Got this hat for sun protection and comfort while taking Covid-inspired walks in South Florida. While there is not significant airflow, as there might be from a mesh material (hence the 4 starts for comfort), the hat does the job. Completely sun-resistant, my white hat absorbs sweat well and, amazingly, hardly discolors as a result. It has braved multiple hours-long walks in the heat and retained its shape and color. The bill is long enough to allow me to eschew sunglasses (which make it very difficult to see the screen on my phone). I'm not the kind of person that wears a hat but this hat is very cool.It's very The material is excellent.I went swimming at the beach where the water has a ten Tendency to turn white things kind of yellowish but this material In this hat fits and feels wonderful.And when I washed it it came out bright white again. As I say, I don't normally wear hats.But I would definitely recommend this to anybody who's not fond of wearing hats.Because this does make your head feel cooler ... show more

I'm bald and need to wear a hat at all times for sun protection, so I purchased this hat to wear while in the water at the beach on a recent vacation. It's a good hat for that - the strap kept it in place and it's pretty light-weight. The crown is a little larger than I like, though, and while it's a comfortable hat, it isn't "comfortable enough" for me to wear all the time - I always wear a hat, so I usually purchase ones that are very comfortable and more expensive than this. Works really well. First Arizona summer and this hat is a must. Any slight breeze cools your head. It's very light. The only reason I know it's there sometimes is be cause a the bill.

Well I'm a dummy. I bought this hat without noticing the suggestion that it should be wet in order to be cool. So first impression was wow, nice hat. Very lightweight. I put it on and immediately started adjusting the back strap down -- sucker is way big and hey, I am of the big head tribe (close kin to Big Foot, you may have heard of them). Second thing I noticed was that dry it was kinda hot. So I takes it to the Disregardless testing lab and compared it to a plain old cotton hat. Not a lot of difference coolnesswise. I noticed that the sides are a nice breathable fabric, but the top is made of some kind of breathimpervious nylon material. Hmmm. So i check on the reviews (a bit late, I admit) to see if anyone else had the same complaint. And they did. That's when I discovered the wet thing. Next outing I wetted it down and it was cooler. But of course, you could do that to just about any hat. Ok, ok, wrap it up: If you have a big head and are looking for a summer hat this is for you. If you have a standard head and already have cotton hats that fit, soak em down and save yer dinero. That's it for me. ... show more

The entire premise of this particular hat is to keep you cool in high heat. We live in South Florida, and it's summer, so temps in the high 90s and horrendous humidity is a daily threat to everyone's health and wellbeing. I work outside with horses almost every day but because of the overbearing heat index, I am always looking for a way to basically not pass out from heat exhaustion. I've even just taped bags of ice to my head in total desperation. SO I see this hat which looked like it might solve the problem. Directions say to wet it, ring it out, put it on and supposedly the minute you begin to sweat, the cooling action kicks in. Well, nothing like that happens. (OK - the temperature when I used this yesterday was 92 and maybe this technology just can't deal with that type of heat....not sure.). What DID happen was the sun simply heated up the moisture left on the hat and turned my head into a steam room. This didn't work for me, but it might work well in other climates. ... show more
