As other reviews have noted, this does not come with instructions, but the photos in the product description sufficiently describe its operation. Lip on the red arrow component is only about 1/8" so works well for measuring from the edge of flat stock, but would not work well with non-flat material. The tracks in the ruler lock both the cross piece and red piece squarely in place, enabling measurements or drilling holes to be made square and repeatable - this is its most useful feature. -1 star for claim of "Circle Scribe Compass" - there is a hole that could be used as a pivot but only location for a pencil is a notch in end of ruler ~11 5/8" away. Useless as a compass, very good for square, adjustable repeatable measurements and as a drilling guide. (Two twist drills are included). ... show more

So I don't install cabinets for a living but learned enough to know the importance of a good jig for drawer pull installations. I ordered this for an upcoming small DIY project that involves some cabinet drawers and hardware thinking it could help. I wasn't so much interested in the angle ruler and other functionality as a speed square serves the same purpose and is a lot less confusing. This drawer pull jig itself is constructed from aluminum and is therefore plenty light. There are a couple of bushings that are made to drill through and they even provide a couple of drill bits to ensure you're ready to go. There are no included instructions but after fiddling around with it for a bit and looking at the item description pictures, I was able to figure out the basic setup and operations. The "awh-oh" starts with trying to set this up on anything but a slab front drawer. A raised panel or mitered drawer front leaves this jig nearly useless as the jig is not deep enough to handle anything but nearly flat panels. On a slab drawer front, which I only have in my garage work bench, this jig should work fine. You could monkey around with the jig such as on the back of a non-slab drawer and possibly get it to work..., maybe..., but think that'd be just as hard as simply free-handing the pull installation. Definitely this jig is less than ideal in situations other than where the drawer front is flat or very near flat. Again, the ruler, angle tool, punch/scribe, etc., are features not really needed and there are other tools in my tool chest that can do so much better. All in all, this is at best a just-in-case drawer pull jig for me going forward and not something that I see myself really using any time soon. ... show more

The two included drill bits are about 5/32" (4mm). The sliding parts are machined well enough for consistency and the measurement marking easy enough to read to reposition (write down those settings). I will be using this for handles and knob placement. It would be nice if there was an easy way to view a centerline through the rulers so after a little use I might add a sight hole or two in the center of the rule. With a spring clamp and a positioning block, this will get the holes in the same spot every time. ... show more

This aluminum drawer pull jig is easy to use and includes bushings and drill bits. Despite the lack of instructions, I managed to set it up through trial and error and by referencing the pictures. However, it is not suitable for raised panel or mitered drawer fronts due to insufficient depth. It is most effective on slab drawer fronts. This is a very good quality professional tool, the aluminum is finely finished and anodized, the letters and numbers are cleanly etched into the metal and easy to read, and the center pointers have some spring tension so when you move them into a position they stay there until you tighten the knurl nuts. Although this has many functions for the woodworker, it is the cabinetmaker's dream! You can quickly drill for cabinet handles and set drawer slides with accuracy and speed.
