  • This is the best CoD since Black Ops 2
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
I've only been playing CoD since Black Ops 2, so I've only played Black Ops 2, Ghosts and Advanced Warfare thoroughly but I have dabbled in past CoD's. My perception is not limited by nostalgic expectations. This is the best CoD since Black Ops 2, and from what little experience I have with MW2, MW3, and Black Ops 1 and World at War, likely the best CoD to date. The old games were fine for their time but pale in comparison to Black Ops 3. Nostalgic fans who are resistant to change will be disappointed at another evolution in mechanics and theme, so if you are one of the vets hoping for some classic CoD, this is not for you and CoD may never be again (save remasters like the upcoming MW1 remaster). However if you are a versatile FPS fan looking for a faster pace, more fun and truly next gen reinvention of CoD, then this is a perfect game. New mechanics to switch up the gameplay and give you much more maneuverability as well as actual different characters with different abilities, making the game way more exciting and competitive than past CoD's ( moreso than Advanced Warfare, as much as the old heads will hate that I said that AW is the closes in competitiveness). The game's campaign is honestly not that great but few people play CoD for campaign these days. The campaign is online MP and has a progression system and calling cards so if you do like campaign then you will be glad for this, and hopefully this will transfer to future CoD's. Once you beat campaign there is another zombies campaign, Nightmare Mode (might be available from the beginning now) and while the campaign is pretty much the same levels with zombies, it's still a second option and was a neat idea.. personally hoping Treyarch will do better with that in the future. Multi Player is solid. Wall running, thrust jumping, sprint reloading and shooting, specialist weapons and abilities, cool outfit customization options... if you are an FPS fan and aren't polluted by negativity then you will love this. They also have a Dark Matter camo which you get for getting diamond for all weapons. Also, Zombies is pretty good. I haven't played it like I did Black Ops 2 but I have completed everything aside from trophies and easter eggs. Zombies now has calling cards and weapons you unlock and can level up, which are leveled up as soon as you get them from the wall or box. You customize upgraded guns with your choice of attachments. There are some cool reticles and camos for zombies too. I was hoping for better progression in zombies but it is definitely an improvement compared to nothing. Hoping for more updates with future DLC, like Extinction had when the armory came out. Zombies also has gobblegum as well, which are basically perks that are too good to last until you get downed, so they are single use or last for short durations. Gobblegum options unlock as you level up and playing also gets you vials that you can use to gamble for mega gobblegum, hwich are way better than the standard gobblegum. DLC comes with more gobblegum and there are some really good ones in DLC 2, still waiting on DLC 3 and 4. There is also free run mode which is a timed trial to get through an obstacle course, and there is Dead Ops Arcade 2. Both of these aren't that great in my opinion, but still add to make up a large amount of content in this game. There are definitely improvements I want to see in the next Treyarch game, but that's to be expected with so many new ideas packed into a single game. This is definitely an improvement upon the five star Black Ops 2 ... show more

  • Ladies and gentlemen, black ops is back and better than ever!!!
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
Ladies and gentlemen, i present to you, the game that we have all been waiting for... Since the original black ops i feel like the series was on a downward spiral, however i grew up with COD and purchased the games each year out of nostalgia and hope, and finally this came! Honestly, i think this is my favorite COD game next to World At War, its a toss up. The game feels like blacks ops, looks amazing and just plays great. The only downsides to this game in my opinion are: Gun Game is back to larger maps, i wish they would have scaled map sizes down like they originally did in wager matches, also this is the only game mode of that type. You cannot knife which is fine considering that knifing has pretty much been eliminated from this game, however the fact that the final kill has to be with your fists hitting someone twice is just ridiculous to me and the game has become more of a crap shoot rather than skill Rejack NEEDS to go!!! Its nothing more than another final stand. Once someone with it dies you have two choices #1 keep shooting their body incase they use their Rejack and waste an entire clip or two of ammo #2 hope that they don't come back and kill you Other than that, i have no complaints, i was worried about the addition of specials but they actually fit in very nicely and are not insanely overpowered. All in all, fantastic game and COD lives once again! ... show more

