  • Battery pack is fragile
Style: 20+ STEM Activities
Nice kit for the price, but the battery pack wires are fragile, and once one of them rips out, the entire kit becomes useless. UPDATE: The seller got in touch with me and sent over two replacement packs, free of charge, so I'm updating the review to 5 stars to reflect the fact that they stood behind their product. ... show more

  • I just love it (and so does my son)
Style: 20+ STEM Activities
This kit is exactly what my son wanted but didn't know it existed. He was really happy to start building with it (he was 6 when he received it). I gave it to him a year and a half ago and he still uses it. the instructions are easy to follow and after we worked together once or twice, he started to build it by himself with no help. The kit comes with good quality parts and its also great for kids that are a little bit rough and curious ... show more

  • Happy little engineer and happy mom
Style: 70+ STEM Projects
The directional both are clear and unclear at the same time. In example things are not always clearly labeled or it's hard to know if you grabbed the right straw, etc. but there are so many photos that you can eventually figure it out by comparing size to other components of the project. That being said we've done at least 7 projects and it's been one of the best kits I've gotten so far because the wires snap together easily and the projects are simple enough for my 5 year kid to mostly do by himself (with supervision) In a few cases things were tight fits like the motor but I found if I put the motor nose first into the pop it worked just fine. ... show more

  • Pieces don’t fit together, bad instructions
Style: 20+ STEM Activities
Terrible! Doesn’t work! First issue was the instructions just have pictures and don’t truly label the pieces - not a huge deal, they’re all simple enough projects. First we tried the balloon boat. The pieces were slightly different than the pieces in the pictures but we figured it out - the directions talk about angling the straw to change the direction of the boat - but the hole in the boat is straight up and down, our straw could not be angled no matter how much we tried, and our boat went nowhere! Then we tried the motorized boat. Small issue, the cutouts are slightly different than pictured, as is the design of the motor. Now the big issue - We got it all assembled and my daughter was having a hard time attaching the propeller straw to the motor. I figured it just needed to be shoved on there tight, so I tried and tried and no matter what, it falls off. I tried electrical tape, it falls off. Looking through the instructions, this setup (the straw + motor) is used in most of the projects! So these components not fitting together is a huge deal. I hot glued them and it looks like it might hold for a little while under very gentle pressure, but really this is ridiculous. Waste of money, disappointed kids, and discouraged mom. Don’t waste your time and money on this poorly designed kit. ... show more

  • Fun kit but some parts issues.
Style: 20+ STEM Activities
I gave this to my five year old and she loved it. Our only issues were the fact that the kit was missing the larger paper discs for the spin art and the mini vacuum cleaner cup looks to be a different size than what is pictured in the instructions. When we made the magic mixer with the cup the foam thermocol balls jammed immediately since there wasn't enough room in the cup. ... show more

  • Good independent science kit
Style: 20+ STEM Activities
I bought this as part of a birthday gift for my 9 year old daughter, who loves science. At the beginning her dad helped her with the hovercraft. She doesn’t want to wait for the next project. She used the motor to create a few more projects by herself. I’m happy when she shows me her independent projects. Her favorite one is using the little motor to draw on the round cards. Wish they come with more cards. But I cut more for her so she can invite friends to try. At the beginning when you first open the kit, it smells like chemical for a few minutes. So I took everything in the garage. Other than that, it’s really a smart and simple kit that Elementory kids can do it themselves. ... show more

  • Fun, but some items were broken, dirty, or didn’t work
Fun projects for our 9-year-old girl who is very much into STEM. Unfortunately, some of the fun was ruined when the battery pack didn’t work right out of the box, and some other items were broken, dirty, or put together poorly. We ultimately purchased a rechargeable battery pack which might work out to be more economical, but still disappointing for the amount of money we paid for the kit. ... show more
