  • A great “bang” for the buck
Judge for yourself. I read many negatives about this rd and I really thought this was a mistake purchase. I sighted this in with my laser training cartridge (which I also got on Amazon a few years ago.). I took it to the range and worked flawlessly. I did loctite blue the this sight but I really thought that was common sense until I read some of the reviews stating the sight came loose and some who stated the lens came apart. Maybe I’m wrong but I’m guessing the sight was not on the firearm securely. This red dot was secured to my XD mod 3 and I was impressed. It is very durable and the optics are very clear. The dot is very adequate and I think it’s a great bang for your buck…pun intended. The XD’s next shooting rotation won’t be until June. If it fails, I will update my review but based on my range experience, I think I’ll get many years out of this red dot. ... show more

  • It's as bad as many people said it is.
Short story: the elevation adjustment screw did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING at all in terms of moving the dot to zero the sight. I never even got to seeing if windage could be adjusted. Why bother? Long(er) story: Yes, I read the many negative reviews for this product, not only on Amazon but also on Bushnell's web page for this sight, but I didn't want to buy another pricey micro red dot for my fourth semiauto casual target shooting pistol so I gave this a try. I read about (apparently) recoil causing parts of the sight to fall apart, but that was mainly on centerfire guns and I was putting it on a puny .22, and one that doesn't have the optic-mounted slide slamming forward and back (Taurus TX22 Competition) with each shot, so I figured this sight would be OK. (Later I found that someone with the same gun said, on the Bushnell web site, that their sight indeed got trashed with repeated shooting.) Well, at the range I tried zeroing the dot. Shots were hitting way low so I tried (and tried and tried) adjusting elevation and the dot didn't move at all. Tried gently moving elevation adjustments to their extreme, recentering. Did the same with windage. This did NOTHING. Other: As some reviews noted, this sight comes with absolutely NO instructions. (They ARE on Bushnell web site's page for this product, but it's totally inexcusable that the instructions don't come with the sight.) Having no instructions with the product is not too cool if this is the first red dot reflex sight you've bought. I've bought plenty but still wouldn't have known, for example, that there's a plastic disk to keep the already-installed battery from draining. It's nice that you can replace the battery without unmounting the sight, but you have to use a small screwdriver to PRY the battery out. There is no easy-to-remove battery tray you can grab and pull to remove the battery. There are a few other things to gripe about. For example, "what footprint" does this sight have? I'd like to know that before I buy. Nowhere in the ad did it mention that information, as I recall. You have to search yourself; I found the answer in the questions section for this on Amazon. Shouldn't have to do the searching: that info should be right on the product description in the ad. Overall, I should have known from all the bad reviews here on Amazon, and even on Bushnell's web site, not to buy this. Be forewarned, folks. ... show more

  • Great low profile sight!
Bought the 1st one and liked it so much I ordered a 2nd one. The best selling point is that you do not have to remove the sight to replace the battery. Installation was very easy and so far the mounted unit works just fine. Other positive points are: Comes with a removable protective cover, was an easy overall mounting process, has positive adjustments for elevation and windage, easy sight brightness adjustments and is very easy to turn on and off. Good quality, lifetime warranty all also great items. ... show more

  • Good value for a rimfire rifle
I purchased this for a rimfire 22 rifle for casual plinking. It works great, the red dot is crisp but there is some very light red spots that will appear in the field of view sometimes. The spots haven't interfered with the sight/dot picture but they are noticeable. I'm not planning on heavy use of this red dot, it has performed well on several range sessions shooting 100s of rounds. For the price, about $50 during end of year sales, I've been pleased with this purchase. ... show more

  • Good at $50
After ~400 rounds from my XDME 10mm, it's holding zero and I'm enjoying it. The glass is fairly low quality, and I'll probably scratch it up through cleaning over time. The dot itself is great, I've spent far more and returned similar sights that had steaks in the dot. If you have $50 and medium-low expectations, this is a great value. ... show more

  • Good little inexpensive red dot
Grabbed one of these when I found out that I couldn't put my unused 507k onto my new TX22 competition. While I wouldn't use one of these for a full size caliber, it seems to serve the intended function just fine on my .22lr. I've used it a couple times now and it seems to hold zero through a shooting session. I had to adjust it the second time I took it out, but I may not have gotten the zero dialed in right on the first session; so it's too early to tell if it is having issues holding zero right now. I'm assuming the dot is fine and it was operator error, but will update the review if I have issues later. Update after 9 months of use: It has held up fine over 9 months or so on my .22 pistol. However, I have found that the dot does not get as bright as I want it for shooting in bright sunlight. I really need it to go a couple clicks brighter. It did hold zero on my .22, so I have no complaints there. However, after using it for a while, I'm dropping a star (down to 3) for a few reasons. 1. It feels cheap. like really cheap. Almost all my other dots are Holosuns, and compared to those, this one feels like it'll break if you breathe on it wrong. 2. The window is not big enough. It has enough width, but the height feels very cramped and I would often "lose" the dot just above the window. 3. the glass has a blue tint to it. My Holosuns all have very clear glass, but in comparison, this one is very blue. This reduces visible light through it which can make it slightly more difficult to focus on the target with both eyes. In summary, it's not bad, but if I were to buy an entry level optic at this point, I'd probably get a Cyelee or just save up for another Holosun. ... show more
