Although I did not use the metal strips that came with bird repellant kit , I was able to use the spikes in a different manner. My situation was a hanging wreath where the birds were creating their nest. I merely pushed the spikes up through the bottom of the wreath and I must say the birds are now looking elsewhere to build their family.     • Just what you need to protect the bird seed

In theory this seems like it will deter any squirrel but in reality once they realize the long, thin metal fingers are not sharp they will jump over and around this unit like no tomorrow - luckily most of the squirrels in my yard seem to be a few sandwiches short of a picnic and are scared to death of this shiny metal fortress, but there is a few smart ones that just hop right over the metal fingers and raid the bird food bowl - luckily I recently purchased very fast weasel from my neighbor - I named him “lightning” and he now looks just like a bird after I super glued some pigeon feathers on him, so Lightning stands motionless near the bird seed and when an over zealous squirrel does a cart wheel over the band of metal fingers he usually ends up a few inches from my weasel - who then decides to perform a sweet body slam followed by a couple well placed bites to the neck and next thing I know my wife is cooking up a nice pot of tasty squirrel stew - Mmmm mmmm - my favorite meal. ... show more

i only received two stainless steel bars for the spikes and three bags of spikes which is not so good because even for going cheap I like to get what I paid for I am not sending the other two back because I just dont have the time so ill use the two I have and just got to lowes or somewhere and pick up something ... show more