  • Incredible Single and Multiplayer
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
FANTASTIC. I have played every Call of Duty game since the beginning and this year's version is just incredible. Single Player mode has an amazing story with several twists (more if you pay more attention) and Multiplayer is about the best CoD so far for me, although Black Ops 2 comes in a close second. Visuals and gameplay dynamics have been stunning to say the least. For reference, I am playing this on a 60" LED TV and a PS4 with a soundbar and dedicated subwoofer. I did not purchase any additional content, as I believe everything you need should come with the game. There are some "freemium" aspects to it in the black market, but I think they balance it out by still allowing you to purchase these items through contracts or by getting achievements. I've never been much for zombies, but from my limited experience with it and reviews I've read on it, this also seems to be great quality. Overall, a top notch game and one of the best in the franchise, in my opinion. ... show more

  • Undisputed - Game Of the year
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
so far, I had a chance to play an hour of campaign and the rest couple of hours I tried the Multi Player Campaign : Decent story plot so far (watch out for the last scene on the first mission), very well designed characters and a brief intro about them. The game play is smooth, shows us around with the new movement controls. You can also create your own class for each of the mission that you enter. with the weapons that most suit you, more like a pre lobby. Pretty much like a test to feel the movement of the game and the controls. Multi player : this is what Call of duty is all about, and they have not failed us this time. The lobby's were empty as I got an early copy (couple of hours).Could only play couple of decent games. Should look out to see if my game play is on any YouTube videos, coz there were few famous you tubers in there. The game play is smooth. The abilities like wall run and under water abilities where beautifully designed. The transition from on foot combat to these abilities where very smooth. Pros: The footsteps were more louder and clearer to spot the enemies, unlike in AW. I didn't have to empty a whole mag to take down an enemy, Couple of good shots were good enough. No annoying exo jumps, which means snipers can have a big role in all the games. Bo3 lets player choose different class of players with unique abilities. This is a bonus I would say to the already added movement system. Cons: (Will update, if found any) This game would definitely bring back a lot of players from old gen consoles, which AW couldn't If you are into multi player, then this is the game for you, else watch a few campaign game plays on YouTube and decide (I am not sure how long the campaign is). I am a huge fan of COD, and they have not failed to impress me this time. ... show more

  • Best CoD yet
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
This game is everything it promised and more. There is so much content here that it could have literally been split into three games. The campaign is great, though a little far-fetched at times. Zombies is even more awesome than you think it is. Multiplayer is as good as it has always been with CoD. I have to say that the addition of different character classes has really made for a fun new twist. The typical people who are already pro at CoD will still be dominating the maps, but the special abilities of the characters definitely gives you a much better edge. The mobility is also very exciting, and the maps really do well to take advantage of the mobility system. Overall I highly recommend this game. I almost decided not to purchase it (I was going to get Battlefront) but I am VERY glad that I did. Very very very fun. ... show more

