Beautiful but far too heavy for me

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and have several midrange and high end axes. I was not sure about this Cahaya S-style electric guitar, but the specs looked good. There are big names using okuome bodies, the roasted maple neck says stability, and stainless steel frets are always nice. Even if the hardware and electronics were not great, I could swap those parts out easily. I was thoroughly impressed when it arrived. It came strung but not tuned to pitch, so I used the included tuner to bring it up. It played reasonably well out of the box. I made some minor adjustments to the action on the high strings for boomer bends, and that was it. I haven't measured yet but the fretboard radius feels on the modern flatter side vs. a rounder vintage. The neck is very comfortable, and the fretwork is excellent. The tone and resonance is good. I think the pickups are serviceable, and different enough from my other guitars that I don't want to change them out. I think the included mini amp and tuner are fine. I have a bunch of tuners and amps kicking around so I can plug in whenever and where ever, and they serve their purpose. I did immediately replace the tuners with locking ones I had lying around because I do use the trem a lot and need the stability. If I did anything else , and that's a big if, I would replace the vintage style six-screw trem with something like a VegaTrem kit or that drop-in replacement made by Floyd Rose to upgrade while still using the existing holes.

I bought this 39” electric guitar kit for myself as a beginner, and I couldn’t be happier with it! The quality is way better than I expected for the price. The roasted maple neck feels super smooth and comfortable to play, and the solid okoume body gives it a nice, rich tone that sounds great through the included amp. The HSS pickup setup is perfect for versatility — I can easily switch from warm, clean tones to more powerful rock sounds. The amplifier is surprisingly loud and clear for practice sessions, and I love that everything I needed came right in the box: gig bag, strap, cable, extra strings, and picks. It’s literally ready to play right out of the box after a quick tune-up. The finish looks sleek and professional (I got the black one), and it definitely doesn’t feel or look like a cheap beginner guitar. The setup was super easy — no major adjustments needed besides tuning. Ever since my son was 9, he’s been sneaking off with my guitar—clearly the bug bit him early. Now that he’s older, I figured it was time he had his own, and this Donner kit was the perfect choice. The guitar itself looks sharp and plays well for a beginner. It’s not a high-end instrument, but the build quality is solid and the sound is surprisingly good for the price. The included amp, strap, tuner, and accessories make it a complete package—no need to hunt down extras. Setup was easy, and my son was thrilled to plug in and start playing right away. The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is that the amp isn’t super powerful, and the guitar needed a bit of tuning and adjustment out of the box. But for the value and convenience, it’s a fantastic deal. Now my guitar is safe, and my son’s got his own axe to shred on. Win-win.

I’m seriously impressed with this CAHAYA electric guitar set! Right out of the box, it looks and feels awesome. The C-shaped roasted maple neck is super smooth and comfortable — easy to play whether you’re just learning or already know your way around a fretboard. The finish has that nice vintage look, and the tone is clear and bright with great sustain. The H-S-S pickup setup gives you tons of sound options — from clean and crisp to warm and heavy. Switching between tones is easy, and it handles rock, blues, and even jazz without a problem. The rounded fret ends are a nice touch too — no sharp edges, just smooth playability. The kit comes fully loaded — gig bag, amp, strap, cable, extra strings, picks, even a wrench. The portable amp surprised me — it’s small but has good volume, clean and distorted modes, plus a rechargeable battery that actually lasts. Overall, this is a perfect starter kit or even a solid backup setup for more experienced players. Great value, great sound, and everything you need to start jamming right away. Five stars easy! 🎸
