I'm a fairly avid scrapbooker and I bought this machine primarily to cut out ephemera from my scrapbook pads. I am not the best fussy cutter. First let me say that this is my first cutting machine, so I have ZERO experience. Please factor that into my review. If you go into this blind like I did, you have a steep learning curve. This machine has some unbelievable abilities and I'm slowly getting to know what they are. The handy quick instruction sheets are helpful, but barely scratch the surface. There are plenty of videos available and I heartily suggest a YouTube search. The machine is sleek,well thought out and works flawlessly. The only thing need to be aware of using the scan and cut mode is there has to be a strong contrast between the image to be cut out and its background. There are adjustments for light edges and a light background but even so, the machine may fail. For all you folks like me, wishing to avoid fussy cutting, you will still find some ephemera must be cut by hand. But, what the machine can do, it does beautifully, rght down to small details. The machine is quiet compared to others I've seen and it is sort of user friendly but Learn, Learn! You will be rewarded for your efforts. My one complaint so far is the mats. They do lose stickiness fairly quickly. I use a cardstock that is heavy on linen and that most likely contributes. Again, videos are available to help you learn how to make your mats sticky again. All in all, I'm very happy with this machine and I think it is well worth the cost . It's like all technology..when it works, it's pretty awesome. UPDATE..... DON'T LET THE MATS GET BENT! I have a small crafting space and so I need to kind of cram things. I have been so careful with the mat but the upper left hand corner got a little bent out of shape. I was able to straighten it out pretty well on a flat surface with a wood block. BUT the corner remained bent upwards enough to catch in the machine as the mat loaded. As a result the laser couldn't read the mat. I've tried working on flattening it more with limited success. So, I bought a new mat. Just be aware.

If you are looking for something to cut you should spend the same amount of money on this because it is the only machine that scans pictures a cuts them out. Amazing machine.

So easy to use; primarily used to make vinyl stickers, having fun and learning new things, I highly recommend others to chose the Scan & Cut over the other cutters in the market.

I love this product. I do a tremendous amount of sewing. It's been a life saver. Only downfall is the Matt's wear out very quickly and are very expensive. When you use them as much as I do.

When I opened my scan and cut; the blade cutter did not work. It jumps/pumps up and down on the vinyl, but does not cut. I did do a successful "test cut", but it never did an actual cut on vinyl or paper. However, when I tried my friend's cutter, it worked perfectly. After waiting on line for over 30min, an agent suggested I send it back to Amazon or go to a distributor, but did not know who would pick up the charges. Frustrating. Now in the process of getting a replacement.
