  • Great purchase
I cannot even begin to say how amazing this drum set it is. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but it absolutely is, especially for the price. I got this set for my son for Christmas because he had mentioned an interest in trying drums, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a full drum set until I was sure he would actually play. Just for reference he is 14-years old. When we set everything up, I was immediately impressed by two things: how durable the stand was - it was very sturdy and well-made, and the sound quality was excellent. The stand quality was especially important because you can't really learn to play "real" drums using the included pedals if you have to put the pad on the floor. My son was immediately interested in trying it out but I noticed after a couple days that his interest in it would quickly fade if I didn’t have a way to teach him how to play the drums. So we ended up connecting it with an app on his iPad wirelessly via Bluetooth and the app shows you which drum to play when. When you combine this app with the drum set, you basically have a set up to teach your kid how to play drums that will last for a long time. There are many levels in the app, achievements to unlock, scores to beat all while playing real songs and reading real sheet music. It makes it very gamified and my son has been playing every day. I highly encourage you to get the app (I don't think I can say what the app is in my review so just search on the app store) but even if you don’t, it is a very high-quality drum set. I will probably splurge for the full drum set from the same company next Christmas if my son is still playing drums a year from now. ... show more

  • Great kit! Robust stand and headphone support.
This thing is wild! I ordered this for the kids and I am absolutely delighted that they can play with headphones, saving the rest of the house from the noise. For the price, the quality is surprisingly high; the pads are responsive and the sound options are vast. It comes with everything a budding drummer needs right out of the box, including pedals and sticks. I was also pleased to find that the manual is actually clear and helpful, which is a rarity these days. The included stand is particularly robust; so much so that I might actually steal it for other uses when they aren't playing! The little side tray is a nice touch for holding a phone or the sticks. It is a well-designed, complete kit that feels built to last. Fun to play and a stellar value. I would order this again in a heartbeat. Buy with confidence. ... show more

  • Excellent quality! Best of all that we’ve had & tested. Alas: Does *not* have variable sensitivity.
The high quality of this drum set makes it feel professional. Even the pre-recorded rhythm accompaniments are nicer than other electronic drum kits that we’ve had, used, tested. Response from the pads is outstanding; double-tapping, rolls, paradiddles are all responded to (played back) with excellent response. Neat bonus on this kit is that it’s shipped with little silicone caps that can (optionally) be slipped onto the ends of the included (or our own) drumsticks; guessing to help reduce wear on the drum pads (as any seasoned percussionist will attest can happen over time), or possibly to make drumming a little less ‘taxing’ on the player during practice, which can reduce weariness and maybe extend practice sessions. There are several demo drum riffs that can be played along with in the background. They play on a loop, so practicing with them is easy to initiate and continue for as long as desired. Most loop well; there is at least one that doesn’t quite loop perfectly when it restarts. Slight annoyance, though it seems to be only one of them (and there are others that are more-favored), so will just view it as a hiccup and ignore it. Younger kiddos don’t seem to notice. Best benefit from this drum kit vs others that are available is that it includes a stand . . turning it into more of an actual drum kit / drum set than a table-top accoutrement (though it can operate as both). The assembly instructions for the stand are fairly easy to follow… There are about a dozen steps in putting together the stand. To show how simplified the steps are: Placing the silicone tips onto the ends of the drum sticks is actually step 11. The rest of the assembly is as straightforward as following Lego instructions . . Once familiar with each of the parts, it just fits together. There were a couple of extra screws included in case one or two go wayward when connecting the (very attractive, by the way) base plate, onto which the drum kit’s pad sits, onto the top of the stand. The stand is cool! Stable, sturdy, and very much height-adjustable! We easily adjusted it to make the drum kit the right height and angle whether sitting in a chair to play or standing for a “performance”. Do very much like the drumstick bag and kick pedal staging platform that are built into the stand’s assembly. Ended up keeping the instruction pages, spare screws and tools, the included USB-A to USB-C charging cable and such in the drumstick bag, to keep everything conveniently together and accessible. The only feature that we wish that this kit had was the ability to adjust the output sound based on how hard the practice pads and pedals were struck. It does *not* offer this variable sensitivity detection, which is moderately disappointing, as we’d thought, upon ordering it, that it would have that feature. (Prior to ordering, we had asked the AI Assistant if this kit had this feature. We were told “yes” and ordered it right away, only to find out that it does not, in fact, make any less or more sound based on how hard a pad is struck or a pedal is depressed.) .:.Good sound quality, easy to use. The stand and the pads are impressively sturdy and are the best that we’ve encountered. The Record / Playback feature (where you play along, the drumming is recorded, and can then be played back) is easy to synchronize when timing its playback along with external audio sources (ex: playing a song over Bluetooth into the unit, drumming along with the song, then playing both back afterwards to compare rhythmic timing). Yes, very much worth the investment. This is a quality product. We’re quite glad to have acquired it, and its professional appearance enhances (and does not detract from) any room in which it is placed. We’re surprisingly impressed! ... show more

  • Not worth $99
The instructions weren't great. I had to pry open one of the openings to insert a tube since it wasn't going in there willingly. I do like the little pocket for the drumsticks. It does have a couple options for different sounds, but not many. I didn't think it sounded all that great or realistic, plus every time I turn it on, it resets to the loudest volume. It's adjustable height, so that's good, but overall, I don't think this is anywhere near worth $99 which was the price at the time I got it. I don't know that I would have paid $50. The sound isn't great, and it doesn't represent how real drums are placed if you are sort of wanting to introduce drums to a kid (or adult). ... show more

