I bought this one-gallon size and the 84 oz. size for road trips involving athletic activity. I've used the smaller one but not the larger one-yet. I could remove the insulation sleeve on the smaller one and used the smaller jug, which worked just fine. On the larger one, I fought, wrestled, pulled and gritted my teeth- could not remove it. I wanted to properly clean the jug but couldn't so I left it home. After a couple of months, I tried again. Once again, I fought, wrestled, pulled and gritted my teeth but could not remove it. While I would have liked the additional insulation for a bottle that's going to sit in the car until the end of the hike, I decided that cleaning was important too, so I cut the insulation sleeve off. This 1g jug works perfect for me. No leaks. holds the water cold for days on end. No issues whatsoever. Its also the perfect size to fit a entire tray of icecubes in it. (you literally dont even need to break the ice cubes up either as the ENTIRE tray fits in this)
