  • Classic Call of Duty Multiplayer = Loads of fun!
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
When I first booted the game and went straight into multiplayer I was extremely disappointed by the graphics. Stupid me didn't bother to check the game settings before playing. After that 1st game I went into the video settings and turned the picture quality to "extra" high, then adjusted the resolution to match the 42 inch TV I have my PC hooked up to. Went into the next game and WOW! Very good picture quality! As far as gameplay goes, it is classic Call of Duty. The kill streak rewards are perfectly balanced, helping the player who earned them, but not making that 1 person so dominant that they spoil the game for everyone else. I like the unlocks too. You earn points which can be spent on whatever gun you want, so you don't have to play with crappy guns for 50 levels while you wait until you can unlock the gun you want to play with. Overall I am very pleased with the great picture quality and the amazingly fun multiplayer gaming of Call of Duty Ghosts. ... show more

  • Worth 8 Bucks
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
I'll probably get a lot of hate for this, but I actually like this game...for the price. As such, I will split my review into a Pros vs Cons list. Pros: - The game is only eight bucks for pc. This alone should be enough for just the single player campaign alone. - The campaign is actually pretty good. While cheesy and cliche at multiple moments, the story had an interesting alternate history/future that was interesting to play through. There were also a variety in the gameplay during the missions. Some missions were underwater while others were in space. - Bots! I actually found this a pretty useful feature in the modern Call of Duty's as they enable you to practice by yourself without having to find players online. Cons: - The multiplayer added a ridiculously annoying system of leveling up and unlocking weapons and attachments. - There is a maximum of 700 people playing online on PC... and they're all playing TDM. - Quickscoping is difficult (sort of), you have to dragscope most of the time (this may be a pro for some of you). - Multiplayer maps are designed poorly; they are often far too large and complicated to find your enemies. - Following the last point, the huge maps encourage camping. There is no map like Rust on MW2 to encourage actual combat. - Lag spikes; I have a pretty good computer that runs the game on high settings at 50-60 fps. However, at times, there will be a 5-10 second freeze in which your player cannot move or do anything. This just makes you a sitting duck for other players. - Weapon choices don't seem quite balanced. Is CoD:Ghosts worth 60 bucks? Hell no. Is it worth 8? Hell yes. ... show more

  • Ghosts Leaves You Kind of Empty
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
I started playing CoD from the beginning with very first WWII developed by Infinity Ward. It was fun, the action was continuous and the graphics were decent. That was back in 2002. Fast forward to Ghost. First, the story is ridiculous. Like Black Ops, it's convoluted and contrived. If Ghosts are so super elite why do they fight in much the same way as all CoD shooters? Why not more opportunities for stealth kill? Basically, you go from scenario to scenario shooting. Second, there is no real directions. There is too much graphic layering to intuitively figure out where you are suppose to go. If I lost site of the rest of the team, I had no idea where I was suppose to go so I ended up roaming around. Way markers, or some kind of direction arrows like in previous games that let you know where the friendlies are would have been helpful. The missions seemed to go on and on and on without any real change up in the action. Sure, a couple of missions you get to be the dog, then on one or two you get to do cool things like scale a building or fire on a space station, but the action is redundant and very boring. I like Infinity Ward, but this is not a fun FPS shooter at all. I give it one star. I didn't have any problems with the graphics, ran fine on the highest setting except for one scene where the water reflection washed everything out. Pass on this one for $60.00. ... show more

