  • Complete Junk!!!
Before purchasing I read negative views of assembly, operation and quality. Just figured someone didn't know what they were doing... but ran into alot of the same issues. So I apologize to them for disregarding their reviews. Assembly should have been 20 minutes. Took me 2.5 hours. A half hour of time was spent scratching my head, looking at the situation, thinking 'this is a name brand company'?? Handle assembly was most time consuming. See pics for handle connections and damage caused by trying to force these together. Ridiculous quality control here. Holes were drilled in correct alignment locations but drilled crooked so bolts wouldn't clear; had to redrill larger for clearance. PLASTIC sides were surprising to see, ended up stripping bolt insert while trying to adjust after using. This was the peak of my frustration with this poorly built thing. knew it was going back at this point and only way to disassemble was to cut the handle off. Operation was terrible, pushing was difficult if tines were in ground. At a low center of gravity it was hard to move; handles want to push over the tines. (think of pushing a bike with the front brake engaged) Wouldve liked to adjust handle to lowest position to see if it worked better, but thats when bolt insert stripped. Pulling it was only option, and tines didnt dig into ground this way. Moving and turning it using back wheels worked but everything flexed and felt like something was gonna break. Definitely did not expect this quality from a name brand USA company. Will never consider Brinly brand for future purchases. ... show more

  • Made in USA!
Appreciate this is made here in the US. Easy assembly. Works well and will use instead of the core aeration -$$$ saver! Made a modification on the transport wheels. Used John Deere deck wheels found on Amazon, a 6” bolt and a couple more washers. Much more stable especially when using in the yard.

  • All-around a great tool
I think this is a super handy tool - doesn't take up much garage space and helps keep the lawn healthy. I have only two minor concerns, and I'm pretty sure they're due to the way I keep my grass (which is long, as high as the mower deck will let it go - thanks, Allyn Hane!). Mostly I find that it's hard to push and turn the aerator. Difficulty pushing is troubling only because I would be less willing to use the tool in the future if it's a really tough task. I found it's much easier to pull it through my grass, but I'm also quite sure the aerator then isn't driving the spikes into the ground like it should. Turning isn't bad if it's a wide turn, I tip it back onto the wheels, and I am pushing the entire time. I can't stop, tilt it back, and turn to make the next track in the lawn. If I do, the wheels catch in the long grass and it worryingly bends the plastic frame. I don't want to snap it, so I started turning while maintaining momentum. All in all I, again, think it's awesome. Not the same as a plug aerator, but helps and costs about what it would be to rent a plug aerator once, maybe twice. Next time I use it (in the spring), I'll try cutting the grass shorter. I think it'll work just fine! I'll do my best to remember to come back here and update, if I can. ... show more

  • Works great, difficult to assemble.
This was difficult to assemble, the wheels didn’t line up, and it took about an hour with a long crowbar to Bend the axle enough to fit in the hole. Once it was assembled, it works great.

  • JUNK, POOR QC, Manufacture
JUNK. Poor manufacture QC. I'd hoped this was the one. Waited for a month for it to be back in stock. Assembly was easy until getting to the handles. The middle handles do not fit passively with the lower handle and upper handles do not fit passively with the middle handles. They cannot be jammed "to fit". This is NOT a Morse Taper problem. Its sloppy manufacture and QC. Technical service "Steve" is totally inept, "we've never heard that before, we'll send you replacements". So, before you send the replacements will confirm they fit passively? "That's not possible". I got the replacement set. Same problem. Inside diameters/outside diameters, paint overspray and flaring on the ends do not allow a passive fit and they cannot be jammed "to fit". If you want another "DIY project" you could file the interiors and wire brush strip the paint from the exteriors and maybe they'd go to place. If not, split the tubing and squeeze it to decrease the diameter. Way more than I was willing to do based on the wait time, multiple calls to technical support "Steve". ... show more

  • No more renting
I was getting tired of paying for a rental one all seasons, so decided to buy my own one, not a professional but at least it gets the job done.

  • Brinly 18” Aerator: Smooth on Flat Ground, But Needs Tweaks for Slopes and Turns
I bought this aerator to relieve the heavily compacted soil in my yard. My husband and son (a professional landscaper) put it together, used it, and provided this review. Overall, they said that the Brinly 18” Premium Push Spike Aerator had the following pros: • It was easy to assemble • Instructions were clear • The materials are high-end and durable • The aerator can be adjusted to fit the user’s height and comfort • You can add custom weight to adjust the depth of aeration in the yard • It’s perfect for level or slight inclines • The aerator feels smooth when operating it. The guys also had some issues when operating the Brinly aerator. These cons included • The aerator doesn’t handle well on slopes • The homeowner needs to provide weight for the aerator • It doesn’t turn easily (a lot of backing up and changing directions) • It doesn’t handle well on undulated lawns; it does better on a level lawn • The center bar running through the tines was too short to fit both “O” rings • The main body should be metal and not plastic. ... show more

  • NO BUENO
For starters, it arrived with the wrong parts to put the handle together. Contacted the manufacturer thinking it would be quicker than returning to Amazon. Several weeks passed with no replacement part. Contacted them again to find out that there was some error on their part with the shipping. Finally received the part, put it together just to be disappointed in the performance. The tray on top to hold the cement blocks or whatever you use to add weight to actually have enough weight for the tines to penetrate the soil proves to be very awkward/ top heavy and difficult to maneuver. Needless to say, it got returned. Would not recommend. ... show more
