I wasn't quite sure when I ordered it, but this "brush wall plate" turned out to be exactly what I needed. It is actually a two piece assembly. The piece with the brush has a face the size of a designer type light switch or receptacle. The second piece is an outer plate that screws onto the brush piece much in the same was as a switch plate screws onto a light switch or a receptacle. The brush piece allows you to pass through a cable (such as an HDMI cable) with virtually any type of connector at the end. The brush then forms around the cable to hide whatever is behind (that hole in your wall for example). I actually ordered a second one of these after getting the first one. The first one (but not the second for some reason) came with instructions that explain how to install this brush wall plate using a low voltage mounting bracket. This would work fine and would allow avoiding use of an electrical type box if desired. In my case, I was running the cables through low-voltage conduit, so I did use a plastic electrical box -- and the brush wall plate assembly still worked great. I first unscrewed the outer plate from the inner brush piece (they come screwed together and appear to be one piece on arrival). I then threaded the cable through the brush piece and installed the brush piece onto the electrical box. Finally, I threaded the cable through the center of the outer plate, reattached the outer plate to the brush piece (which was now mounted to the electrical box) and voila, I was done. Before ordering this item I read one very critical review that advised against purchasing this item because it is not a split plate, meaning that the cable needs to be disconnected from it's point (TV, cable box, whatever) in order to use this wall plate. In my opinion that review completely misses the point. This item never claimed to allow you to install it without disconnecting the cable end. What it does do excellently is provide a much more attractive solution than a hole in your wall with a cable coming out. I'm very glad it did not come as a split plate, since this wall plate looks way better than a split plate and is likely sturdier too. ... show more

I bought this to run 3 HDMI's, 1 optical audio, network, and coax antenna cable from my entertainment center up the wall to my television. There was ample space to fit all of those cables. The boxes look great, although in my installation you can't see either of them. Installation was a breeze, if you are familiar with installing after construction wall boxes/low voltage boxes or already have boxes installed you'll have no problem attaching these plates to them. I installed a Sense energy monitoring system in my electric panel and the Sense comes with an antenna that has to be installed outside the electric panel. The manual for the Sense suggests mounting the antenna in a knockout, but because the electric panel is built into a finished wall, the knockouts are behind the wall too. So I decided to mount the Sense outside the panel. To do that, I took off the cover of the electric panel, removed a knockout, drilled a hole through the adjacent stud, cut a small opening in the drywall on the other side of the stud, and installed a plastic outlet box in the drywall, Then I ran the wires from inside the panel through the knockout, through the stud, through the outlet box, and out to the Sense, which comes with a wall-mounted holder. The result looked unfinished because there was no cover on the outlet box, so I ordered this brush wall plate to dress up the installation. This wall plate is made of thick plastic and looks like a high-quality product. It comes in two parts: the inner mounting bracket, which attaches to the mounting holes on the outlet box, and the outer face plate, which attaches to the inner mounting bracket. Works great for passthrough for my HDMI cable and for my bass signal to my sub for my soundbar. The size of the wall plate is a bit to small so I had to replace them with mid sized wall plates to cover the openings where these were used. So unless your outlets are with in the exact size of the gang box ( I mean exactly the same size, if it has a 1/16 inch over cut, these won't cover the cutout.) these are installing on, you prob should order mid size decora wall plates also at the same time to cover the opening, just switch the wall plate it comes with, with the mid size plates. If your using on old work, you will definitely need to get a larger wall plate to use with this as you won't be able to cover your cutout. ... show more

I purchased two Buyer's Point Brush Wall Plates so that I could run HDMI and power cables through a closet wall to mount a monitor for my home security camera system. The systems was installed inside a coat closet close to the front door. The wall plates were exactly what I needed. I like that they offer several mounting options. In my case I cut a rectangle hole to size on both sides of the wall and mounted them to the sheetrock using plastic screw anchors (no wall box needed in my case). They're highly functional and give that professional finish I wanted and at a great price.
