  • While instructions for building it could be better, the product itself is really solid and nice! While instructions for building it could be better, the product itself is really solid and nice!
Color: Linen White Oak
I have been buying put-together furniture for over 2 decades and have learned to exclusively buy Sauder Furniture because of the quality pieces, customer service, and assembling instructions - the best in the market, IMHO. They even provide video. Unfortunately, the Sauder collection I've been purchasing to add to my studio in the last 10 years (Harbor View in Antique White) became discontinued and I needed a lateral file cabinet, I had to hunt for something in the same design genre. This led me to the Bush Furniture line, and I fell in love with this Linen White Oak finish, which is pretty close to what I already own. Upon arrival, I did the usual checking of parts (all good there), laid out all the pieces, sorted all the nails, screws, etc. into little Tupperware containers (my usual), got my tools, and got to work. I was dismayed though, at the less than great assembling instructions. Thank goodness I've done this many times and was able to figure out some of the steps on my own! Some might not be able to get it so easily if they're not mechanically inclined or have simply not used this type of furniture you put together yourself. The main issue was the drawer "slides" (metal mechanisms that hold the drawers in place) - not easy to follow at all. I had the entire thing put together except for the last steps of the slides on the drawers and realized I had to take them apart and re-assemble - something I've never had to do. As far as the quality, though, this thing is SOLID. I love the back of it being made from same material as the sides and top - something that Sauder could do better on some of their pieces. I'm very happy with the result and look. I've already begun using it and one of the features that I really love is that the bottom drawer has a "catch" on the slides that has a satisfying click when you close it, and seems to help keep the whole unit from coming forward on you. I don't plan to load it down Very satisfied with my purchase - just know that the building process is more laborious and tedious than it needs to be. One MAJOR thing to note, if this matters to you: The hanging file folders are NOT side-by-side facing forward. That only works for one half of each drawer, the way this is designed (see photos). That was disappointing. All the designers would've had to do is add about an inch to the "width" of this cabinet to accommodate forward facing file folders on both sides with two dividers in the middle (again, see photos). Final note: I would recommend that BUSH Furniture create a couple of short videos on how to assemble the trickier aspects like the metal slides, using the bolts, etc. Assembling furniture isn't always easy for the more difficult steps and would greatly enhance the customer experience. Thanks! ... show more

  • Great File Cabinet
Color: Washed Gray
We purchased this file cabinet, L-shaped desk, and writing desk for a small home office. It was great to be able to get matching sets to create a cohesive look in the limited space. All of the pieces are well-made, sturdy, durable, and look really nice. This purchase occurred before I knew I would be starting a new career where I work remotely 95 percent of the time. This furniture withstands daily use of over eight hours and is comfortable to sit at. The L-shaped desk accommodates three large monitors, a small monitor, two laptops, a desk light, a label printer, two keyboards, and two mice, while still leaving room for some paperwork. The filing cabinet is spacious, providing enough space for a large multi-function printer with additional room left over. We are very pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone. The writing desk is easy to assemble and can be put together by one person, while the L-shaped desk and filing cabinet are best assembled with two. The instructions for the L-shaped desk were somewhat confusing, requiring careful attention to the details to ensure the pieces face correctly. So, allow yourself plenty of time for the assembly of the L-shaped desk if you decide to purchase it. The assembly directions for the writing desk and filing cabinet are very straightforward and easy to follow. ... show more

