If you were to apply this primer to your whole face you would be very shiny. It has a silver/shimmery shine to it. I add this primer to my "high points" then apply a secondary primer to the rest of my face. I usually add a translucent powder then highlight and contour as needed. When first applying this, I wasn’t expecting the amount of shimmer is in the product. I’m more of a natural skin look, type of person, so I was happy to see that it can’t be seen through foundation. If you like tacky and sticky primers….. it’s mildly sticky when it’s wet, but not at all when it’s dry. Although, when it’s dry, don’t try to apply more or move it around. Just trust me on that one. Since COVID, I don’t wear much liquid foundation and just apply powder foundation and this grips my powder foundation and keeps it there giving other the false illusion that it’s liquid. I also appreciate the formulae that allows me to add subtle contour to my face without causing steaks or weird blending. It just stays where it is. Obviously the lack of sticky or tacky isn’t for everyone, and the shimmer itself isn’t for everyone, so this is not for everyone….. but if you are like me, I’m sure you’d like it. ... show more

I have very sensitive skin and have always had trouble finding products that work ok for me. Most of the Burt’s Bees products have been good and I use some of the other makeup but this primer was awful for me. It made my face really red and it felt like it was on fire like when you get a bad sun burn. I’m not sure exactly what I’m it I’m allergic to but obviously something. ... show more

    • Leaves a chalky texture to skin
I purchased this based on good reviews. What a mistake. It is very white, not sheer and what they call illumination is something I can't even describe. I've decided to keep it and mix it with a moisturizer for areas that I might want to whiten/highlight, but this is just because I don't want to bother taking it to the UPS store to return it. I didn't find any pros, but here are the cons: 1) chalky feeling when applying and leaves a chalky texture on skin 2) does not apply smoothly 3) the iridescence is kind of a frosty look (not glittery, which wouldn't be any better) 4) it is thin, almost runny. 5) doesn't hide imperfections and enhances wrinkles If you want your skin to look dry, white and with a frosty look than this is for you. Yuck! I thought it would be nice to have a little glow, but I will stick with L'oreal blurring face primer. It actually does blur wrinkles and imperfections. However, it doesn't leave skin really moist, but I have moisturing for that. ... show more

    • Doesn't irritate eyes
First glow-y primer that hasn't irritated my eyes. Iridescent. Lovely. Doesn't seem to help makeup go on any easier, however. I feel it causes makeup to separate a bit over the top of. Instead I use it over makeup as I feel it creates a no-makeup-look that way.

I love this primer. Truth: I never used primer before but lately I've been on the hunt for face products that don't cause horrible allergy problems, including makeup. This is nice, happy with it.
