The wooden blocks are particle boards that are cut into smaller pieces. they come as it appears in the store photos and as advertised . I'm using them as stands. but I would not use them for high quality art because again, it's just cheap particle wood cut into smaller pieces.

I recently purchased the 4 pack of Unfinished MDF Wood Blocks and I have been extremely satisfied with my purchase. The blocks came in a pack of four, each measuring 6 x 10 inches with a thickness of 1 inch. The size of these blocks is perfect for various crafts and DIY projects. The first thing I noticed was the smooth surface of these blocks. They are sanded down perfectly, making them ready for any painting or staining projects. The quality of the MDF wood is top-notch, sturdy and durable. I have used two of these blocks as a shim in my guest bathroom to prop up my toilet storage cabinet to get about the quarter round trim. The other two I have used for various craft related projects. One of the best things about these blocks is that they come unfinished. This gives me the freedom to customize them to my liking. I have painted them in various colors, and even used wood-burning techniques to create unique designs. The possibilities are endless with these blocks. Moreover, the price for a pack of four is very reasonable, making this a great value for money. I have seen similar wood blocks sold at a higher price in craft stores, so this was definitely a steal. The fact that they come in a pack of four is also a bonus as I can work on multiple projects at once. The only downside to these blocks is that they are not water-resistant, so it is important to keep them protected if using in outdoor projects. I bought a bunch of these blocks. Even though they are MDF blocks, they do have a bit of weight to them. They are all identical, and I did not see any deformities on any of them. I painted them all with various colors and they soak up a lot of paint. The light pastel colors required 3 or 4 coats of paint to look nice. I don't know if that is common or not? I purchased these because I wanted to give my walking pad an incline. Now many walking pads have an incline option, but I bought mine when they were growing in popularity and they didn't. The block was wide enough that my treadmill could safely rest its front "tabs" without fear of falling off. Since it's wood it's obviously firm, unlike books or yoga blocks. Size: Rect. 3x8x1in
This is not, in truth, suitable for any kind of sanding or carving. It's particleboard with a thin wooden veneer. It's a relatively nice veneer, true, and for certain purposes that would be just fine - but any amount of sanding is just going to remove the veneer, as would basically any working on it. Additionally, the page says nothing of it being particleboard. The pictures are *just* low resolution enough to make it seem as if the fuzziness is due to that, rather than because there is no wood grain. In total: Not a 'bad' product by any means, but hideously incorrectly labeled. Terrible product for its advertised purposes. ... show more