  • Does not fit two rows of letter front to back and Dark Color, Very Black not bright Red-ish Cherry Does not fit two rows of letter front to back and Dark Color, Very Black not bright Red-ish Cherry
Color: Bing Cherry
First of all, this is engineered wood, not solid wood. The bottom of the drawers and the back of the cabinet are particle board. For the price, it is pretty enough, and functional. However, you cannot fit two rows of letter size folders front to back - you can have one front to back, with the others sideways (see video). You can move the center rail to accommodate legal size going front to back, and letter sideways. The actual inside dimensions are 22.5 inches long, 12 inches wide and 9.25 inches deep (inside). The drawer depth is less than the front panel depth. When I close the door, the mechanism that prevents both doors from being opened at the same time clicks, and if I stop pushing the cabinet in at that point, the door is flush with the sides, but sticks out at the top and bottom. You give it one more push and it is where it should be located. I tried showing this in the video, and two photos. The rails are plastic. One thing that concerns me is that the front door is attached to the drawer pieces with a plastic part - see photo of inside drawer corner. My father says plastic can be strong. Time will tell. The drawers do come with one stop for each drawer, to prevent them from coming all the way out. The drawers open easily, and the drawer sliders (rails) are all metal. They are greased, so I got some grease on me during assembly. Had to wash my hands several times to prevent grease from getting on the cabinet while I put on the drawer sliders. One pleasant surprise is that the unit comes with one furniture anchor (see photo with orange bag), that has one zip tie and a butterfly (?) bolt. Because it is engineered wood, one of the side front posts already is damaged. I have contacted the manufacturer for a replacement, which was sent quickly. I didn’t use glue where the dowels are placed (the instructions don’t say to use glue); therefore, I was able to take it apart again and replace the damaged front leg without having to remove the back; but I did have to take out both drawers. You must be very careful not to damage the wood while assembling the cabinet. The assembly instructions were pretty clear, and they have about 3 online YouTube videos to watch assembly of the cam and bolts. I am familiar with using this type of connections, so assembly was pretty straight forward. It lacks advice about keeping the slide rails straight, so I used a square (not included), and there is a little room for error here. If you keep the rails square, the drawers are pretty level when done. I used a level (not included) to get the front drawers into alignment- I only had to adjust the bottom drawer by about 1/8 or less inches on one side. You adjust by unscrewing the plastic part (see photo), moving the front panel slightly, and tightening the screws again. As for the color, I am disappointed. There is a photo of the color of the cabinet, but it’s actually darker than the photo shows. It has a lot of black, and is very dark. It’s not the color I wanted. The color I wanted is a more red- ish color. Overall, it’s nice enough for the price, and I will use it. It leaves me wanting a real all solid wood cabinet, one that is a different color - bright red Cherry and one that is longer, so you can have 2 rows of files front to back. From advice I have seen, people recommend that you do not paint engineered wood, because it can’t be sanded. ... show more

  • It’s work but worth it! It’s work but worth it!
Color: Pure White Oak
I’ve always been a “form over function”person, but in my later years, I decided I want things to look pretty as well as function. I have two mismatched file cabinets that I keep in my master bedroom closet because I don’t have a dedicated space for an office. And that was fine, but they looked old and ugly, and I was tired of seeing them, so I went on the Amazon app to look for something more attractive and larger. I’m not gonna lie this was really challenging to put together mostly because there’s no word directions. Just pictures. Probably the most difficult physically challengingpart was getting the drawers installed into the cabinet itself because they are heavy. All the instructions picture two people putting this together; so it really is a two person job if there’s another person available to help you, but that wasn’t the case for me. But I will say that when it was all completed and I had everything moved into the drawers I couldn’t be happier. It works perfectly for me and fits in the same space that my two other cabinets were in. And it is very pretty! ... show more

  • Linen White Cabinet - Highly Recommend! Linen White Cabinet - Highly Recommend!
Color: Pure White Oak
Wonderful file cabinet for the price. The wood and the hardware are all very quality parts. The size was perfect. I bought it to fit in a very specific spot in my walk-in closet under the shelves (I took the lower shelf out to accommodate it..). I needed it narrow enough to fit, but didn't want to lose too much space from my previous lateral file cabinet. It provides more room for files than a typical two drawer vertical cabinet. I bought it in Linen White to match the stark white in the closet. It's beautiful and matches perfectly. The only difficulty I had was adjusting the front face of the drawers to be level, but that is typical of any cabinet with drawers that you assemble yourself. I also found one of the file bars to hang the files on was broken on the end, but the customer service was really easy and helpful and have sent one. ... show more

This is just what we were looking for. Seems sturdy, drawers glide easily, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good it looks! Took just over 3 hours to assemble, but it was worth the time and effort.

  • Zero rating for customer service
Color: Linen White Oak
The cabinet instructions were fairly easy to follow. There is one QR code in the instruction book when scanned comes up page not found. Googling it will bring you to a YouTube page that has what's needed. When the first bottom drawer was installed it slid in and out well. After putting the top drawer in the bottom drawer no longer pulled out. I contacted the Customer Service for help. Their recording allows you to be on hold for five minutes then puts you in a call back status. After several days of never being called back I used their referenced email to submit a help request. Many days have passed with no answer to that either. Due to these communication issues I would not recommend you buy this product. ... show more

  • Great furniture piece for any room
Color: Pure White Oak
Great product. Very easy to assemble. Quality material beats almost any other ready to assemble furniture I've ever bought. Thick wood framing, and hard sturdy metal parts. I can fit several years of important files, and paperwork. I love the white, it goes well in any room.
