These Bush furniture pieces are so easy to assemble. I don't consider myself handy by any means and I assembled the L-shaped desk, lateral file, and book case entirely myself with a light hammer, phillips screw driver and a pair of scissors. The book case came missing the plastic covers to conceal the cams and I just got off the phone with their customer service and it is EXCELLENT! These pieces are beautiful, well made (although very heavy) and gave my home office a professional look. Word of warning: The instructions manual for this filing cabinet is missing the last step before installing the drawer. You have to screw on the plastic piece for the drawer divider to hook onto. You’ll notice you have some extra screws! Also, they do scratch quite easily, so use care when assembling. I put a few scratches on mine by not realizing this in the beginning.

The cabinet arrived with the box broken, it had a 5”-6” rip on an edge. When I opened the box to inspect the panels there were a few with bent corners or chipped edges. About halfway through building it, I realized the package was missing pieces of hardware. I tried contacting Bush’s customer service and was on hold. After a few minutes the automated message said the go online to request parts or chat for help, and disconnected my call. I went online and received multiple errors when trying to load the website. So I currently have a half built filing cabinet, with a few raw edges(most chips or cracked corners are in hidden locations). It has the potential to be a beautiful and very strong piece of furniture. Just wish I could get the missing hardware.

I needed a new file cabinet so I decided on this one as it is stylish too. Bush is generally a good name product so i was confident in ordering this online. Time and the corona virus (stores are closed!) played factors as well in my decision. It took a bit of time putting this together, a couple of holes were larger than the screws provided but I still endeavored. Finally got it put together, the drawers will not close completely! Off by an 1/8 of an inch but I was willing to work with that aspect. As soon as I put files in the drawers, that's what sealed the deal in returning this despite my time and efforts already invested. The drawers would not close at all! I am saddened by this as I really like this design. Now I get to take it apart, pay UPS to repack to ship it back. Arrrrghhhh ....

I bought a new printer and needed a solid tabletop to put it on. So instead of just buying a side table, I bought this 2-drawer lateral filing cabinet, as it would serve not only to hold the printer but also all my files. I love that this looks like furniture instead of an obvious filing cabinet. The grey color is perfect with my office decor. It's very sturdy and easily holds the weight of the printer and both file drawers full of files. I'm not handy with tools at all, so I had a friend of mine put it together and it took him about 2 hours total. He did mention that part of the directions were backwards...but he figured out the right way to do it. It seems a little bit tricky to get the file drawer fully extended out, but it's not broken or anything....I think maybe I'm just hesitant to yank the drawer too far out. Overall I love this piece and it's a great addition to my home office space!

So happy I purchased this even after reading some of the negative reviews. It arrived early and in good condition. It took myself and my husband (really my husband) an hour to put it together. I definitely recommend you use a drill and not a hand screwdriver, things move much faster with one. It’s a beautiful piece. Much prettier in person, the back is a piece of wood and not that flimsy cardboard you usually get and it holds everything nicely.

A little disappointed that for 200$ we had to go purchase more cam locks because we were shorted two. One of the file folder brackets was broken, so I cannot use the bottom drawer for files. And there is a ding in the front of the top piece.

So far so good. The desk was pretty easy to put together but did take some time. The desk did require 2 people at some steps. I think it took us about 2 hours to put the desk together. I left the backing off of the drawer and cabinet to allow for wires. Also didn't install the shelf so there would be room for my computer tower and battery backup. My husband put the filing cabinet together by himself. It took a couple of hours and he said it was kind of a pain in the butt due to small screws and many parts. When putting everything together I did not notice that the surface scratches easy, which was a complaint I saw in the reviews before I bought it. Also, both pieces are antique white, not gray. This was another complaint I saw in the reviews. I do plan to always use a coaster though to avoid rings and warping. The desk and filling cabinet are sturdy and all drawers open and close nicely without any banging. I only installed hanging files in the upper drawer of the filing cabinet. I plan to use the bottom drawer for storage. The bottom of the filing cabinet drawers are not that thick and sturdy. I do worry that storing stuff directly in there will be a problem. Hopefully it will not break. I hope this review helps. I read them all before purchasing.
