I would have to give this a 4 1/2 star rating. I just love this machine. It is very easy to use. All you have to do is read. I am a sewer though and make c quilts also. I just wanted something different to add to my quilts. I make one for every grandchild that graduates. Now I can put their name and year of graduation on a square with a design. Attach it to the back of their quilt. Their is so much you can do with this little machine. It's computer compatible also and so many free designs out there. Just have to make sure it's a four by four area. I have already ordered a larger frame or hoop for it. That way I don't have to rehoop it. Just love love this machine and is plenty big enough for what I need. I don't know why I waited so long. To get it. We travel some and it's small enough to take in our fifth wheel. I just can't say enough on this machine. Actually the more I use it , it's five stars. Auto thread is great for my older eyes and the auto thread cutter also. You just have to make sure and use good thread and I also use prefilled bobbins.

Awesome little machine. Follow quick setup instructions and read manual before stitching. Had to adjust the tension a bit to suit me but not bad right out of the box. I love Brother machines. My sewing machine is a Brother and sits nicely next to my new embroidery machine. Definitely a beginner machine. I didn't think such an inexpensive machine would have a trace feature... But I was pleasantly surprised... I will keep buying Brother machines as long as they make them...

So far I like the machine. It is simple and easy to use.The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because it does small size embroidery (4x4 is the biggest). I should have done more research. Maybe finding a machine that had interchanging size frames. Other than that the machine embroiders very well and can be use for small embroidery project. Perfect for beginners just like me.

I am very new to embroidering so I purchased this machine as a way to get started. It has done an ok job. I've had LOTS of tension issues. I've had problems from day one and really should have sent the machine back. It is recommended to have a setting of 3 for the tension but I have it set on 0 and it has bent and broken all of my needles due to tension problems. The thread becomes so tight through the threading process that it bends and breaks the needle. Once I remove and rethread, I have no problems. Other than that, this machine has been a ok starter machine. If you want the ability to embroider larger than 4x4, purchase a different machine.

My wife is in love with this machine to the point where I ordered a second one. She is able to create amazing items embroidered with custom patterns easily. She was not the most technically apt person when she began this journey, and she has said many times that it was very easy to learn and intuitive to master. I would highly recommend this embroidery machine for those looking to get into the craft.

Do not buy this crappy machine! First time one I got was DOA with a bad power supply, called brother and had to go through hell to get them to get me a replacement (also took forever) next one worked for one week (6 Embroidery's) then the display went out. Called brother and again they are putting me through hell so Screw it. Going to trash this crapy thing and move on. Also note that I have experience with embroidery machines and made sure everything was being gently and properly used. This is just a result of poor manufacturing. Never shopping with Brother again!

The machine is great and works wonderfully. However, I needed to call customer service for a quick question about replacing pieces. Tyrone was cold and off-putting when talking to me. Brother themselves wanted to charge $57 for an additional hoop! It was $100 to replace my books and other small items, including the hoop, that come with the machine. That is just ridiculous. I know Tyrone doesn't make the rules or prices, but being warm and welcoming goes a long way when working in customer service. I believe I will be taking my sewing business to another company from now on.

I have never used an embroidery machine before. At first I felt a little overwhelmed figuring it out because it was something I had no experience with. However, I quickly got the hang of it. It really can't be more simple. It comes preloaded with designs, but I have also found many websites that off free embroidery designs that transfer over to the machine beautifully. Perfect for a beginner.
