The PCIUSB3S4 4-Port PCI to USB 3.2 Gen 1 Card enables legacy PCI slots to support the SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard, which is capable of data transfer rates up to 5 Gbps. Using USB 3.2 Gen 1 devices with this card will increase data transfer rates with up to 1.3 Gbps of available bandwidth (PCI bus limit) - more than doubling performance compared to a USB 2.0 connection. Note: Some newer PCs may use a PCIe to PCI bridge which can cause unexpected compatibility issues with this product. This versatile USB 3.2 Gen 1 adapter includes an optional SATA power connector which allows each USB port to deliver up to 900mA of power to connected USB 3.2 Gen 1 devices - suitable for even the most power hungry devices. I had been looking for a way to add USB 3.0 to my T1500 as all the USB ports were 2.0. I tried a PCI-Express version, but my Nvidia video card blocked the slot on the motherboard. I tried using an extension ribbon cable as well without success. I came across this card by searching for "USB PCI 3.0" and was happy that there was a unit available. Physical installation took minutes and Windows 10 booted successfully. Drivers were automatically installed. I confirmed it was installed via device manager. Ran a couple of quick tests by copying from the 2.0 ports and then the newly installed 3.0 ports. Literally double the speed. I bought to add USB 3.0 to my old Gateway LX6810-01 which I bought new in 2009 and still use as a primary machine. It is stock except for an upgraded Corsair 750W power supply and Sandisk 1 TB SSD. That leaves it with an available PCI slot, which this card fit. However, the case interfered ever so slightly with the USB ports (because they're vertical not horizontal as in the 2-port version of this card) but with some persistence, I was able to plug a USB cable into each port. Also, I received Error Code 31 in Device Manager which meant the drivers were loaded but due to the enabled Windows 10 Fast Startup, it took me some time and internet searching to find out I just needed to perform a restart to make it work. That did the trick. It otherwise works beautifully and I was able to take full advantage of the new 802.11ax standard with a just-released USB Wi-Fi 6 adapter and my ISP's Wi-Fi 6 gateway. ... show more

Hi, this is the review for the StarTech.com 4 Port PCI SuperSpeed USB 3.0 (PCI and not the PCI Express) I was expecting more from this product, I ordered it for my Intel DH61WW motherboard hoping i can add USB3 support and have transfer speed around 100Mb/s with my USB3.0 Seagate External Hard Drives (I use a lot of external HDDs and i transfer large files 40GB+ from HDD to another) so i was expecting to have my work done much faster then the (16Mb/s to 20Mb/s) USB 2.0 transfer speed i was getting originally. I paid 65.42$ for this Item and 17$ to ship it overseas to my current location (82.42$) in Total because it was the only "PCI" USB 3.0 controller i could find online, I needed it to be PCI because the PCI Express slot is already used by the Nvidea Geforce GTX1060 GPU, and i only have the PCI slot available to use in case i needed to add USB 3.0, but i was surprised that after installing the card on Win10 64Bit / Intel DH61WW board, i had a problem in Device Manager showing the "PCI to PCI Bridge" as cannot be started, so i tried for 3 days installing updated drivers with no luck, then I went into updating my Motherboard BIOS with several versions, one of them almost killed my MB, it was Intel Bios Ver 99 which left my MB in an almost bricked state, and i spent another 2 days trying to recovery Flash the BIOS with many methods at the end i was lucky enough to have it fixed. Then i gave up on this card, so i took it and installed it in my other Work PC which didn't have anything occupying the PCI-Express slot, and it worked fine after Win10 installed the Renesas drivers automatically (the Drivers provided on disc are old and must not be used) Now comes the real let-down, i plugged 2 of my HDDs and started a file transfer of 40GB, the maximum speed reached was 37 MB/s Then i copied the same file from the USB 3.0 HDD to my internal SSD and i got around 83 MB/s so my increase in transfer speed between external HDDs went from 20 MB/s to 37MB/s which is not worth it for me that i was expecting a speed around 100MB/s Bottom line, 82.42$ spent on a card that didn't work as intended due to compatibility problems with the motherboard used, so better be sure that your old motherboard is fully compatible before ordering. ... show more

After a few years, coming back to see this review. I'm shocked at what a terrible read that was. I apologize for anyone that was hoping for a legible, helpful review. I bought this card because availability of space. Setting up VR to computer, MOBO 3.0 slots arent functioning well. Find a forum with alternative work arounds. I found a verified working pci to 3.0 so i get it without researching or checking my setup, so gpu blocks pci-e slot. So i buy this card, considerably more expensive as the pci-e was Amazon prime 15 dollars. And this card almost 70. Anyway. So i hook up the vr, i get connectivity to my rift headset, then sensor 1, but attaching sensor 2. i get a "resources too low" error. I have disabled this and that, troubleshot the crap out of it. I havent tested port speeds, but as usb slots they have power and communicate with devices. I know usb is about endpoints, i am going to try to completely uninstall everything. Find a different driver and see what happens. I hope maybe i installed the wrong driver. And im only using 1/2 of its full potential. ... show more

Installation is straight forward. All you need is an available PCI slot on your mainboard, and optionally an available SATA cable (and port) to connect to the adapter for more power if you find that you need it. I have an available SATA port, but I tested the card without the SATA connection, and all is working well for me so I did not bother connecting it. I have an external USB3 SSD drive, and now I can access it about as fast as I can my internal SSD drive. I am also using a USB3 WiFi adapter that supports 802.11ac, and now downloads get up to about 250 Mbps on my ATT Fiber 300 service. I could not be happier! I would recommend this adapter to anyone who does not have but wants USB3 support on their computer. The connection speed of USB3 over USB2 is an order of magnitude faster! ... show more
