The net is great. It's small enough collapsed to fit on my Fishing Backpack in one of the rod holders, all I had to do was add velcro to the straps to elongate them to fit around the net. It is in fact compact, it does extend nicely, has a Carbiner to attach net to you so you can't lose it. Net itself is deep preventing fish from flopping out of it. Would not use on a fish larger than 10lbs if possible. I am not sure it'll really hold up to heavy fish like Blue Catfish, big Striped Bass, or monster Pike/Musky. I just recieved my product. It is the non extendable folding landing net. It is 17" while folded and is 31" extended. I'm definitely happy with my choice. It is durable and the flat bottom of the netting is spacious.

This is a well thought out net. It packs away nicely for those long hikes in to your favorite fishing holes and is plenty strong enough for landing those larger fish. I've landed plenty of fish over 10 lbs with this net and it is still holding up great.
