This item was recommended by Consumer Reports. I wish I had had one sooner, to be honest. I grill once or twice a week and have a permanent, outdoor grilling station with stone work surfaces. The grill is stainless steel with stainless steel side trays on each side. The trays would get very messy with oil, BBQ sauce and other messy items as I grilled. I would use paper towels to try to keep the mess down but they would either blow away or get too messy very quickly. Now I put this mat down and I can rest tongs, brushes and other tools on it without worrying about the mess. It seems to be fairly resistant to heat and still looks new, after a solid month of use. Clean up is easy - you can either wash by hand or just toss in the dishwasher, which it is rated for. It can hold water though if you lay it flat in the dishwasher so works better if you can lay it so the water can drain off. Still, this is way better than my previous ways of keeping the mess down and I may buy one more for the other side of my grill. ... show more

Bought this for outside use with grills. Great size for several tools, easy to wash and just an overall good idea. Keeps cooking tools off the outdoor surfaces which keeps them cleaner and also keeps the surfaces from getting greasy and/or stained. Win/win.

So far, so good. After reading other reviews, I decided to get 2 so that it would cover my entire surface. I attached a pic, and the coverage is perfect. I decided to get these vs buying a grill mat to go under my grill. I have read too many horror stories of grill mats destroying composite decking... I place all dirty grill equipment here while grilling, and when I’m done, I clean it - then hang it off the side of grill once it clean (so nothing drips down). The other side of my grill has a side burner that I can keep closed and use to hold plates and food, so instill have some surface area to use. It’s a large 4 burner Weber grill. ... show more

For a smaller grill (2-burner Weber Spirit II e-210 in my case), this mat is well-sized. My side shelves are about 11.5"x16", so this mat at just under 11"x14" is a better fit for me than it is for those with larger-sized shelves. As other reviewers have noted, this mat is great for protecting the stainless steel shelves and is quite easy to clean. I liked it so much, I bought one for the other shelf the same day I received the first one. The one downside is that it feels sort of pricey for the size and what it is, but comparing it to similar items, I guess it does appear to be in the (higher-than-I-anticipated) ballpark. ... show more
