if you run into issues. So if shooters are your thing, and especially if you have a buddy or two into them, jump in and join the fun! ... show more

  • Better than cod4? Not exactly. Better than other titles after cod4? Definitley
Platform For Display: PC Download
I don't write many reviews; heck this is probably my only one I've ever written on amazon. So I am going to keep this clear and easy for the people who are interested in buying it. My review is short and to the point. Run down of CoD history: I have been playing cod since the first one released on PC and I have played cod4 competitivley since its release; thouroughly enjoyed it and still do. The titles after that never lived up to my expectations of jumping into a world with overly designed levels. This game may go back in time as far as simple design, but isn't that what many of us enjoy? Although some stuff may be annoying in this game such as the chickens or flying debris; and mid game music; which I'm sure once mod tools is released can be taken care of. In Comparison to CoD4, it's scope-like feel is awfully similar and the registration is way better than the last 3 cod titles. If you enjoyed cod4 and still do; I would highly recommend picking this up for your collection. Not to mention the spec ops mode is amazing if you have a friend to play with. ... show more

  • Good game. Too bad the multiplayer is awful.
Platform For Display: PC Download
Note: this review only covers the multiplayer aspect of MW3 MW3 is exactly what you would expect from a "Call of Duty" game: a lot of mindless running and gunning. There's nothing wrong with that if you enjoy it, which I do. There's also a lot of guns to choose from, it's fun to try them all out with different perks and killstreak combinations, and the online maps are fun to play on. But the main reason I bought this game was because I thought that the online community was active and there was plenty of servers to play on. Boy, was I wrong. There's less than 2000 people online at any given time. You might be thinking, "2000 people is still a lot of people, what is this guy complaining about?" The problem here is that the vast majority (1600+ people on average) are playing in the "Team Deathmatch" game mode. This means that the ONLY game mode you will be playing online is team deathmatch. It's impossible to find a public game of Search and Destroy and Domination because there are literally only a handful of people in these game modes. I can't even manage to get connected to another game mode without waiting 10 minutes before quitting in frustration. This severely cripples the online aspect of this game. Another problem with the lack of an online community is that you continually run into the same people over and over. Since I am forced to play only TDM, I play with the same rotating group of about 50 people. I can tell right from the start of the game which team will win based on my past experiences with these people. This is very boring and too predictable. There's also a lot of lag on this game. I can't connect to a lobby with less than 100 ping on average and I know my connection isn't the problem. I regularly play CoD: World at War, Black Ops 2, CS:GO, and BF2 with pings anywhere from 25-60. I guess that's what you get for forcing people into lobbies. Pros: -Occasionally entertaining Cons: -You're forced into only playing team deathmatch online -Not many people online -Lag Final note: What a waste of $20. I'd recommend that you save your money and buy another FPS like CS:GO or any Battlefield. ... show more

  • Steam activation is not at all a pleasant experience
Platform For Display: PC
Purchased this game a while back but just now got a chance to try and load/play. I'd like to say I've played the game and it is wonderful; but the reality is that I'm still waiting 24 hours later for Steam to "allow" me to play the game (Steam now says the game will be ready to start in 3 hrs 45 minutes). It may be that the game is great; but it's not likely that I'll find out anytime soon; as my computer is still exchanging data with Steam and the game can't be played until that is all complete. Tying any game to Steam activation is a tragedy; and only serves to ruin the gaming experience for good-faith purchasers. If you have a very fast internet connection the installation and startup experience may not be quite as painful; but honestly I cannot recommend any game that requires Steam activation (or it's EA competitor Origin activation). You are at the mercy of Steam, it's snail-like servers and whatever their load happens to be at any particular time, and your internet connection. If you are purchasing this game thinking you can play anytime you want, think again, you'll likely be sadly disappointed. Well, after the better part of 4 nights trying to get this POS to work on Steam I am giving up and tossing it into the trash; too late to get my money back from Amazon. Do not waste your money on this game; the hassle of dealing with Steam is simply not worth any pleasure you might get from the game. I'm extremely disappointed not only with Activision and Valve/Steam; but also with Amazon for selling me this steaming pile without warning me up front about the Steam hassle. I wish I could give this thing a negative star. ... show more