  • Could have been more
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
This is not a good game. The campaign was so boring I couldn't even bother finishing it. But most of you only care about online. So why is it so bad? Well there is an unbelievable amount of hit detection issues. The kinds where you'll pump a guy point blank with 20 rounds (literally an entire clip in some instances) and you can see blood splatter...but no hit markers, and no dead player. However two shots from them and you're dead. Yet the kill cam shows something far different than what you saw. And the camping....the levels are pretty damn big some of them, and everyone just seems to camp. Especially snipers and shot gunners. Giving you no chance really. I have been playing first person shooters for years. Everything from Call of Duty, to Battlefield, to Halo. And I have never done as bad as I have in this game. Ever. I have only had one...literally one match where I went positive. There's no regional match match making so I often get stuck with people who have very poor Internet. The result is I get 2 kills...and about 20 deaths on average simply due to hitmarkers not registering. I even get delayed kills. When I shoot a guy full of lead, and get mowed down by him. Then soon as I Spawn the hitmarkers start randomly popping up on my screen along with points for a kill. Kind of like Battlefield 4 was at launch. On top of that, there is no option to search for specific maps to play on. I have played about 30 matches now. I have the season pass (really wish I didn't buy it cause I would get rid of this game if I hadn't but it's the last call of duty I will ever buy and it's really so me and my buddies can play) and I have yet to play anything.. ANYTHING outside of nuketown and 4 other maps. I always get popped into the same maps. On top of that, you can Spawn, promptly get killed, Spawn again..AND GET KILLED BY THW SAME GUY AS SOON AS YOU SPAWN. But it doesn't end their. As if twice wasn't enough, I have had it happen as many as four times in a row. You can Spawn right in the middle of the map just to get sniped as soon as you Spawn. I have even spawned in front of one of the enemy ground drones....I lasted less than four seconds. And this happens in every...single...match. I have never gotten so mad at a game before. Not even that I'm losing... Just that it's basically unplayable. Now I wasn't sure if it was just me experiencing these things so I did some research..... There are forums FULL of these same complaints. And no word from the developers on if or when they may be patched. Now my biggest issue isn't really any of what I previously explained. My biggest issue is not only does this game not work (zombies is terrific, a lot of fun, and the offline modes are mostly error free except the A.I. Is horrible. You can run around a map with a full enemy A.I. team just to find them all standing in a corner. That happens a lot. Fun fact though...the A.I. Won't just sit there.....they tbag. It's kind if funny sometimes) but now you basically HAVE to play online of you want to unlock all the weapons which you get by spending crypto keys in the black market. To put this in perspective... I spent ten bucks on I think 1000 cod points, got all rare supply drops....all I got was taunts and paint schemes.... I have also spent about 90 hours playing this and I eventually unlocked a weapon...a crossbow. Without these crypto keys that you can either play about... 15 matches to get thirty of them for a rare drop which is immensely time consuming, and HOPE you get something (most don't and you do get duplicates of stuff. Each drop only unlocks three things at a time and many items you can only equip at certain ranks, making them pretty useless if you're a level 20 like me. Btw leveling up takes FOREVER. It's painfully long.) or you can drop stupid amounts of money to buy them and often still end up with nothing you want. Some of these weapons are pretty damn powerful especially the shotgun. So it's essentially become a pay to win game. Or pay to access content already built into the game is a better description. You can't access the majority of this stuff offline by the way. Those weapons that are supply drop locked you can not use offline without first buying them. Along with the all the melee weapons (aside from the starter knife) and most of the camos and character costume parts. Seriously just avoid this game. Please. I really wish I didn't buy it. It could be really really fun but it was just executed poorly and with maximum profits in mind instead of the fans and gamers themselves. Keep in mind this is really the ONLY reliable franchise that Activision has right now so I suppose it was just a matter of time. If not for the pay to unlock system and how poorly the game functions online, this would be a great game. Not original, not even a little, but at least fun. I honestly feel ashamed to call myself a gamer when people sit there and defend the decisions these companies make. Gaming is taking a turn for the worst, what with pay to win/unlock /and online only crap. So please...I get being a fan but don't let them keep doing this stuff. Go on the forums. Go to their twitter. Let them know you deserve more. ... show more

  • Good first-person shooter game, full of action fighting and nice graphics
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
I like the campaign in this game. It has beautiful graphics and is action packed with tons of shooting. Three missions that I completed so far were quite interesting. The weapons system is good because I can choose a few favorite weapons and use them to complete missions in my favorite style. I like the abundance of ammo so I can run around and shoot as much as I want at tens of enemies. It is the third COD I am playing after World At War and Modern Warfare 4, so it is a bit unusual to see the sci-fi story in COD. Nevertheless, I like the sci-fi weapons, fighting, enemies, and missions. I bought this game to play a quality first-person shooter. That's exactly what I like about Black Ops 3 - a good FPS game, full of action fighting and nice graphics and design. ... show more
