  • Great cable, but does not work with DD+
Size: 3 ft
I ordered this cable specifically because of the comments about it working with DD+ on Viewhd hdmi audio extractors. I had tried with various other brand cables and had no luck getting DD+ to play without intermittent drop outs. I had high hopes after installing this cable, but unfortunately I still could not get DD+ audio to play smoothly. With this cable, the sound level would randomly dip about every 10 seconds like the volume was being turned down and up. Aside from not playing DD+ content smoothly, this is a very nice cable. The jacket is thick and provides adequate protection to the cable. The connectors snap into the receivers jack nicely with a pronounced click. I confirmed that the cable played regular Dolby Digital and DTS content without issue. I ultimately returned this cable only because it would not play DD+ content. That was the only reason I purchased it. DD+ is not officially supported over a toslink connection, but Viewhd claims it should work with their converter using this cable. I can attest to the fact that my receiver was showing a DD+ signal when connected via this cable to a Viewhd extractor, but it would not play smoothly. Since this is not necessarily a problem with this cable, since DD+ is not officially supported, I can't fault the cable. The cable is of good quality, just be weary of claims that DD+ can be played correctly using this cable or any toslink cable. ... show more

  • Don't listen to low star raters! They don't know what they're doing!
Size: 35 ft
This cable is built great and does more than I expected it too. Low star commenters are saying that the heads do not fit into their products or are loose and falling out and that can only be because they have never used an optical cable before. Typically they come with see through covers on each end of the heads for protection that you may not realize are there if you haven't bought them new before. With them on you can plug them in but they will fall out or not give you the full signal. If you have taken them off but there is not enough room to stick the cable in this one comes with a nice feature I have not seen before. The heads screw in and out to give the plug more room to fit and then they tighten the cable onto the device. It worked on my 80s laserdisc player that has a layer of plastic over the port so I can't see it not working on anything else. It works and it sounds far better than any RCA cables. Note that if you are using an optical cable for digital sound on a laserdisc you cannot access the analog sound that may have a commentary track on it so keep the RCA plugged in anyway. ... show more

  • Amazing product
Size: 6 ft
Amazing product. My old optical cable had lots of bad static , probably interference from the nearby Philips hue. This new cable is nylon wrapped insulated to prevent interference and my static problems went away with this new cable !

  • Sturdy but stiff
Size: 3 ft
This is a very well built cable and works well. The downside is that the cable is a bit stiff as a result and bend radius may be limited compared to others. It worked well enough for my use case but it was tight in the enclosed space I was fitting it into.

  • A Great "Cheap" Toslink Cable
Size: 6 ft
This is a really good toslink cable in my opinion. It screams quality, very good construction and sports a nice look and feel. It's certainly of a professional grade without the high end price tag commonly associated with such things. I use this to pipe my TV's audio to my DAC in order to prepare the digital signal for my Hi-Fi/theater audio system. I really appreciate the braided cable, it really takes things above your typical plastic/rubber coating that you'll find on most inexpensive cables. For a test, I set it up on my true "hi-fi" system, for which I typically use a (high end) coaxial connection that "supposedly" has better audio production capabilities. With a fairly high end audio setup, I was barely able to discern a difference from the DAC's optical input and coaxial input...and what difference might exist is probably in my head or more likely, has more to do with my DAC's inputs than anything else. I would be totally happy using this is a fairly high grade Hi-Fi application, especially considering optical connectivity isn't something that will degrade all that much unless the cable is truly poor quality. Admittedly, I have nothing to measure the bits across the wire, but perception is most important in audio applications anyway. Overall, high value and reasonable price...what I look for in a purchase! ... show more

  • Overkill, but they look and work great.
Size: 3 ft
No one actually needs these. Regular TOSLINK cables work just fine. These look extremely cool though.