  • It's a Toy - But, It's Not ...Good Holiday Present for Intro to Drumming
This entire set up is basically a way to make the Rubber Drum Pad feel more like a real drum set. So while you can set up the pad on the tripod, and make it feel like you are sitting behind a kit... Keep in mind that if your kid goes to a friend's house, It's extremely portable - you can just fold up the mat... or, I imagine... if you detached the Wooden Pad support from the Tripod stand.. Once your older child is strapped in the back seat... they could have the drums in their laps and play there. The Tripod/Stand needs to be assembled. This is (should be) simple - but the drawings in the manual are not the best. The angle they chose to display some of the parts, make it a little confusing. One VERY important Note.... The Rubber piece at the base of the Support Bracket DOES line up with the holes on the Tripod - IF you extend the top of the Tripod tube! Even though it's a Child's "Toy" - The Tripod actually reaches to a height over 4feet -when fully extended! This is one of the things that is kinda impressive. The Tripod, and Mounts , and the Wooden Base for the Drum Pad are all Well-Made and Sturdy. The Brains of the Unit is a rectangular box at the top of the Pad, which also serves to keep the pad in place in a very simple, but effective way with two raised pins on the board. The Unit has the standard drums - Bass, Snare, Cymbals....etc - And you can choose from different "Styles" - or drum kit sounds - Acoustic, Electronic, HipHop Pads...etc.. The Unit comes with two electronic wired Foot Pedals - for Bass Drum and HiHat - Open/Close... But thoughtfully, both drums are represented on the Pads - keeping it fully Portable and self-contained. As a Stand-Alone, the sound plays through decently loud Stereo Speakers on each side of the Control Box. You can also connect headphones, or Speakers to the Unit to play even Louder. The Headphones would come in handy in situations like the back of the car scenario. OK - So all that is why it is a fun "Toy" - Nice Inexpensive Gift for Kids.... BUT - It is so much more! Th unit connects via USB-C to Macs and PCs - It also Connects Via Bluetooth. I opened an existing project in Garageband on my iPad Pro and connected to the Cahaya via Bluetooth - and the GB project now played through the Unit's Speakers... and when I lowered the drum sounds on the actual unit - When I hit the drum pads... the sound of the drums in the GB Project sounded instead!... Yes, Bluetooth introduced such a process delay - that it was kinda not practical - BUT... it does show that with an interface, you can likely use this "Toy" as an actual Drum Set/ Trigger - with a Music Program on a Pad, Computer, phone...etc. This may seem unfair - but I am deducting one star - are a toy lacking in a non-toy feature. The pads are NOT touch sensitive... So, no matter how hard or softly you hit the pads - the volume is the same. Yes, you would expect that in a "Toy" that is less than $100 - but, if you are gonna make a unit with Bluetooth MIDI capabilities, you must have intended for usage by musicians - and a drum pad set is REALLY limited in any Real usage - if the Pads are just On-Off 1/0 - and no Sensitivity...then it IS just a toy. Again - For the Money - It's a great little Unit - WAY beyond what it could be for that Price. The Stand is VERY sturdy. Comes with an a bag for sticks and adjustable attached stand that supported my 12" iPad Pro. It can Record and Playback what you play, has Audio In - so you can play along with your own songs... And a whole bunch of other cool features that make this fully portable unit more than being "Just" a toy...This is a pretty feature-heavy 1st Electronic Drum Set for a kid - Unfortunately, with one annoying flaw. ... show more

  • Will keep the kiddos endlessly entertained
The sound quality is pretty good. It can be fairly quiet or go much louder than I'd ever turn it up. Headphones can be plugged in, thank goodness. There is also silicone covers for the drum sticks to help them be a little quieter. It has preset rhythms that can be played along to. You can increase or decrease the speed of them as well. It has a record button so they can playback their jams and listen to how amazing they are. There is also an input jack so if you want to play along to your own music on it you can. There are 2 pedals that plug in, one for a bass drum and one for a hi hat cymbal. It mentions something about Bluetooth but I didn't see the button for it. Maybe it's when it's connected to the computer. I just plan on plugging in headphones to the aux for my nephew. I can't wait to show him what he gets to play with at Auntie's house for Christmas. I do wish it had instructions to set up the stand but I didn't see it in the box. But you can also just put it on a table or on the floor and it will work the same. The stand would be easy enough to figure out the setup from the photos though. I think my nephew is going to be absolutely delighted to pay with this. Honestly when I was trying it out it was a lot of fun and I played with it a lot longer than I expected. It can be easily tucked away without taking up much room and will keep the kiddos occupied for hours. I'll have a rock star in the training in no time. ... show more

  • Awesome beginner drum set
Can I just say how excited I was to receive this package? What a great beginner's drum set. The base is very sturdy that the drum set on, I like the wood grain. The stand seems very sufficient. The coloring is exactly as photoed. It was shipped quickly, arrived quickly. Zero damage. It was a box within a box so expect a pretty good size package. This would make an excellent gift for any beginner musician. Can't wait to put this together! Very pleased with this purchase ... show more
