This is a great product for getting the benefits of both caffeine and l-theanine with a low dose of caffeine (50 mg). Most caffeine products are at least 100 mg and don't offer l-theanine with it. Great for energized, relaxed sense of well-being and productivity.

    • Great Supplement
I had to quit drinking coffee because it upset my stomach and I would get jittery sometimes so I was looking for other means to still get my energy up and came across this. I would only drink about one cup of coffee a day, and the caffeine per serving with these is roughly equivalent to that, but it doesn't give me the jitters, my stomach feels fine, and I actually like it better than coffee because it's more of a "slow release" with the caffeine instead of almost instant like with coffee. The smooth little boost of energy lasts me throughout to morning and into the afternoon and it's just enough so I don't feel tired and also have just a little more pep but not too much to where I'm bouncing off the walls or can't sleep. Would recommend for anyone who is looking to replace their coffee/energy drinks. ... show more

    • Nice energy boost
I am on my 2nd bottle of this energy supplement, and I generally take 3 pills in the AM and then 1 more pill in the later AM. This seems to give me a nice energy boost and I am still able to sleep at night. Also, coffee tends to give me acid reflux but taking these pills gives me less reflux. I still have to take an antiacid pill with this supplement, but it seems to be more tolerable than coffee. Also, I really like how this supplement comes in a 50mg caffeine dose. I looked everywhere for another supplement like this and had a hard time finding one. As for the l theanine, I am not sure if I notice the effect that much vs. taking straight caffeine. It is subtle. Furthermore, I read a study that l theanine as a supplement has only been tested in humans for 8 weeks at a time and its safety is minorly in question. But I am not too worried about this amino acid supplement that might actually be helping me. If you are questioning l theanine then I did find some energy mints with 40mg caffeine each in them, with no l theanine. But I think in general there is no need to worry about regular l theanine usage. Like I said the great thing about this product is that it comes in such a small dose. You can subtly add or subtract caffeine as needed, which you cannot do with many of the other products that come in 200mg+ doses. All and all I am happy with the energy boost this product gives me. I sometimes feel a little queasiness, but this is because I am especially sensitive to caffeine - and it never has really been a problem as long as I don't take too much.     • Good Value, A Bit Sleepy For Me
I would agree with most other reviews, in that the lower dose of caffeine per capsule gives you more control. Hence, this is why I rate this product high. However, I find that the ratio of Caffeine to Theanine is a bit low for me - 50/100. The L-Theanine seems to make me more tired and override the caffeine. But, that is simply how my body reacts. I cannot find a capsule with a lower ratio, so I'm back to simply using the old fashion caffeine tablets you can buy anywhere and breaking them. I would like to comment on one review about the safety of L-Theanine. This compound is found in many natural foods, including black tea, otherwise known as "southern sweet tea". So, yes, it has been around for centuries, thus no studies on humans needed. It is considered very safe and an effective calming agent. But, it can make some people quite drowsy.