  • A good collection of FPS fun. Better with friends.
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
If you are keen on a specific type of gameplay, even 12-20 player infantry-focused competitve FPS, I am not sure Ghosts is the best choice. It is, however, a well-rounded package for the casual FPS player. There are four main game modes; their specific details can be found on Wikia and elsewhere, so I'll only share my impressions. Campaign: mediocre It's also short, only around 5 hours on Regular difficulty. Ironically this works to the game's favor because it doesn't drag. When I think of Black Ops, I think of "Step One...!" When I think of CoD 4, I think of Prypiat and "Crew Expendable." There is no Reznov or Price in Ghosts. It's just a group of forgettable characters on a conventional military quest against a bad guy I fought pathetic. Even the few references to other media aren't done that well. On the other hand, in that short 5 hours, you get to play missions from under the sea to outside the atmosphere. You get to drive a tank like a bumper car and pilot a chopper like an arcade game. Most missions feel like deja vu if you've played MW or Black Ops before, and the few novel ones don't stand out. If the campaign were 10 hour and I had to play each type of mission twice as much, I'd probably complain. Fortunately, the 5 hours are a rush, even if a forgettable one. Actually I do have one complaint about the campaign. The mission briefings are narrated like a story. Terrible choice for a video game, where if something is not experienced, it should at least be like a movie. Then again, all that has been done by other CoD games. Multiplayer: I think it stays true to CoD, but I know little about that. Unlockable weapons/equipment, perks, kill streaks, operations (challenges) are all present. There are plenty of better reviews on how the multiplayer stack up against other CoD and non-CoD games. For a casual gamer new to CoD, the best I can say is that CoD multiplayer is kinda like CS, but fancier. For the same casual players, Private Match is a godsend. You can set up a Private Match to play with friends (or just by yourself); you have instant access to all weapons/perks/kill streaks/maps/most if not all game modes + full bot support. If you don't care to go through persistent growth experience, Ghosts remains perfectly playable. The only downside is you can't just open your game for any stranger to find and join. Squads: The opposite of Private Match If you instead want to experience the persistent growth of competitive multiplayer without the actual competition, Squads mode is for you. Here is a collection of 4 game modes focused on AI, co-op, and 1-on-1 competition. The popular Survival mode from MW3 makes a return, with 4 instead of 2 max players now. There is, however, no objective based Spec Ops missions. Unlike Private Match, Squads mode has match making to help you join up with strangers. Squads is the opposite of Multiplayer and is made possible by the game's AI, which is better than any other AI of this type that I've seen. Extinction: Ah, I actually don't like it that much. It's the equivalent of Zombies from Black Ops with aliens instead. I can't think of another analogy so just go watch a gameplay video. My problem with Extinction is that it's both short and objective based, thus reducing its replayability compared to other co-op modes in Ghosts. You have a separate progression track specific to this mode, and you can always try different play styles. But for me, if I can complete the mission with one setup, I don't see why i should bother with another. I also find the aliens lame compared to zombies. That's just me; many critics like this mode. Performance: There is no shortage of complaints against Ghosts' performance on the PC, especially for multiplayer. They are legit. In its defense though, I am able to play Ghosts on a system below its minimum requirement (Core Duo Quad 3.0, 4GB RAM, HD 4770 1GB) pretty smoothly. In single player, I could set most video options to normal, with a few high and few low and still play at a decent frame rate most of the time (below 60 for sure but I haven't checked fps). With most settings tuned to low, I can also play co-op and Extinction with the only serious slowdowns occuring at the beginning of a match and, surprisingly, at the menu screen both post-match and each time I start Ghost Multiplayer. If you have a good system, Ghost may not live up to your expectations, but if you have a crappy one, you may still be able to play, at least non-competitively. Bottomline: Ghosts is like one of the starter weapons in its multiplayer. It has a good collection of decent game modes. If you want a FPS with variety that you can enjoy casually, Ghosts is for you; it's perhaps better at this than any other FPS game out there. If you are a conniseur, every one of those modes may fall short. If you are a conniseur, this review isn't for you. If someday you evolve from casual to a specific taste, you can always get a more appropriate game. ... show more

  • Way better than the last ones.
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
Some people say they don't like it. Some say it is not revolutionary or genre changing. Look anytime you give me a great FPS then give me an underwater level with sharks and then I go to space too....I am in, it was way better, plays better, now if they could just get rid of those spamming cheating punks online they would keep a base audience but I am sure they are not too worried. The best of the series in my opinion. The dog is great as well I just wish I could name him with my own name choice, then he would be stay the dog. Come here stay, then you find out if the game has a sense of humor. Awesome game for real, like FPS play it on single player. Like spamming punks who cheat? Brave the multiplayer. For multiplayer I choose another alternative, but for having fun by myself this is the game. ... show more

  • Great Game!
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
People these days just don't give credit to the CoD series where it's due. This game is just awesome. Great graphics, great detail, terrain, lighting, shadows, edges... Overall phenomenal graphics. The physics engine is great too, although just shy of BF4 because the physics does not particularly affect the player and more so the surroundings.. The game play is fluid, addicting, and exciting. The story and plot for campaign is again, engaging and simply fun. There are no boring transitions or moments in a firefight, and it's simple to understand how to prevail in a circumstance. The scenarios and checkpoints feature a ton of theatrics, explosions, firefights and utilize your hardware without overburdening it. The controls are minimalistic and do not require an excess of buttons. All-in-all, CoD is a great game, just like BF4. 5/5. • Great SP action
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
Great SP action. Friends can "drop-in" without your invite, but they ARE friends after all. All kinds of adjustments in game--time/ bot count and their skill level/ maps/match types, guns mods--realistic action that you dial-in to your liking. The MP starts you out with pitiful chances, and poor weapons, but you gotta play for a long time to get any rank or $$ to buy better guns/loadouts. The guys with lotsa rank are NOT necessarily better, but they ALWAYS have magic weapons, and you often don't see how they got you--even after killcam shows you. They have armor piercing bullets and see-thru scopes and such, not to mention all manner of aerial attacks and bombs/etc. Some ppl cheat by knifing you at like 15 ft away, but Steam will likely end them forever someday. Got it on Amazon for 1/3 what Steam wanted for it! Thanks Amazon! ... show more

  • What can I say. Very Very poor.
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
I was so looking forward to this game. It is frankly unplayable and even worse since the update. I have a very fast system, everything else I can run at full tilt and no issues. The game stutters, lags, I cannot use a scope because the game locks up when I do. Lag compensation is out of control and the spawn system is just broken. The graphics, when they work correctly, are 2005, not anywhere near cutting edge. The game will tax the best systems and you get nothing in return. IW. Suspiciously silent. Still advertising that this is the best game since sliced bread. Money grabbers. IW released a so called PC major update that made things much worse. Hackers are everywhere, laughing at you, putting there videos on you tube and nothing is being done about it. Over 82 fixes in the PC update and is worse than before. What were the beta testers playing ! Obviously Battlefield 4. Don't waste your money, it's now hard to find a game since everyone has given up on it. The way this company works, they will probably release a fix in 3 months and charge us for it ! ... show more
