    • Don't buy salvaged Raid controllers.
Got 2 of these. Set one up and it seems to work fine. Just now opened second unit and the card is flaky worked a few minutes then started crashing windows. Should have tested both cards as soon I got them but didn't. Be warned about buying used Raid controllers. Or at least test as soon as they arrive. Now stuck with worthless hardware. Also they seem to be a Dell OEM version. Couldn't update firmware.. ... show more

    • You may get a 9441. RAID 5 may not be available. Beware Modern chipset compatibility (Z890).
This was clearly pulled from a Dell device and is not the base 9440 model. I had compatibility issues with a modern Z890 chipset where it would lock the boot 80% of the time, and tried to flash to the latest FW. Discovered it is really one of the Dell 9441s since I could not flash to the most modern FW, which caused me to look closer at the storcli metadata more closely. Also the RAID 5 was locked behind a requirement for purchasing a "premium" license. I'm not sure if this is property of the 9441 or not. Anyway, this card didn't work out and the seller description is incomplete and slightly fudged since it claims Raid 5. Depending on your application this may or may not matter to you, but it mattered to me. Otherwise, this was fine. The seller sent it promptly, it worked electrically, and the price was reasonable. ... show more

    • Worked fine
Card was a real Broadcom, not a Dell rebranded one with firmware limitations. Dropped right in and worked as advertised.
