Great device, app needs work

We purchased this for my mother in law for Christmas and she absolutely loves it! All the kids and grand kids can send photos directly to her and she loves that they will cycle through so she always has something different to look at. The app could use some work though; occasionally a photo will come
through black, as if it didn’t load into the app correctly when one of us sends it and there is no way for them to delete the photo from the app. Or it’s at least not user friendly enough for any of us to figure out. This would also be nice when they get duplicates. My husband, his brother and myself each sent the same photo from a Christmas event, so this now pops up 3 times in the rotation.

I really enjoy this frame. The rotating carousel of memories gives me so many moments of joy throughout the day, and the picture quality is great for the price. ged it back in it wouldn't boot properly. I contacted the seller hoping for suggestions on how to do a hard reset or other troubleshooting tips. Jade from the support team was very polite and responsive. She suggested I try a few things, and asked me to film the tests so she could see what I was seeing (simple, but effective when you think about how frustrating it is when a support person talks as if you're doing something wrong when their troubleshooting tips don't work). When we ran out of things to try, Jade sent me a replacement without my even having to ask. For me, a great customer service experience more than makes up for the annoyance of a product that doesn't work as expected.

Excellent - after a bit of work...

The problem I was looking to solve was unlocking the tens of thousands of photos that are locked up on my laptop from the last decade, particularly my kids growing up. I started looking at digital frames, and found some of them more exp
ensive than I wanted, and with many features (such as wireless/NFC capability) that I don't think I'd ever use. I settled on this one based on reviews, price point, and the fact that it's small/discrete/unassuming. Here are the steps that followed for me after receiving it: 1) I first just tried to load ALL of the pictures I've taken in the last 10 years, realizing that exceeded the manufacturer's "10,000 pictures" stated ability. Loaded 60k pictures onto an SD card and it crashed the frame. OK, that's not gonna work... plus I have a lot of junk pictures mixed in there... so what's a better approach? 2) I used the facial recognition feature in Apple photos to select the 11k photos that contain my kids faces. I downloaded those to an SD card, and this time the frame could handle it. However, the "random" feature was missing from the frame in its as-shipped configuration. 3) I contacted the manufacturer about new firmware and they sent me a link. I had to "unrar" the file they sent me, and the two files that I actually wanted on the SD card (in order to upgrade the firmware) were "fwimage.upg" and "SPF0164_8.2_1024768_20190401v2.fw". Upon updating the firmware on the frame, the random display capability now was present. 4) I simply turn on the frame every morning, and it does all the rest. It always shows the same first picture, but then after that I find the random algorithm to be quite good. I liked this setup so much that I purchased a second frame, got another SD card and loaded identical content (11k pics of my kids) onto it, and then turned them on at the same time, to do a side-by-side comparison of the random algorithm. I noticed no discernible overlap... i.e. I think the random algorithm works as it should - it randomly selects from the 11k photos that I have loaded on. I'm very happy with the frame at this point. And my kids love it too. Above is a picture of the settings that I have set on my frame, as well as a picture of how it fits into my family room decor. Another note: the frame turns on automatically when power is applied... so if one wanted to have it on a timer (or an Alexa smart device) one could just apply power to it and have it turn on automatically each day. I perseverated about giving it 4 stars or 5 stars. If it came with the random function out of the box I would certainly have given it 5 stars... the extra work required to get me there knocked it down one star, but in the end I'm very pleased with it, and would recommend it to anyone else looking to unlock their digital photo library in a cost-effective fashion.

Great for grandpa, not for me

I got this frame for me, not grandpa, and i am returning it. It has a lot of things going for it, hence the 4 starts. Screen is great, software is only good for grandpa. The screen is great. It has all features you want. It is very good resolution. Surprisingly, you don’t find many 6MP screens around
to show your 10MP pictures. It is fairly large, it has a thin bezel. And it is cheap for the hardware you get. The software is too basic for me, though. I have library of 30 years of pictures, about 1,000, that i manage from my computer. And that is not what this is made for. My main issue is that it does not show the date the picture was taken (or the location, or any caption). I.e. it does not read the exif, the information that your camera automatically adds to any picture you take. You can only show the date you sent the picture to the frame. Which is great when you send grandpa the picture you just took, but not if you want to show a range if 30 years if pictures. And it does not connect directly to your computer or phone at home. All it does via wifi is connect to the company server. You send the pictures to them and they send to the frame. Which means you do not manage the frame through your wifi, you cannot delete pictures, see what pictures are there or change any settings through wifi. It also means that the only way you can upload more than a handful of pictures is to put them on a micro sd card and physically put it in the frame. Which is exactly what i wanted to avoid by getting a wifi frame. (Yes, you can also physically connect to the frame if you take the pc to the frame or the frame and power brick from the wall to to the pc). I also don’t like the idea of sending pictures to some company to get them on the frame that is 3 feet from me. It has privacy implications, and it will stop working if the company decides to stop supporting it (or if it goes bankrupt). Hope this helps.

Use it and look at it every day!

But, the software in theory allows others to upload to your frame if you give permission to do so. You can either upload by e-mail or the app. I recently tried both methods to put some new pic
tures on my girlfriend's frame and neither showed up even though I got no error message from the e-mail and the app said that I had uploaded successfully. I looked at all of the pictures I could see on the frame and did not see them. So far, they have not shown up. I guess I am going to have to upload them from her phone instead of mine and her family's. That part was disappointing. But, on the plus side, once the photos are there, this frame does a good job of displaying them and rotating them. It also has local weather and information. If I could give 4.5 instead of 4 or 5, I would.

Showed connected to internet but never gave access code

Got this for a family member for Christmas. Went through set-up process and it would connect to the Wi-Fi but would never give me an access code or QR code to complete setup. Tried to do a factory reset but still wouldn’t work. Tried to use the app to see if that was the problem and it wouldn’t work
either. Buy something else other than this piece of garbage. UPDATE: After leaving a. 1-star review, the company reached out to me to inform me that it was a server error on their end that led to the frame not working. We have tried it again and it seems to work as advertised. I am upgrading my rating to a 4-star. If it weren't for the network issues on Christmas Day and having to take back the gift that was bought for family due to thinking it didn't work, my rating may be a 5.

Waiting for Customer Service

I have been trying to upload photos to it via the app. The frame is connected to WiFi, I have done a factory reset, and I have re-paired the frame a couple of times. Nothing works. The app keeps saying that the photos were uploaded successfully, but they are not th
ere. I have only tried to load about 10 to 14 photos. I contacted customer service, and I am waiting for them to respond to me. I will update this review when/if the problem if resolved or not. Other than not being able to get the photos on the frame, the screen quality is good, and it seems like I will like it if I can get the photos to load.

Pretty much like any digital frame but compared to the one I kept, this one does not (CONS) 1) doesn’t allow you to change the zoom setting on a few photos, the setting is either all or none 2) lighting is darker 3) the forecast is available but it doesn’t display the forecast CONS like other frames:
