  • Worth every penny. Excellent build quality.
Size: One Size
$350 is a lot of money for a bike trailer. A lot of people said I was crazy to spend that kind of money for an urban errand running trailer. I beg to differ. First off, all those detractors do not ride a bike. I ride daily and enjoy the exercise, even when it's 115 degrees. There is a big difference in trailers. I looked at the sporting stores and several bike shops. I was going to buy a kid hauler as I only needed it for grocery hailing and sometimes a dog. The quality I saw did not impress me. I studied the Burley brand and liked what I saw and read about in the reviews. I also resized that no trailer was going to be perfect, but I had certain things I look for and it seemed that while quite expensive, the Burley brand was as good as it gets to check the majority of boxes. I was not disappointed in my decision to buy the Nomad. When it came I unboxed it and 15 minutes later it was together. Inflated the tires and then the fun of figuring out how to put the hitch on my mountain bike. The rear axle is quick release so mounting to the axle was not an option. Fortunately the frame had holes drilled above the axle that were usable with a little work. A trip to the hardware store for some stainless hardware and 30 minutes of frustration later it was ready to hitch up. The trailer is all aluminum and canvas with a heavy duty top cover that is rubberized like a raincoat. It can easily be lifted up with one finger. The weak areas that other's have talked about on the canvas in the corners and the lack of enough crossmembers on the bottom are valid but not deal breakers. A piece of aluminum diamond plate and a few screws to hold crossmembers to the plate was all it took. I made the crossmembers under the plate to fit exactly between the outer frame members so the bottom fits right in and is easily removable. Put plastic plugs in the ends so over time it would but rub into the trailer frame. Only added 1.5 pounds to the weight. That solved the canvas bottom problem and worries about stretching and ripping. The only thing left to to is to go to the camping store and get some canvas waterproofing to put on the canvas body. Don't plan on riding in the rain, but there are always puddles on the road from various things. How does it tow? On its maiden voyage I decided to load up the laundry and make a trip to the laundromat. About 25 pounds worth. There are a few slight grades and one small incline on the way. I could not even tell I was pulling the trailer. Was just like it was not there. This is another prime example of getting what you pay for. It has a few things that need a little modification, but most would not need to go to the lengths I did. I have less than $25 in what I did and to me it was worth it. I also have to tools to do that type of fabricating so it was a fun project. As mentioned by many others, I will still reinforce the corners to prevent eventual fraying of the canvas and install taillights for night riding. Overall I have not seen any trailers that are built as well as this one or any others in the Burley line. After running it on a few errands I am not at all sorry for spending the money. Well worth it. With my mods I will have a little over $400 in it and I expect it will be with me 10 years from now in the same condition it is today. The claim of tipping the bike down and the trailer staying upright without breaking the rubber coupler I did not try. Simply looking at the design and feeling how firm it was did not instill any confidence it would survive a twist of 90 degrees. I don't know why anyone would do that and is beyond me. That is why there are kick stands. As soon as I get a chance I will put pictures of what I did and how. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • The best trailer!
Size: One Size
I love this trailer. You can't even tell it's there. Even when it's heavily loaded, all that you notice is that it's a bit harder to go fast. It's extremely well built. I intend to buy the utility trailer also, for things like bags of mulch from the hardware store. It's worth every penny.

  • Great but....
Size: One Size
Very nice trailer for my ebike. Girlfriend loves it that we can take along more "stuff." I like it because it's very maneuverable, light and has a surprising amount of room. As others have mentioned, the unprotected corners in back are an issue that I wasn't willing to deal with so I bought some pliable, silicone corner protectors and used some Lexel elastic sealant and some small screws and made it a non-issue. Yes, Burley should have been on top of this from the get-go especially after so many people remarked on the problem. And especially considering the price. For premium dollars you expect little things like $1 corner protectors to be included. I've also purchased a sheet of 1/4" oak and will be making a floor. Again, as others have mentioned, the canvas floor can become problematic after a while. I appreciate the comments/advice others have left to help me make a four star investment into a five star one. ... show more

  • Build In a little extra
Size: One Size
I’ll try to keep this brief! It is to be noted I own 3 burley trailers: the travoy, the flat bed? and now the nomad. And I have hitch connections on all of my bikes. 8 bikes but that’s another story. Bike enthusiasts understand. So goes without much intro that I’m into their products by a few hundreds of dollars. Let me mention that I purchased and returned same day the single wheel trailer (built like the legendary Bob trailer. It was so poorly executed of design i took one spin and boxed it back up. So I’m not taking sides if it’s garbage. So the nomad is easy out the box like all of their stuff. Easy to set up etc. However Iike a few reviewers have mentioned...there should be some improvements to get a glowing 5 star. Here’s what it needs to be perfect: 1. Larger wheels for clearance should come standard. I bought them and I won’t go smaller. 2. The base materials are thin & unprotected; and after one use the edges didn’t appear of long use. This caused me to get creative at a hardware store. Foam board and vinyl is the trick. 3. Needs.flooring so the foam board is eas and lighter than plywood. 4. I covered the front n rear base. But this should come standard as they missed the mark. So I’ve supplied pics. Hope it helps. It’s a great trailer. Sturdy. Ride is smooth. Love the covered trailer feature and the pockets inside. Would give it a 5 if it had a better/ firm interior floor, a better material base scuff and rip protection, and bigger wheels out the box. ... show more

  • Fun adventures ahead for all burly owners
Size: One Size
I purchased this model because I was looking for an Enclosed cargo trailer to use when my Burly flatbed trailer is not needed. I took her out for her Maiden road test ride today . As you can see in the photograph I did put on the wider wheels from my Burly cargo flat bed trailer . (The wider tires make towing on less even roads easier) She handled well even in the snow loaded with about 60 pounds of groceries. The outside is now covered in road water and mud but the inside is nice and dry and that is exactly what I needed. Very well made. Very easy to set up. I have the cargo rack on order so it should be even better when I install it to the top. People do complain about to higher cost of the Burly products but there is definitely a noticeable difference between them and the cheaper products. I do wish they where still 100 percent American made and that would turn my review In to 5 Stars. The biggest problem I have is I keep finding more Burly products to purchase. I now own the open flat bed, the larger wheel kit, the dry bag, multiple hitches for my bikes, and now this enclosed cargo trailer. Thank you for your fun products that make my biking adventures amazing. ... show more
