this is very user friendly. My 4 year old was able to help make this. She loved snapping the pieces out if the wood. She was not able pull back a load the catapult as the rubber bands are to strong for her. But we still had a lit of fun. It really is made for at least a 6 year old. An entertaining and educational well made kit that really works. It has very friendly instructions and is easy to separate the parts. My 10 y o grandson loves these kits and he spent about 1.5 hours or so to get them together and working - and they really work well. Only problem was we had to file a couple slots so the pieces would fit. It wasn’t a big deal. He also has been playing with them more than some of the others he has. Would recommend. ... show more

    • Nice idea, but junk quality
We wanted to love this when we got it for our son. He and my husband had fun assembling it together...until a piece broke during assembly. We assumed it was a manufacturing defect and decided to exchange it for another. They were quick to send a replacement, but on what was maybe the third time using our newly replaced one, my son accidentally dropped it and once again, a piece snapped all the way through and we are stuck with an unusable toy. I bought 5 of these and gave them to my grandchildren. It is a very different toy. Cardboard is very sturdy. Kids loved trying to hit different objects and they used a variety of items to put on the catapult.

My 7 and 11 year old assembled this without my help and were so excited to use this. The hardest part of assembly was using the rubber bands to secure the outer paper barriers on. Place a circular piece of paper or board in the center and turn on the unit. As it gets up to speed you can use markers or paints to decorate the disc and with paint centrifugal force spreads the paints out and you can get some creative images. You can also mount the unit on markers and with a piece of included clay to act as a wobble device, spinning up the unit will throw the unit around and on paper the markers will draw funny lines and scribbles that is just fun to watch. Overall this is a great activity and has a ton of uses right out of the box. I do have to say though that the markers cause enough friction to slow the motor down significantly if you press too hard. That and our wooden disc was unbalanced from the start so the unit tends to walk on its own even without the clay unbalancing it. But its an easy fix with a marker and some sandpaper or chisel. ... show more

The catapult was great. The bow was total junk. Did not work at all. Even with adult supervision. Updated review - I would buy from this company again. They reached out to me after i left my review and offered a refund and their apologies for the defective product.
