Lovely, beautiful, as detailed and high quality as we've come to expect from Calico Critters and an EXCELLENT value for the price (most other CC sets are much pricier... so this is how they hook you LOL!). I'll compare this to the other Cozy Cottage which looks very similar. In my side-by-side images, this new version is on the left and other version on the right. Comparison PROS: New one has mailbox, beautiful curved railings, an interactive stove ("water" comes out of faucet, and a pie "bakes" in the oven by flipping over when inserted), it comes with a few extra accessories, and has a more practical ladder. Comparison CONS: Windows on the new one are plain, without shutters (there are SUPER cool interactive windows on the older one); the furniture in the new one is thinner, cheaper-looking, less detailed, & a bit too "pinkish" compared to the older one (and bed has no mattress/pillow). I don't like the fork with the handle in the new one, but kids may enjoy that feature. NEUTRAL differences: New one has red walls on second floor compared to beige; door styles are different; color of the brown trim/railings/doors is slightly lighter on new house Both houses have the exact same Freya Chocolate bunny sister with identical outfits, and the base mold for both nearly identical. Both are VERY durable, excellent quality, and will last forever. Obviously I have both houses, and I like the subtle differences, so we can have both in our display. I like that all the Red Roof themed homes are inter-connectible and match each other. Personally I think both houses are equally wonderful, and the downgrades on the new house are outweighed by its upgrades (the mailbox and railings, specifically). ... show more

This is adorable! It comes with the house, some furniture, and the bunny. Everything is great quality and sturdy. It’s lovely for kids to play with, or for adults to display, or decorate. It makes a great addition to any miniature set.

We already had the Cozy Cottage Starter House, but since this Red Roof Cozy Cottage stacks with the Red Roof Country Home, we decided to get this too. It is a cute little house. I like the addition of shutters and a little almost balcony on the top floor. The stairs, though very simple, are also a step up (no pun intended) from the rung ladder included with the old version. It also has side doors on both the top and bottom floors,with a removable railing for the top. That makes it connect to the rooms in the bigger house. The upper level floor is removable. Unlike the old version, it doesn't flip over to a grassy surface. But that is because it has a place for a (not included) light to be installed. So I guess there is a pro and con there. The furniture and figure that comes with each is identical, which is unfortunate. It would be nice if they had changed it up. The houses are different colors. The old version matches the Red Roof Townhouse better while this goes with the Cozy Cottage and Sweet Raspberry Home. But they are all close enough that they look good together. This size house is good if you are just getting started with Calico Critters and don't want to invest a lot of money. You can find out if your kids will actually enjoy these toys first. It won't hold much in the way of extra furniture, so don't bother spending money on those of this is the only house you are getting. But we highly recommend this house and all the Calico Critters toys. ... show more

This set is such a great starter set! Comes with a figure and quite a bit of furniture to get started with calico critters! My one big complaint is that the chair legs break off so easily. I reached out to the company and they basically just told me they don’t have replacement parts and to buy a new set. What?? I wasn’t asking for free replacement parts or anything. I would be happy to purchase new chairs for a few dollars, but obviously I don’t want an entire new house! So that’s several thumbs down for the company. I tried gluing them but they keep coming off. So just be aware of that if you buy this! :) ... show more

I love that this house came with basic furniture and a character, hence the “starter home” comment. It’s hard not to want to immediately add on to the house. I will say, a full family will Have a bit of difficulty living here though. If your kiddos are like mine, bite the bullet and go big on the house. I will say though, the furniture items are really good quality as it the house itself. My daughter was very excited to receive it for her birthday. She and her sister have enjoyed hours of play so far and my little has already dropped hints at “needing” a house her her critters too. ... show more

This delighted my three year old granddaughter. The little accessories are adorably realistic. The oven opens, there is plumbing under the kitchen sink, and a tiny fork that can be "washed" in the sink. It comes with a little girl bunny.
