** UPDATE 8/17/25 ** Been about two months, still working great. I saw user Ronnie H posted a review stating he couldn't get above 89mbps. Suggestion: Make sure the ethernet cable used is rated at least CAT 5e. 89mbps sounds like the speed is being limited by a CAT 5 rated cable (which has max speed of 100mbps). Use at least CAT 5e cable, which supports up to 1000mbps (1 gigabit) speed. That should fix it, good luck! ** Original Review ** With Amazon Stick 4K Max 2nd gen I was getting about 200mbps via WiFi according to its speed test, about half my internet speed. My mobile phone right next to it was getting the full 400+mbps via speed test, so I think the WiFi chip in this Fire stick is weak. Placement behind the TV likely doesn't help either. With this ethernet adapter I am now getting 338mbps via a MoCA 2.5 connection (similar to ethernet - uses cable TV cables). This is almost the maximizing my internet speed, I think this is about as fast as it's going to get with this cheap little Fire TV stick. Very happy with this speed now as it's almost 70% faster than WiFi. More important than the speed is the stable connectivity and a consistent data rate. I realize 4K video only needs about 25mbps for a smooth streaming experience, but when streaming video from a server like Plex in your home, ethernet (or MoCA) just works better than WiFi. Using MoCA (connected via ethernet), the FireTV stick has a closer, more direct route to the Plex server and hence playback, Fast Forward and Rewind operations are faster. Video plays in about 1-1.5sec instead of 2-3 sec. FF/RW operations are 0.5-1sec instead of 2-3 sec. All operations are improved and it's a more enjoyable streaming experience. I use my Fire TV stick mainly for Plex and YouTube and since running larger 4K movies on Plex I started experiencing buffering on the FireTV when connected with 5Ggz WiFi. Some short research led me to this adapter and I figured with Amazon's great return policy I had nothing to lose as the price of this adapter is hard to beat. At first this was a true plug-and-play solution that worked immediately. I then used the Silk browser (preloaded on FTV) using fast-dot-com and was reaching speeds between 400 and 450 Mbps. However, there were a few times where I needed to power things off and on and I started noticing my Fire TV would get stuck in a continuous boot loops, sometimes indefinitely. I eventually discovered it would boot normally if I unplugged the network cable first and then reconnected it once the home screen loaded. Eventually, even that trick stopped working. After some troubleshooting, I realized the issue was power. The standard 5V/1A power adapter included with the Fire TV doesn't provide enough juice to power both the stick and this adapter simultaneously. I tested this by using a 5V/3A power bank, and the device booted perfectly with the Ethernet cable attached. To fix this permanently, I swapped the stock plug for a 5V/3A charger from an old phone, but with a catch. That old phones power Bank was a USB-C out. So for my purpose as I already had all these items, I used a USB-A (female) to USB-C (male) adapter to allow the USB-A plug from the Cable Matters device to now get its power from this more powerful block (5V/3A) Since making the switch, the connection has been rock solid. I am now getting speeds of 630 Mbps and this with my network running through a Wireguard VPN on my router. If you buy this, be ready, as you may have issues with the stock FireTV 5V/1.0A power bank.

Works Great. I went from 89Mbps via the Amazon network connection on my Firestick 4K MAX to 315Mbps. HUGE improvement. I stream 4K Movies from my local server so this will definitely help with that!

Super easy to setup, just replaced the Fire Stick's USB power cable with this adapter, plugged in the ethernet, and the FireTV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) is running on wired at ~450Mbps! =) I've got a solid WiFi5 speed from the Stick and it's been fine for streaming, but I'm now using the Stick for Xbox Cloud and Steam Link gaming... my WiFi signal has far too much "noise" unfortunately, and it's noticeable when gaming. This adapter solves that entirely, and now those options are running perfectly! Using it with a 2024 FireTV Stick 4K Max 2nd Gen and it was compatible instantly.

I just received this as a replacement for the Amazon Ethernet adapter that still works but placing on a spare tv. This item increases the download connection to 300b/s compared to the amazon adapter that was at 70-80 mb/s. Already I notice an increase in speed on the menu and it should make buffering less of an issue.

First let me attempt to establish some credibility by saying I'm well versed in home networking and I'm comfortable navigating all the advanced features of most home network equipment, subnetting, cutting and crimping my own CAT cables, etc. Having said that, this adapter simply does not deliver. I understand the limitations of the USB 2.0 architecture on most FireTV devices and the theoretical speed limits, however, this adapter does not even come close to those speeds. The max speed tests I got with it were about 140 Mbps. Believe it or not, I was actually happy with that because it's better than the practical 90 Mbps you get with a 10/100 Mbps adapter. I knew the advertised 300 Mbps was nonsense. HOWEVER, while not immediately obvious, this adapter suffers from fluctuations under demand, massive drops in speed, buffering, lag, stuttering, whatever else you want to call it. If you are just streaming Netflix and YouTube, this will probably work fine for you. If you are using a home media server like Plex or Kodi and were hoping that you would get higher bandwidth out of your FireTV with this "gigabit" adapter, you wont. You are actually better off with the Amazon-brand 10/100 Mbps adapter that will actually deliver a rock solid 90 Mbps, under both idle and peak demand. This adapter will run good for a few minutes before it begins to throttle.
