This one support Dolby Digital Plus / DD+ / Dolby D+ audio signal transport.
We are the seller of the ViewHD product lines on Amazon. The optical port of our HDMI audio extractors supports the Dolby Digital Plus / DD+ audio signal. But from time to time, we heard complains, received negative product reviews from our buyers that our products did not support DD+, and blamed us for false product advertising. We have been troubled by such problems for some time, and not sure the cause of such big gap in our product verification and customer observation until recently, we found out that the problems could come from the quality variations of Toslink cables. We purchased Toslink cables from three sellers/brands on Amazon, 1 doesn't support DD+ at all (works fine with Dolby Digital), another has hit and missed with different products/AV receivers, and this one (we have the 15ft) has worked reliably in our products' DD+ validation/testing. Therefore, we come here to provide our recommendation. === Other details for sharing === For the worst Toslink cable we got, it worked fine with Dolby Digital signal, but once we switched to DD+ signal, the line was completely dead, the AV receiver didn't sense any input signal. For the other Toslink cable, it was kind of hit and miss. When it was a miss, the AV receiver produced noise, and in some cases, we had to work around it, since the line somehow appeared to required a strange conditioning setup. For example, we needed to first use DD signal and got the system working, then switched to DD+, and in most cases, it worked; but if we started with DD+, we got noise sometimes. With this cable, it is plug and play with DD+ audio setup, no struggle, no issue. Great cable, but does not work with DD+
I ordered this cable specifically because of the comments about it working with DD+ on Viewhd hdmi audio extractors. I had tried with various other brand cables and had no luck getting DD+ to play without intermittent drop outs. I had high hopes after installing this cable, but unfortunately I still could not get DD+ audio to play smoothly. With this cable, the sound level would randomly dip about every 10 seconds like the volume was being turned down and up. Aside from not playing DD+ content smoothly, this is a very nice cable. The jacket is thick and provides adequate protection to the cable. The connectors snap into the receivers jack nicely with a pronounced click. I confirmed that the cable played regular Dolby Digital and DTS content without issue. I ultimately returned this cable only because it would not play DD+ content. That was the only reason I purchased it. DD+ is not officially supported over a toslink connection, but Viewhd claims it should work with their converter using this cable. I can attest to the fact that my receiver was showing a DD+ signal when connected via this cable to a Viewhd extractor, but it would not play smoothly. Since this is not necessarily a problem with this cable, since DD+ is not officially supported, I can't fault the cable. The cable is of good quality, just be weary of claims that DD+ can be played correctly using this cable or any toslink cable.

Quality Does Matter.
These cables work great. I have a digital output on a plasma t.v. and was looking for a way to tie the t.v. to my Onkyo receiver when watching over the air or Chromecast. I thought all optical cables were equal and initially ordered the 6' Amazon Basics cable. The A/B cable did not "snap" in like other cables and I could get no sound output from my t.v to my receiver, I spent nearly 2 hours going through sound menus, etc. then decided either my t.v.'s output was bad or the Amazon Basics cable was bad. I returned the A/B cable and ordered the Cables Matters 6' cable. It "snapped" right into place and worked immediately. Lesson learned.

Good Quality Cable
Probably not much need for digital optical cables unless one is in need of workaround connections between new and previous generation equipment which is what I was trying to accomplish. I used it to supply a audio connection between my new TV and a 3 year old surround sound system without ARC capability. This appears to be a very high quality cable and works perfectly for my application. Maybe less expensive cables would have worked just as well but, in my experience, paying just a little more for a higher quality cable is worth the few extra dollars.

After searching hi and lo through the audiophile sites and forums I finally decided top take a chance on this particular toslink cable and after a few hours of listening I can confirm that it is an excellent cable. I am running this from my older MSI P55-gd80 motherboard (higher end gaming from 2010ish) to my new RME ADI-2 DAC and powering my HD 660s straight from the DAC with a pair of unbalanced periapt cables. 192/24 sounds incredible. I can live in this space happily forever. I looked at the expensive audioquest cables but decided to go with the 'Cable Matters' for now. I don't really feel a need to even try the audioquest anymore. With this setup there is zero ground/jitter whatsoever. Pure audio bliss. Cable matters seems to be a good standard/bar/value that the other companies need to measure up to. Nice that they cared to include little caps on the ends to keep the optic perfectly clean/clear from factory.
